I'm a BSN, RN. Girl, I can't do any exercise anymore. 4 yrs in the field. I sleep whenever I can when I go home or if it's my off then I rest whenever I can while on duty and whenever there's like “free time” and a chair I thank God for the opportunity even though most of it are less than 5 minutes. But for me, all the workload and tiredness is worth it if you really love nursing and the field you chose.
You’re 100% correct. Med/Surg is great to learn skills... BUT if you know OB is your end goal...go for it. It’s a hard floor to get hired on bc the burnout rate is lower and most people stay their whole careers there. Working the hospital as a CNA helps, though! Shoot the OBs nurse manager an email every so often that way when it comes time- she knows you’re motivated.
My coworker said this to me and I’m currently working on my CNA 1 and 2 certification I can’t wait to get into the hospital my speciality is ONC/HEM people say it’s a weird first choice lol
Please do some more CNA content/how it works into the busy schedule of being a nursing student. It seems like such a great learning opportunity, but I'm nervous I'll be super overwhelmed doing that.
I start nursing school this summer and I’m a full time float CNA at the children’s hospital in my city I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do both but you are inspiring 🥺
I had so many people tell me "you need to do med-surg first" and I knew I didn't want to do that because I worked on a medsurg floor as a CNA. I always wanted to do something with OB and I got offered a RN position in the maternal float pool so I'll get to get in the NICU, L&D, Peds and Mother Baby! So don't get discouraged!!
I'm graduating in a couple weeks and starting in the NICU in July. Definitely go for what you want, if you're passionate, the interviewers will see that and it'll set you apart from others. You'll learn everything you need to on your specialty unit. Don't do med surg if you know it'll burn you out.
The best way to get a non med-surg job as a new grad is to already work as a CNA/PCT, especially if you’re working on med-surg as a tech! It shows nurse managers that you know how to work hard and manage your time - most of my friends who got med-surg jobs as new grads hadn’t worked as CNAs before! I just graduated on Friday from nursing school and I was a tech in med-surg but landed an OB job right out of school! You don’t have to start in med-surg, there’s no sense in starting somewhere you don’t want to be!
I would love to hear about how you balance working and school. Also about being a CNA during the nightshift vs dayshift. I am about to finish my CNA program and I am also starting my ABSN program this fall. I wanted to work during school if possible. I've watched you since the last time you worked as a CNA and it's been so amazing seeing you and Josh grow!! I feel like I'm always a step behind you in my nursing career and so you guys feel like my cool older siblings giving me life advice 😂
ABSN is gonna be way harder to manage along with a full time job. I did an accelerated nursing prior to transferring to a traditional program. I wish you the best!
i’m also gonna start my cna soon and i’m 26 right now. i am hoping to go to school once i finish my cna, find a job, and go to nursing school. i’m not sure to if should go for accelerated nursing school. i heard that wherever you decide to work they will help you go back to school to finish your RN. i’m in ny right now and idk if i feel old already to be a cna and a nurse after. i hope it won’t be that bad and i haven’t been to school in awhile so i’m so nervous. this is my first time stepping the big step you know. i hoping it won’t be that bad.
I started as a new grad in Labor and Delivery two years ago and am still there. Yes I wish I had some medsurg experience but I wouldn’t trade my experience for anything else. Love where I am! I can see that you really want it and will make a fantastic labor nurse!!
Don’t get discouraged about your chances of starting in L&D, so many new grads start out in a specialty unit! I feel like everyone just tries to scare new nurses into starting in med-surg because a lot of people don’t really like it as much lol
I'm studying nursing in Brazil and my goal is after college I start my process to become a nurse in the United States. Your channel is helping me a lot with English, I'm grateful for that. 😊
No, you do not have to start on med/surge as a new grad nurse. if you have healthcare experience and you do, you can start on a specialty unit as a new grad nurse. Critical Care Tech/EMT- hopeful nursing student for Spring 2022.
Yes I would love to see how you prepare for night shifts and more CNA videos!!! Thinking about applying to a cna position since I just finished my first semester of nursing school!
I hope you realize that you're a superhero! the amount of stuff you get done.. I could never, wishing you all the best ❤️ also, I love your hair on April 22nd! such a cute hairstyle 😍
Thank you for this video! I'm a nursing student and just received my CNA certification and applying to CNA positions to work in during my last two semesters of nursing school. I think, the in hospital experience will help in my learning and for when I a graduate. I only plan to work part-time or per-diem but not sure if nights or days would be better? I keep hearing nights are great bc it is usually slower and you can find time to study, but it wrecks your sleep schedule vs. days, which are better for your sleep schedule but super busy so it would be hard to find studying time.
Loved this video because it was so realistic of what MOST people go through with trying to juggle their busy lives.. it’s hard work!! Reminded me of my nursing school/CNA days :) but keep at it and definitely shoot for your dreams whether it’s in L&D or whatever you end up choosing!!
I’m wrapping up my 8th thesis length assignment this year before summer break next week. 😩😩 This video is the motivation I need to get through. All I need is a coffee and I’ll be sorted.
Don’t listen to them! Start where you want.. First time I’m this early and it feels so good lol. Excited about starting my Bsn program in June, and I have to say that your videos motivate me to want to do my best.

