    SOOO helpful. The instructions that come with the lock are not as thorough as this video, especially when it comes to starting over to establish a wifi connection and pairing with the app in general. I was on hold with customer service for 45 minutes and never got anyone. I watched this video while I waited and eventually hung up. Thank you for the video!

    Can I PAIR it with MORE THAN ONE PHONE (or gadgets )?? I am having hard time to pair it with my wife's phone. I had no issues to pair mine (the first phone paired to it).

    Still not sure how to set-up WiFi. This Install and Setup for WiFi is incomplete. What is name of the app that needs to be installed? How to turn on the Bluetooth on the device? how to login to the app on the phone? when I connect to the Bluetooth in the app says it must be within Bluetooth range to complete this step up. Direction for installation refer to the website and in the website it refers to the direction comes with the lock. in the short video it refers back to website and direction came with lock. I can't find complete direction to set-up WiFi.

      Hello, I am sorry to hear you are having issues pairing your Schlage Encode to your personal Wi-Fi. I would be happy to assist! The app needed is Schlage Home. Bluetooth will not need to be manually turned on but should find your phone once the app is searching for it. The app does require a personal login that will have to be set up. This can be done by pressing Sign In, and then Sign Up. To set up the Schlage Encode initially, you will have to be at the location next to the lock or within Bluetooth range. If you continue to have issues pairing the lock, we recommend that you contact us at 800-847-1864 for more extensive troubleshooting. Thank you!

    How do you deal with batteries dying after 1 week? I have gone thru batteries at my vacation house like 6 times this year. Very unreliable. Schlage sent a new lock and still happening.

    I had a problem with the deadbolt being wrong handed. There should be a video that talks about how the software automatically reverses from left to right handed. The lock doesn’t work until it’s installed and you run setup software.

    I would like to have the magic spell he used to put the lock on the door. Or was it just slide of hand and I missed it. Don’t say you have a video that’s going to show me the installation of the product and you skip right over the most important part which is getting it on the the door. Thanks for wasting my time. I’ll never get it back.

    . It won’t let me enter my programming code. The programming code is a 6 digit number. It only allows me to type the first 3 numbers and then there is a RED X and it won’t allow me to continue to add my code. Can anyone help? I have the Encode

    Hi. Thank you for the video. So I moved to a home that has a Schlage encoder deadbolt which is very nice. Only thing we are worried about is if there is a key copy floating around somewhere. Do you recommend for us to buy a whole new lock or take the lock to get re-keyed?

    Have done this 10 times same result. Set up via Schlage app from factory reset. Walks me through WiFi perfectly. Then hit back plate button once to go into pairing mode for Apple Home. Won’t go into pairing mode unless I hold button, let it go through the red lights then it goes into pairing mode. Once paired to Apple home and working, WiFi is disabled in Schlage home app and cannot detect network. And cannot set up I thought we could use both Bluetooth for home app and WiFi for Schlage app on Apple?

The Encode Plus can be connected to both HomeKit and Schlage Home system at the same time, We suggest performing a reset on the lock again and follow the steps in the Schlage home app to connect. Once the lock is paired we suggest clicking the menu button on the upper left of the Home Screen and clicking on Works With then select HomeKit and follow the steps to sync with your account.     How do you connect the lock to wifi if your network has both 2.4 and 5 ghz and doesn't separate them out?

      Thank you for reaching out to Schlage support. When pairing your lock to the Schlage app, you will want to split your wifi, Defending on your internet provider some do no require you split your wifi.

    My Encode app was successfully installed 3 days ago and running smoothly until yesterday. I'm able to lock/unlock my door with the app, but I am not receiving any notifications where I previously was getting them on my phone. In the settings, WiFi is no longer connected, and will not connect to my home network. I keep getting 'Unable to communicate with the Schlage cloud". I've reset my wifi, factory reset the lock, turned on/off wifi and bluetooth on my phone. I'm at a loss at this point.

