I always enjoy your channel and the multiple laughs your generate! As to your reviews, I find them to be informative, well presented, and genuine. Thank you!
Love the style and color, would simply swap the pickup for something less "ice-picky" in theory. :) Regardless of 1 pickup or 2, I've always loved Phil X's thing about using your guitar/hands to make tonal differences (vs relying on pedals/amps), i.e. actually utilizing your volume and tone knobs. Definitely still learning the importance of it, but love to repeat/share it.
Love the single p90. I have the LP junior and it's great to play. Have to be 100% honest I am not a fan of the offset horns they have gone to. I have an early DC and the horns are even like a SG. Great video as always though brother!
A Junior model is actually quite a good starting place for a new student, provided they are told by someone to actually use the knobs to change the tone. Then someone suggest choosing to pick in different locations from the bridge to the neck (or Hendrix-style on top of the neck) and even more tones are uncovered.
I've just ordered one in lefty same colour but I've also ordered a different bridge because of all the reviews say it's crap. I've gone for a traditional compensated wraparound. If you roll off the tone you can get a fake neck pickup sound! For me it's just going to be all the way up and playing punk rock!!!!!!
Very good and honest reviews, professional at its best. The guitar is very straightforward, if anyone needs this tone, he knows ... Otherwise this axe really misses the neck pickup, with it it would be a bestseller. Love the SGs.
These guitars force a player to learn how to use the volume and tone knobs. There's lots of sounds in that pickup. That said, a neck pickup added at least triples the sounds you can coax from it. I think that's initially why Gibson marketed them as "student models".
The beast of the fretboard is back on song with the new HB, these HB guitars are getting better every year, and still reasonably priced. Superb playing again Henning.
Yeah, I have two HB basses with slanted headstocks, and the scarf joint (and direction of the wood grain) on each looks and feels quite strong. And one also has a set neck that is also quite nice. It's a good company as far as I can tell.
I love that color, it looks classy/fancy but because of that it dosen't match with the neck that look cheap (tuners, fret inlays), although SG junior was orginally designed to be cheap.
One humbucker is enough for some players. I've played with only one before. I still prefer two humbuckers, or even three. I also like the superstray setup.
That intro jam was great but the guitar sounds like glass being sanded......looks great though..... Put in a lollar and then maybe.... Excellent presentation though as usual.
Henning is hysterical. Love the vids! Was always told Germans were not humorous. The Sprockets stereotype. Do you have more personality than those around you? Are you more American humor wise? I'm too poor to ever leave the USA and meet other people so I'm asking you! Rock on brother!!
Hey Henning - thanks for the helpful review. On a different subject 0 I can't seem to find one of your old bass guitar lessons - has it gone for good or is it in a current/future spectredigital course?
Something else that is limiting (apart from the pickup, which i don't mind pure RnR for a good rock). They only offer it in two colours ,Pelham Blue which i don't really want and Cherry. Shame. Imo it sounded the best in the Morgan to to for definate.
Hi Henning, I was looking at this guitar and wondering how much difference there is between it and the DC junior. I have been looking at picking up a P90 guitar and also have the JA - 60 on the short list. I watched your review on that, just wondered what you thought of it compared to the DC-60?
100% agree about the bridge! I have a Chapman which had that bridge and it's awful. Gladly though a Gotoh 510 wrap around bridge was a direct replacement. Just took of the old bridge and unscrewed the posts, the Gotoh posts screw into the existing set in body parts and the Gotoh bridge fits in no problem
That style of guitar always sways out of tune from my heavy left hand, how much flex is in that axe, I need a super solid axe for all the hacking I do.
I find extremely disturbing how the fretboard ends just when the body starts. Can't even look at it. It would had been awesome for terrorizing people in Halloween, though.
That is a VERY common misconception. Classic AC/DC is clean to edge of breakup and no more than that.... they never used a "crunch" sound or more than that.
Yeah, kinda statement towards the authentic Big G: "look, this is not a SG copy, so hold your lawyers!" The JHS Vintage Guitars underwent the same transformation approx 6 years ago to keep out the lawyers.
Its a good playing and sounding guitar but unfortunately, the elephant in the room, that isn't discussed here, that oversize top horn makes it look a monstrosity and travesty by completely unbalancing the aesthetic look of the guitar. If HB had any sense they should have just made it a straight copy of the SG Junior for the rest of the World market and not sold it in the US so they didn't have to worry about Gibson litigation. The other option would have been to make two different guitar shapes for the two different markets. The guitar is cheap because SG juniors are cheap guitars to manufacturer they were always supposed to be cheaper starter guitars, for beginner musicians, its just that Gibson profiteering (and many guitarists sheep mentally that Gibson's are worth paying $1000's for whatever model they are) and in the case of the Gibson version, created a ridiculously over priced guitar out of what is a basic guitar that's cheap to manufacture. SG juniors can and should be produced cheaply, HB have proved that's possible and produced a good guitar at the end of it, its just a shame that it looks so awful but the reason for that is a legal decision not not a design decision.

