Watch The Coral perform Dreaming of You back in 2002. Broadcast on the BBC's flagship live music show Later... with Jools Holland.
Clearly a band that didn't have the appraisal they deserved
This song was top 10 most played on British radio in 2002 I believe.
I love it when a band actually sound as good live as they do in the recordings!
Saw them live in Nottingham 2003 I would say they sounded better live than recorded
After the quality of the songs this must be the 2nd most important part of being a good band. Probably the reason why it took me ages to like the Stone Roses... Ian Brown being incapable of singing 2 notes together in key. I can't've been the only one who hated them when they first came out.
@@maasaigeordielong thought this myself. I’m a better singer than him and I can’t sing.
@@rexeverything100 Strange as it may be, but it is true..👍👌❤
this song hasnt aged a day
Singing like his life depends on it. Absolutely brilliant.
Just asked to play this number......and I'd never heard it.A great soul voice. Is he still recording?
He has an incredible voice👌
One of the greatest songs that define an era. Not enough plaudits for it.... Sheer brilliance. Skelly's effort in this song is remarkable. Shades of Ian Curtis.
Sounds more like Lee Mavers from The La's.
I can’t see the Ian Curtis similarities.
Ian Curtis was just depressing as fuck
@@liamthomas2494 that's right. With depression coincidentally. A brutal illness.
@@stagumphswasn't nice to see him on stage though was it, think you've got to be suicidal to enjoy joy division.
Nearly 20 years old seriously where the fuck does time go.
Time flies 😬
@@fidelmacorcoran9468Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana 🍌
Our Time is on loan:-(
Not heard this in ages. I forgot how instant and urgent it is! A short shot in the arm. What a tune.
Great name
Urgent is the perfect noun ❤
Shades of 60's soul ....brilliant
Sounds like Eric Burden to me
Agree, the animals I always thought were overlooked by the stones or the Beatles, look at war film and you'll just hear the animals either start the film to get you , into that mindset @@TheGBs1972
This band opened so many doors for a lot of people to get record deals in Liverpool 😎… … and probably still do… and I dabble in a bit of producing myself as a hobby… I’m pretty sure James produced one of Blossoms album… defo born with the music gene that lad haha
He’s also working and producing The Lathums as too.
So was Bill. Done film scores , produced all kinds of artists albums including another Scouse great Michael Heads’ Can compose and not too shabby on the guitar 😂.
What an absolute gem
Absolutely brilliant. Incredibly underrated band.
One of the best bands to ever come out of the Uk…. Fact!
It’s an opinion - not a fact.
The best band to come from the UK in the last 25 years by a long long mile
Piss off 😂
Their good but come on now 😂 Better then; Muse, Coldplay, Biffy Clyro, Fightstar, Kasabian etc...just to name a few I don't know if I'd go that far!
@@adamknight7041 fightstar lmfao 😂😂
@@adamknight7041 You forgot James.
@@Timekeeper1200
One of the best bands out there hands down and Charlie Simpson is a genius so hate on them all you like.
Have you even listened to them?
22 years ago and still sounds 🙌
I saw them when at an Oasis gig in Amsterdam. Proper tunes!
You are sooooooooooooooooooooooo lucky....
A perfect tune. Perfect!
Up there with 'There She Goes'.
Calm yersel
@@nolanlamond2439 Odd remark.
Without a doubt
If I only ever did one thing in my life…to have been involved in a tune like this would be enough for me.
Absolutely ditto ❤
Bill Ryder-Jones - what a player!
What a solo
@@waynesilverman3048 yeah solo is sweet
Fantastic voice
One of the best live bands you’ll see.
Bills latest solo album from last year that I’m not even going to try and spell is class.
I've been a fan since 2002. I remember walking up one night back in the day, finding it hard to sleep, and I turned on the telly, and there they were on Jools Holland. I live in Sweden, so there were not that many tv-shows from England at that time that you could see on tv. What a great coincidence 😁
What a fantastic song, and that vocal wouldn't have been out of place on a Northern Soul classic
Incredible live band. Skellys vocals are top drawer. Tight band. Great musicians.
Such a brilliant tune! One of my favorite to boop around the house to! 😊
I first heard this fun song as a short clip on a TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) commercial years ago on tv and it took me ages to track it down, but I couldn’t get that short clip out of my head. The original video is hilarious! Still liking the song in 2022!
The Kinks are inside this band!!!!
Never gets old man one of my favourite tunes since I was 12
What a voice....
New album Coral Island is the best album I've heard for ages. Love it. Faceless Angel deffinatly a highlight.
True, it is a great album. But i love Roots and Echoes way more!
The shit! Absolutely brilliant band. And now James is a great producer as well.
CLASSIC
What an awesome live performance 👍🏻
Jerry looking into the camera with his Toothy smile still cracks me up😂
Pero que canción tan más chingonaaaaaaaa!!!! Aún te necesito pero no te quiero ahora !!
I wish this sort of stuff was around still today,,come on lads bring it on
A great 'soul' voice.
The reverb on the rhythm guitar is next level 👌🏻
What a song and a great performance
The tone of that guitar solo 🎉
Something special that my friend, cool as a cucumber
Yep that’s Bill Ryder-Jones for you. Genius.
Gives me joy division vibes fantastic band are the coral

