I love this song so much! You need to watch the version: Aurora - It Happened Quiet (Live at The Current). It's just her, her guitar accompanist and a mic. Magical!
@@dlbwoodbury Absolutely! The two of them together is why the Current version is so magical. Plus, watching Aurora embody her music live is always amazing.
I’m so happy you get to see Aurora 💙🦋 This was a really good analysis, best I’ve seen for this song. When she sings: “Don’t you speak over my voice! I will return from the shadows. And I’ll bleed in your bed, turn it red like the ground outside your window” This is after she’s killed and comes back to haunt him🥺 So it really is a horror story, but unfortunately it happens around the world all the time, so sad🥺❤️ As you said, it’s hard to get out of relationships like this, and sometimes it’s too late, like in this story. This is one of the many things I love about Aurora, writing beautiful songs but with disturbing/sad/important lyrics❤️ She’s truly one of a kind💙🦋 Usually she harmonises with herself in the studio versions, but here she had a male choir joining, and it suits the song perfectly😍 I highly recommend checking out the live performance at Current, so beautiful❤️ Enjoy the concert!🤩🤩
Great reaction to this beacon of light in the darkness. Love the live at The Current, you should at least watch it on your own, it is so beautiful. I hope you have a magical experience at her concert and that you share it with us. Thanks.
Ah, you must be seeing her in Toronto -- same as Ashlena from Aurora Tuesdays. Have fun! Your Aurora reactions are always so smart and thoughtful, and this was no exception. You'll probably get a ton of requests for "The Current" live version, and there's a good reason for that. The Nidarosdomen version is also great, and closer to the studio version. 👍🤟
Hands down the best analysis I have ever seen for this one! BIG kudos to you. First time seeing your channel and the sub was a no-brainer. Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Great review as always! You really help me to be a better listener to lyrics, and grapple with the meaning and import of ideas. I did have a little different interpretation regarding the ending (side note: l looked up the lyrics and sat with them for a bit). My ending version was that she died after falling from the window - you hear her voice loud and clear - then doubling in the final refrain, until it disappears completely, and you only have the male chorus. She is gone - but in her dying breath wishes that the vision of her lifeless body haunts him while he sleeps (in the shadows, and in his dreams). The other, more "sick" interpretation is that the abuser final wins in his domination - "she" slowly disappears - and she becomes "him" as all that is left is the male voice. She ends up repeating history. I know, quite dark - but statistically common - the abused repeats what they know, and thus take on the persona of the abuser. Thanks again! (p.s. you deserve more subscribers!!)
I've only ever seen the live version of this song until now. Amazing studio version, and amazing to realize how she re-invented it to do that performance for The Current! I mean, I've seen numbers of times already that she's capable of that, of course. I also think your interpretation of the later verses is SUPER worthwhile; I've always just assumed "you" is indicating that these are lyrics she's speaking to them. I'm so excited for you to get to go to the concert! Hope we get to hear about it from you afterwards :)
I saw her last night in Chicago, and I can tell you that it's going to be absolutely amazing. She has so much fun with the crowd. She's just an absolute joy to watch. She floats and dances around the stage so freely. She always says something completely out of pocket, hilarious, and slightly shocking. And, of course, her voice! Her backing vocalists are insanely talented. And Freddie was shredding on the guitar at one point. There was so much love at the concert. Everyone was so kind, and respectful. The Warriors and Weirdos were amazing. It was a truly unique concert experience. I hope you have a great time! (I know you will!) And spoiler...she performed this song at the show I went to.
Check out the live version.

Silja Sol sings gorgeous harmonies in the Current version.

Tbh I’m obsessed with the choir in the album version at the end. It’s soooo ominously beautiful
I’m so happy you get to see Aurora 💙🦋

Oh, Congratulations to seeing her live. She has a very special energy onstage ❤️🔥

you are good with your interpretation. will you report from your concert experience? thanks for reacting.
you are a great song interpreter! wonderful analysis.🙏👍(like with your "Running with the Wolves" reaction--just amazing!)
This studio is perfection.. but the live version at the Current is subliminal. Even if you do not react to it, it's worth a watch.
I just love the male choir at the end. There is nothing else that fulfills that’s song for me. It’s such an ending
Hey Nav, missed ya hun! Im back and doing well , so excited to be well and back! Excellent content as always
I'm seeing her on Sunday! Can't wait
What an amazing and aaccurate breakdown
The version of this song at the current is from other planet
The “you” in this song is the abuser, IMHO.
