    I'm glad you started this conversation, student potential in biomedical research is huge, but sadly not utilised enough. I co authored three papers during my med school, and one of them, which is basically analysis of usage of student's potential in biomedical research in my country, found it's way to pubmed. I really believe that students can benefit a lot from scientific work, at the same time giving a lot to the science with their work.

      Research isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Especially the publishing process. The whole struggle will be worth it in the end once you can get a doctoral degree!

    Great video, most RUclipsrs don't talk about publishing, as a PhD student (and also RUclipsr), publishing is very important and necessary if you want to stay in academia.

    Simply loved the video. I was so interested to do research but I didn't get enough content or videos to get me started on my venture. Then this video came along and everything from the start till the end was so brilliant and informative. I am now confident to start on my research journey . All thanks to you !!!

    Another helpful tip for undergrads is to look into honours degrees at your university. Honours degrees usually have built in year long research courses where you work on your own project and form a close relationship with the PI, so there is a publishing opportunity if you work for it!

    Cannot stress the importance of having a good mentor. During my final year of MPharm at KCL, I was given a mentor who honestly just left me in the lab, gave me no guidance and support. It was absolutely hell and probably one of the worst periods of my life. Very scary thinking that my final degree classification was dependent on this academic. Definitely build good relationships if you can.

She is my specific doctor and I know she works with other grad students. I'm not ready yet to start grad school. However one of the questions on the Personal Statement is interest in research. Would I simply state what I want to do Research in or should I include the doctor I want to do Research with? Should I also talk with the doctor over email first? How would I start the email initially?

      1) Get straight As in school
      2) Get a very high UCAT & BMAT score
      3) Create a UCAS account
      4) Make a personal statement and get a reference
      5) pick 4 medical schools and add their details into UCAS
      6) Pray you get selected for interview

      @@ZyNeEnZyNe what it would cost for applying to med school??
      And what will be the fee structure afterwards?

    • @ZyNeEnZyNe
      @ZyNeEnZyNe 2 года назад +1

      @@priyansh6187 So the UCAS application is cheap, you can pick a maximum of 4 medical schools in any given year and the application will cost you around 26 GBP
      The fee structure for each medical school is slightly different and you should check their respective websites for the most up-to-date information. In general international students will have to pay a lot more and so would require significant funding. For UK home students the fees are 9250 GBP per year, and for international they can easily go up to 36,000+ GBP per year!
      Normally students in the UK get funding from the government and so tuition fees are generally covered. Otherwise, you can normally choose to pay all the money at once or split the payment over the year in 3 installments. Do check the websites of the medical schools you are interested in for specific details