H'e a boss singer, was wondering if he could do that powerful a vocal live, nails it...
So good
This is so polished, excellent performance
Great vocal this 👍
Hes got the lee mavers brilliant rough voice sound
still brilliant. really enjoying Coral Island. Phil in Melbourne lockdown August 27th 2021
Great guitar solo!
Bloody marvellous
These are playing Askern festival in Doncaster and I’m playing on the same bill with my band Fossway can’t fuckin wait man!
Cool. I'll check you out. Nice one. Hope you have a good gig
Just checked out some of your stuff.. Grey Cloud is a tune - check out my band Hope Mountain on Spotify... we're from the same neck of the woods as you (NWest)

@@samc175 Aye I'm liking your tune Before the dawn. Nice one keep the scenes alive brother, no ones gonna do it for us.

*Phenomenal* 👏👏
Love steve in this,great days♡
That voice!
Great performance. Proper band...
Great band
Is it true this is about drug addiction? It's such a belter of a tune, like all of the best, it's simple but so much greater than the sum of it's parts.
I'd highly doubt it. Unlike Lee mavers, I don't think James Skelly or any of the band were addicted to any drugs. To me it's like There she goes by the la's in the sense that people have given it a drug meaning when's its most likely about a women.
Rediscovered WOW!!!
Proper tune
Amazing
Wow!
19 years ago, jesus it feels like it was 2 years ago
💯
¡That's right!
¡You are inevitably getting old!
Our time is on loan Time will become you-you will become time
yes indeed, twenty years ago and nothing in that video would seem out of place now... perhaps except the quality of the tune?!
Brilliant !
Me encanta,
GOLD
Gold.
good ol' times
The Best band Of their generation!!
Just pure class. The Coral always felt like a stonkin 90's band to me but were actually keeping the early noughties music scene listenable in a sea of crap around at the time.
The early 00s take a sloppy shiite all over the 90s
Brilliant
You can burn a 1000 calories dancing to this tune
Great lead guitarist there
Good fun song, that's not to belittle it in any way x
Great band, great song
Love cats vibe with some 60s stuff
Wizards of Twiddly on the the horns. Legends!
Tune 🤩
Bet he's a monster with a foot pump.
blowing up air mattresses like balloons
❤ hermosa musica 🎙🐎🦅
Liverpool salutes you lads
Great song, always reminds of Scrubs and the early 2000s
Zildjian cymbals always have been the best they said ^^
That Philicorda sounds fantastic
bought everything by them
That is tight
I miss him!
Sorry
It's complicated!
Why didn't anybody tell me about these guys.
This is really good.
My England song..
Wow, did we all really look that young??? Great track 👌
10/10
Great great song
Universal truth for teenage angst

👑 Amazing band better than any of their generation 🏴
Fucking spot on lads, you nailed it. X
Top performance..
The lead singer was great in Lock Stock
Was he?
Isn't that Danny dyer 😆

Ha ha looks like the scouser
Your thinking of Stephen Graham who was in the film Snatch with Vinnie Jones.
dont act like you didnt notice Remus Lupin chillin at 0:33
So so underrated. Saw em 20 years ago at Leadmill then again the other week...fuckin brilliant band.
Also saw em supporting Arctics at Old Trafford 2007 and they were the better band
Noel Gallagher's pick and comments that when they made is the singer brought reclining leather armchairs with cupholders and had therfore 'made it'
Watched that interview, well funny, must be a scouse thing.
Great song I love Diana Ross