      The outage does not affect anything local with the lock. Current codes may be utilized at the lock and the lock may be locked/unlocked within BT range via the Schlage Home app. Any operation or function requiring WiFi will be affected until the outage is resolved
      Pairing with Wifi

      Remote operation: including notification errors
      Alteration to a lock that has been paired with WiFi
      Allegion is aware of sporadic communication issues affecting some users that utilize the Schlage Home app. We are actively investigating the issue and expect a quick resolution.As of early morning on Dec 17, the disruption with some of our connected locks is resolved for most users. For those still experiencing issues, two steps are recommended: 1) remove and reinstall batteries, then try again.If that is not successful, re-connect the lock to the WiFi network, then try again.       @@SchlageLocksOfficial thanks for the response and advice. I reset everything again, from the router to changing the batteries. Maybe while resetting it all, the cloud problem resolved as well, and all problems have been resolved. I love this lock and would definitely recommend it.

    How does the key work? I see it doesn't come with a key. So can I but a Schlage dead bolt lock for a the service door to the garage and use that key in the Encode key slot?

      Hello,
      Thanks for reaching out! The Encode lock comes with one physical key. This key is a mechanical override and will allow entry even if the batteries are dead. You can definitely order other Schlage locks and have them keyed the same in order to use the same key for multiple lock sets. The key code is a five digit code located on the physical brass key.

    I'm having issues getting it to connect to wi-fi. I changed the batteries and now it's al wonky. I did a factory reset and can only connect through blutooth now.

    What the heck? This stops before finishing set up. My Bluetooth button seems to have some issues, idk if there is a knack to it or what and I was hoping to see but pressing the Bluetooth button doesn’t seem to make it enter pairing mode, just blue light not beep. I have to factory reset it every time I want to pair so far so dumb.

      Hello, pushing the button is often not enough for entering pairing mode. I usually have to factory rest before it will do so. I am unsure if this is a quirk of the model or my unit, but it made it quite a headache to connect. Especially to try and connect it to Amazon Key as well since it wasn’t linking well, but I just deleted and reconnected my linked Schlage account.

    Just a heads up for anyone looking for assistance on why the keypad isn't getting power and you've already checked the through door cable. The rep will ask u to only use Duracell or Energizer alkaline batteries. In my case the keypad would not light up but it would try and operate only to give a lock jammed error. I was using great value brand alkalines so the conclusion was still the batteries. I've heard this excuse used before and it never works but I'll update once I've tried

      ​@@kgbartolomenegative. We replaced the batteries with Duracell and ended up with the same error. We checked everything including the alignment. I've installed several dozen for a property management company, but we ended up just purchasing a new one

    [UPDATE: issue resolved - perform unpublished manual motor reset process] My Encode would fail the setup routine when entering user code the first time. Bolt would move out and in, but at the last moment lock errors out with red cross instead of blue check mark. It fails at the same moment as shown at 2:08 in this video. Motor gear seems to be half engaged at this point, app would say lock jammed. Other than that, everything else works (manual thumb turn, key entry, WiFi connection, status notification, programming new codes all work). Just can't pass setup and use keypad or app to lock/unlock. In addition, its user code A printed on the label is not four digit... It is like "923/", where the last digit is a forward slash. Code B works fine and looks normal.

      Glad to report that Schlage customer service got back to me within 24hours and replied to me on Friday and Saturday and got issue resolved. There is an unpublished motor adjustment/reset process to resolve this issue. To do it, you need to have the interior assembly (thumb turn with motor and battery) separated from center shaft and mounting bracket, turn the thumb turn 1080degrees clockwise (three full cycles), and then put it back in place. Press and hold the button to reset lock, and redo the handing process. It will complete this time.

    This tutorial is pathetic! For anyone else, here’s what helped me. If you can’t connect to WiFi, you would’ve likely connected to HomeKit instead of the Schlage home app. Don’t do that. Remove your lock from HomeKit and Schlage home and install via Schlage home first. That’s going to connect it to WiFi in the setup process.
    Schlage you guys really need to add the option to connect it via WiFi if setup by HomeKit. Took me 2 hours to figure this out!!!

    I moved my lock to another door and now can only access the lock through bluetooth...reset everything and put in fresh batteries, but when I try to connect to wifi it says it can't reach the cloud. After about 2 hours I gave up...will try again tomorrow.