Right? Obviously, I would be grateful for any job out of graduation but it just sucks when it’s felt forced on you😅 congrats to you though how exciting!!🥳
Can you please make a video on how you balance school and work with a social life I’ll be starting nursing school next year and I want to keep my hospital job
Props to you. Don’t know how you have time to do these amazing videos while In school. Currently in my second year of FNP and dude I am just drained 😂 (Shrek sounds about good right now)
what shoes do you wear at your CNA job/school clinicals? my school requires us to wear all black leather shoes & i'm looking for recommendations! luv your vids
I have a question for you. Does your dress code allow you to wear a shirt underneath your scrubs? Cause, you might wanna wear a underarmour shirt underneath your scrub top.
I had my capstone on a med-surg unit that had a manager who was super adamant about starting on med-surg. Long story short I got a job in an ICU at a different hospital and the manager proceeded to call my school and claim that I was unprofessional/that I acted like med-surg was below me. I know you don’t know me but this was not true at all and when I reached out to my preceptor she said she thought I had done a great job. Anyway just watch out for that because it’s really messed with my head and got me into a ton of trouble at school.
I’m truly not worried at all! I play along every time someone brings it up and I would never think of any unit or treat any unit as if they were below me!
I’m a BSN student in an accelerated program. I have NO idea how you guys are able to work, go to school, date, and find the time to study somewhere in between. NO WAY I can do that. Much respect from a 44 year old dude.
I work full time and go to school full time in an accelerated BSN program 😅 it’s not impossible but time management will make or break you.
I’m also in accelerated program :-)
2 years to go for LPN

Can you please make a video on how you balance school and work with a social life I’ll be starting nursing school next year and I want to keep my hospital job
I must know where you got your satin leopard print pjs ?
Is it a good idea to start as a CNA before nursing school?
I have been looking for a video like this for soo long! I'm currently getting my CNA and I would like to go to nursing school when I graduate.
I don’t even know how you do it all. God bless you.
Props to you. Don’t know how you have time to do these amazing videos while In school. Currently in my second year of FNP and dude I am just drained 😂 (Shrek sounds about good right now)
Is it hard having different sleep schedules during the beginning vs end of the week?
This is literally me school in morning for nursing and cna a night 11-7
would love to hear about your experiences/first thoughts on the units you're floating to! also I died at 21:53 lmaooo

I just passed my state test on Saturday for my CNA 🥳 looking for only part time while I’m school
Yay congrats to you!!💗

Good🤪
i want to be in labor and delivery too! how long will you have to be in school for to do that?
Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Hey! I know you’ve done one of these before but can you do a hairstyles video or like a skincare routine?
Yes!! Once I get my schedule down and under control I plan to film a ton of extra vids like that!
I have a question for you. Does your dress code allow you to wear a shirt underneath your scrubs? Cause, you might wanna wear a underarmour shirt underneath your scrub top.
Haha yes we can and i would but I think it’s too much under the jacket and would rather just wear the jacket instead!
Makes sense
wait omg you look exactly like a character that appeared on chicago med ps. love ur vids!!
please do hair tutorial for the french braids!! i love
Where did you get those pj’s at the beginning?!😍
random comment but you filmed this the day my daughter was born 💗
What kind of unit do you work on? I’m on the waitlist for nursing school but I’m currently a CNA in L&D
The RegisteredNurseRN video is so accurate 😂
What’s the link to your clinical bag? (The smaller one)
love this vlog!! So happy your new job is going so well!! ;)
Thank you 😍😍
what hydro flask color is that? super cute and want to get one
Is it doable to work full time and do your RN program? I'm an LPN graduate and I work full time..
Congratulations on 51k
