    Anybody can make a test where their own product is the only one passing... You give the Mantus that little extra time to settle at low speed whereas all the other anchors are pulled instantly at higher speed. Strangely my Rocna has set in any type of bottom all the time, anywhere. According to your test I should have been shpi wrecked somewhere a long time ago. Independent tests are far more interesting.

    Nice slow pull to set the Mantis. Nice hard yanks to set the Rocna. You guys make a great anchor so if you are going to cheat to prove a point at least be good at it.....

    You mean to say that none of the other industry leading anchors were able to set at all??!!! wow, your product must be amazing. Or maybe, ... just maybe, you're doing something wrong.

    1:34 how convenient that you cut to it dragging as it was just setting in....

  • @iman80skid91
    @iman80skid91 8 лет назад +8

    Video conveniently cut at 2.20 just as the Mantus didn't dig in EITHER

  • @iman80skid91
    @iman80skid91 9 лет назад +6

    Why was the video cut at 1.35 just as the manson was about to dig in,,,,

    So your Assertion is no anchor holds bottom at all besides your Mantus? I came here to see something better but instead am left feeling this video is a lie!

    On any anchor it is always best to use a few feet of heavier chain next to anchor, This anchor might be ok on sandy ground but it did not grip fast enough, Not much good if you have a breakdown near a rocky shore, A good 3 prong grapling is a great safety device in any emergency,

  • @NightSailor

    I would never buy a Mantus given the tricks used to make the other anchors fail. Put some chain on the other anchors are intended. Or test with all chain and angles used in the real world.

    I've been anchored in Isla Mujeres 3 times each time for 4 months. I can show you places in the anchorage that no anchor will hold. There's a few inches of gooey bottom over bedrock. My Bruce set within 3 ft of drop my danforth a little farther because I know where to drop it. Isla Mujeres is one of the worst bottoms I have ever anchored in. All the spade type anchors compare well here when the test isn't fixed to ones advantage. The trick here is knowing where to anchor. But even then with a strong wind change I have seen them all drag because the bottom is so gooey. This time I have been here over a year. I have seen all anchors drag here.

      Really true... the place is unbelievable... no anchor holds in the Isla Mujeres anchorage unless dropped on one of the few sandy spots. That video was filmed outside of the anchorage and I can't say I blame 'em.

    Perhaps if all anchors were tested at the same set speed, maybe they would be subject to equal testing and therefore believable!

    So... insufficient scope and full speed reverse? Not the way I set my anchor

      Exactly my thoughts.

      Actually, I pretty much do. Our sailboat is 34,000 pounds and our motor is a 20kw electric motor. We have a bunch of information about our cruising boat at riggingdoctor.com
      That being said, I did just recently buy a 65 pound mantus anchor based on the unbiased videos of SVPanope. There he sets many anchors the same way so that their weakness will shine through. Based on what I saw, I switched from Bruce to Mantus.
      If you anchor for the night with 4:1 scope, please be down wind of me. I don't want to hear a bump in the night because you drifted into me.

    I was considering a Mantus anchor until I watched their youtube videos. While the product design is based on a good (but borrowed) concept, the company itself is clearly built on misrepresentation, exaggeration, and outright lies. Why the heck would you call this an "Anchor Test"? Looks like a "Shell Game" to me.

    • @betternfred
      @betternfred 7 лет назад

      What do you mean "They"?? YOU (FRED) ARE Mantus!! Another fine example of what a disingenuous organization you are!! Replying to posts by real consumers trying to pass yourself off as a consumer. What a dirtbag!

    BIAS comparison.
    West Marine and many other "independant" comparisons put the Rocna well ahead

    Abetter test I saw was with a SARCA anchor where it was attached to a bar on a chain attached to a 4WD along with its competitors, and pulled with a winch acrossthe ground. At least you could see how each caught into the ground on the same basis. I have nothing to do with SARCA by the way.

    All anchor companies do this. Bottom line probably is that most anchors work well enough in most bottoms.

  • @RobFomenko
    @RobFomenko 7 лет назад +2

    Not a equal test. Pretty Bogus in fact. So far all their video tests are like that. Makes you wonder.

    I'll try to curtail my tendency to post flippant responses.
    These tests are not scientific.
    The conclusion one would walk away from these tests with is that Mantus anchors always set in one "anchor length" and the others never set.
    This is (expletive deleted).
    I have now or have in the past had a Mantus, CQR, Rocna, Lewmar Delta, Fortress, and Luke Fisherman anchors. I rate Rocna and Mantus about the same. Which IMHO, set more quickly than all the others listed.

    Rob from Florida said on his RUclips channel about an affiliate discount, but you current not offering because of conditions. Any estimate on when that will come back, because I'd like to get 2? Also if you offer a military discount?

    So not 100% that the test is very convincing.
    However we have a mantis dinghy anchor myself and being on the water 5 days a week in the Caribbean. That anchor weighs 2lb and it is amazing, we use it as a ketch for our 26ft Boston Whaler and it holds on sand, grass and rock. We also have a rocna Vulcan on the bow which replaced a useless delta plow. I would say pound for pound they are similar, the Vulcan seems to be a more well built product being one piece but the mantis seems to have a better setting position on most bottom structures. Overall I would recommend mantis as very good anchors.

    I'm going to try to distill a little value from these "tests".
    And I will first assert that I am a sailor and do not profit in anyway from Anchor sales.
    It looks to me like they had to try very hard to make the delta anchor fail. The scope is a 2:1 ratio at best and it is being pulled at over 10knts. Based on the videos here, it's probably the best anchor presented.

      I wonder how fast Michael Phelps would be able to swim with fins on. .....not a very good analogy. Based on my experience using many anchors, I do not believe these tests are done fairly. How many times did you test the Rocna and deltas to get the failure footage? Danforth anchors are terrible in grass, so I believe that you got that one to fail quickly.

    I bought my first rocna ( from the designer in new zealand..!!) before the usa had even heard of rocna, early 2000's, great anchor and you can rely on them just about 90% of the time, the other 10% when shit hit's the fan you need a mantus, just reality...dont believe me..? check out sailing uma several month's ago they we in a huricain, (cyclone for us down under) their rocna was great but what held them was the extra mantus they put down...

      SAILING SERENITY that Mantus was for an 80’ yacht 🛥 lol holding their 35’ boat... not a great comparison. Not to say Mantus isn’t great. However all their videos are completely biased and dishonest... they are proven by many sailors to be great anchors and up there with the best... I’ve been binge watching all these anchor reviews and comparisons. Pretty eye opening seeing the ones that are complete BS

  • @KIDTAKO

    All I saw was ALL of your "anchors" NOT anchoring to ANYTHING

  • @krga94c
    @krga94c 5 лет назад +2

    So many are such haters here. All of the anchors tested all had the same amount of chain, being dragged through the same grass, same speed. The Mantus just out performed and set faster than all the others. Period. Quit trying make yourselves feel better for buying an inferior anchor. Nothing was said that the other anchors don't work at all, or are bad anchors. But they're clearly not as efficient as the Mantus when it comes to setting time. I've been boating for over 40 years, and have used all types of anchors. I got sick and tired of having to let out 100 ft of rope in order to get a set. I bought a Mantus - problem solved.