Great review! Well said regarding the frequency range and eq and how it sits in a mix. :)

The single pickup is the reason I'm interested. SG's excel at the bridge PU plus you save a little money too. This is a RnR machine.

I've not even finished watching the video but I love that full mix track! Wouldn't sound too out of place on a ghost album 😁
Someday they will appreciate your humor like we do on other planets! LOL
At first I wasn’t impressed with the price, until I saw it was a set neck. Ok mega value added. Also a reinforced headstock

Really great .02, and what does KIANA think? 🤪

no, I feel this stereotype is just wrong…. it can often be a different kind of humor, but that’s normal… many cultures find different things funny.
His Humor marks him as german or was it just his accent? ;-)
Awesome intro song and lead guitar work. Great review
The guitar seems at home in Drop D through the Orange.
Also do the Phil X thing and use the tone knob to give you the neck sound 😃
what does HE know?
@@EytschPi42 LOL
The AC/DC section was amazing :)
the only Harley Benton I've owned I wasnt a fan of. But I'm willing to give them another shot
Hey Henning - thanks for the helpful review. On a different subject 0 I can't seem to find one of your old bass guitar lessons - has it gone for good or is it in a current/future spectredigital course?
the one about seeing chords on the bass? That will be in a future Spectre Course... a massive one!
@@EytschPi42 that’s the one! I look forward to it 🙂👍
Those close-up shots seemed particularly great this time.
yeah.... weird.... I wonder what I did differently??????

Nice music!
Yes, this world needs more animals at the end. Nice review by the way

would get the DC in TV Yellow with 2 P90s... it is an amazing guitar
I'm not sure what I want more, the guitar or your amp routing setup
Did I just hear a jazz version of Run To The Hills???
I like the color. Also, who is this Shirley you talk about ?
You and Leslie should take your act on the road
Sure thing. One is plenty enough as long as there’s a good tone pot.
You know, you could dial back the high end by using the *gasp* tone knob. 🤷🏻
Mr Gugu and Miss Go 50% autumn clearance sale!
Their take on a phil x signature?
I'm looking for guitar like starcaster by Fender 1 Humbucker.

This or the HB DC 580 ?
Loved the intro song

Goats : freaky eyes, friendly farmyard folks, they like to have fun too , it’s called horseplay but lots of stuff does it.
I find extremely disturbing how the fretboard ends just when the body starts. Can't even look at it. It would had been awesome for terrorizing people in Halloween, though.
Like all sg jr 🤔 but the pickguard shape is not a gibson shape, that’s strange, but I’m sure you can change easily
The pickups are always the weakest link in a Harley Benton. Good pickups are not cheap.
Through the Morgan is delicious.
“Way too much gain” for this ac/dc song.
Don’t you know if if you are going to play ac/dc by definition you have to use way too much gain?
Actually no, ACDC use surprisingly low amounts of gain.
That is a VERY common misconception. Classic AC/DC is clean to edge of breakup and no more than that.... they never used a "crunch" sound or more than that.
It's plexi all the time. With no knob gain.No distorsion at all.
Would love to have that , please send it to me,
Can't say I'm a fan of the wonky horn
Yeah, kinda statement towards the authentic Big G: "look, this is not a SG copy, so hold your lawyers!"

I dig it. Viperish.
Wouldn’t interest me because it looks like another obvious SG copy . I like to see originality .

what a load of rubbish, if you want a Gibson looking guitar just buy an Epiphone used or new.
I love HBees single pickup guitars leave me unimpressed plus it looks like an SG.... love you but hard pass
So here I am watching another video: Shape is similar to an authentic guitar but it's yet again not an authentic guitar.
What do you mean by that?
I'd even say because they don't use the exact original shape it is kind of an authetic guitar.
"Authentic" in this context is nothing but a marketing term. If you want to be taken in by marketing bullshit, that's up to you.
It's an authentic Harley Benton. 😏😏😏
Volute? That’s a guitar tit! 😆
True... so sorry!
@@EytschPi42 - You should be. Shame on you. 🤨
That thing sounds like a trash can, but with Orange it's the right way.
Also build quality looks quite subpar.
Only that few amps and cheap guitars (no ESP exhibition stuff ?), definitely not enough rock n roll this guy, never watch again.
what are you trying to say?
