    How to make BIG BLIND examinable ruclips.net/video/ODb7STcHShs/видео.html

  • @mormovies
    @mormovies 5 дней назад +6

    I feel strongly that magicians have to stop letting spectators examine their props. I can't think of another performance art form where you get to handle and examine a musical instrument or ballet shoes or paint brushes?

    • @magicorthodoxy

      Agreed

    • @westonding8953
      @westonding8953 4 дня назад +1

      Well, on one end, examinability is one thing that makes magic a unique performance art and science as no other field does this. On the other end, it probably does take away aspects such as the secrecy and mystery feeling of the art.

    • @richardshamspectacles
      @richardshamspectacles 4 дня назад

      Because the secret of the painter is not in the paintbrush but in the painter.
      In reviews or tutorials most of the time it's talk about technic not art, so it's normal spectators do the same. 😄
      Excuse me for my bad English.

    12:45 it doesn’t matter that the chips are plastic, Craig talks about this on his channel and explains that if they were clay and looked like “real chips” it would be very werid that the other side of the chips had a card on it so having it be plastic and look as if you made or like bought printed chips makes sense but at the end of the day I don’t really think a spectator will ask or care and will be so focused on how you knew the card

    I love Poker Chip magic. Most kids and young people do not use coins these days. But most are familiar with poker chips.

    Thank you, David, for another great review, and for pointing out Bicycle poker chips are also plastic. I have noted, the placement of the plastic injection location is hidden, and the quality of these chips surpass Bicycle poker chips. These props and gimmicks are also precision made and fit for purpose.

    So I just picked this up and came in the mail today saw the video in advance so I knew kinda had to work on my pattern. I always test products on my wife and kids stuff. They definitely passed the family test. My son‘s exact words were get the hell out of my head 😂 as a card Magician, who is starting to get in, ran out and do other things. This is definitely going to my EDC great product. Craig Petty released has released yet another great product.

    This would be the PERFECT trick for me. I play poker just about every weekend with my friends except that we actually use clay chips. So if pulled out these they would instantly question them. So close. I would have loved this.

    Looks great, saw Craig’s exposed video a few hours ago, my only complaint is that they’re not made out of clay, that would’ve honestly made it feel a lot better and higher in terms of quality

    • @magicorthodoxy
      @magicorthodoxy  5 дней назад +3

      Yea it would have made it more expensive and I think it would also made it "weak" as a gimmick

    • @1RandomMinecrafter
      @1RandomMinecrafter 5 дней назад +3

      Clay that thin would shatter if dropped, plastic is much more durable and will make the gimmick last

    GUILTY AS CHARGED. I've got a big mouth, I also watch too much magic and reviews and although just a keen Amateur I tend to over think everything even magic and how it's perceived. At 1st I wasn't so impressed with big blind as I commented on another review as its not a magician fooler, it's not meant to be. Ive emailed Craig and apologised for speaking without my brain being engaged 😢.
    Since then I've learnt more about the effect and Craig has even done a full exposure video.
    This has tipped the scales for me and I've ordered it!
    As well the "gaff" sticks magically to a mag safe phone 😊 if required.
    I think I'll have a lot of fun with this, it's very clever and I deeply regret my initial thoughts and comment.😢

    Thanks for the review. Mine arrives tomorrow. Interested to see how you hide the index in plain sight and the no pocket explanations. Great convincer also for so many other effects, cards mentalism etc. Imagine hitting someone with this and his atomic deck (to be released very soon). Big call but it looks better than this. Cheers David.

      He copies other magician's tricks.

    • @StViers
      @StViers 5 дней назад +1

      @@MrBurlingtonBertie Does he? With the exception of Red (11 years ago) which had huge negative consequences, his trick releases are clearly distinct enough that they have additive value.
      Saying (for example) that "chop" is a copy because chop cups have existed before, or that this is a copy of predator pack because it's a card prediction that uses an index is an impossible standard--almost every trick brought out ever is a copy of an older plot/method with tweaks and updates.

    this vs Richard sanders any card?
    just can't escape the thought is a sucker card reveal with something less suspicious vs. what looks like a straight magic store prop

    • @StViers
      @StViers 5 дней назад +2

      Is a pack of unexaminable cards, or an unexaminable wallet any less suspicious though? It's a judgement call either way! If you're the sort of person that would perform with poker chips (clay vs plastic is a moot debate--plenty of people even in the US gamble at home with plastic chips), it's no more suspicious than any magic prop--and apparently with a very easy home mod, you can make these scrutiny proof.
      I'm not going to get it because it doesn't fit in with things I do, but not because of spurious arguments that can be applied to any magic prop. Thought experiment--would clay chips that magically have a thought-of card on them be above suspicion? Obviously not, to me.

    Magic to me has become so commercial in the last few years. All or most with the promise of no skill needed. I just think anyone can now pick up a trick and be a wizz kid at magic in no time. Yes i often buy new tricks i see and like, but is it a good idea to reveal all on line ?
    Maybe im just getting an old git David.

  • @robh913
    @robh913 4 дня назад +1

    First of all, 40% isn't more than half. I will say I have this and tried it at a gig. I do hundreds of gigs a year, so I'm always looking for something new. The fact that these don't look like 'real' poker chips isn't the issue. People could see how this was done just by looking at the reveal. Of course, I don't let them handle the chips, but they didn't have to. Maybe I got a set that has a flaw, but it is pretty obvious when I turn the chips over. So, this went right into the bin.
