Players of the 'top' teams are knackered and it's levelled the playing field somewhat.

@@alexcoyg3281 but that's no different than previous seasons; there have always been at least 16-17 teams in the premier that 'benefit' from lack of European competion allowing more rest. The fact that the bottom half the table can outspend nearly every other team in Europe will certainly raise the floor, though. Combine that with a somewhat coherent leadership/recruitment structure and you will (as we've seen) pretty easily compete with the dinosaur teams that are incapable of innovating.

No! Its because all teams play the same now and same system and all players are the same. Its not really about players anymore just athletes doing a role so it's whoever works hardest.

Because the traditionally smaller clubs have all invested well and the quality of the players in general in the league has improved and it’s not just all in a few teams. A lot smaller gap between them and the “bigger” teams now. Anyone can beat anyone on their day (barring maybe a handful of teams at the bottom)
Probably the most competitive season we’ve had in ages

Say this as a Utd fan; with the combination of PSR and Glazier Debt and insane wage bill, United aren't a "big club" anymore in financial terms & being able to upgrade the squad, the squad needs upgrading and on field Utd aren't successful enough to attract the talent needed for improvement.
They've wrapped themselves in a straight jacket, jumped off the side of the boat and then remembered they're not an escape artist

To lukes point in feb 2023 Leicester were in 13th with 21 points and got relegated.
They had a squad of quality players that weren't built for a relegation battle, under an ex celtic manager that only knew how to play on the front foot.
Their form was horrendous and yet everyone insisted they were too good to get relegated.
On this trajectory spurs could absolutely get relegated. I see so many parallels with thats Leicester team

Right. So now its Liverpool leading a charmed life, and are 1st only because of the smaller clubs doing them a favour.

  • @paulcityrocker

I would have to question the character of any quality footballer who chooses to go to Man Utd. These players know Utd are an absolute mess but don't really care because of the inflated wages they pay. United's squad seems full of these types and nobody can build a consistently successful team with players who don't really care. Whereas Liverpool, for example, attract quality players who know they won't earn so much but who are motivated by the possibility of joining a successful team.

Mo Salah is reportedly on 350k a week. The Liverpool players are on good money in football terms; yes their wage bill isn't categorically insane like Uniteds, but let's not pretend they're Charity workers, they're paid their worth - although if they win the league some of the other players will be asking for more, but for now I'd say Liverpool have simply got their wage structure correct - rather than done something revolutionary. We'd be hearing mainstream football analysts go on about it 24/7 & Pool would be having their top talent pinched otherwise

    • @paulcityrocker
      @paulcityrocker 11 дней назад +1

@@ronanfitzpatrick1261 Salah really is an outlier at Liverpool. Players like Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo came for the kind of money Utd pay their kids. Clearly, professional footballers are not charity workers but some are motivated by things other than money and those are the ones who Liverpool have in abundance and Utd are sadly lacking. Scott McTominay was one of the few with character and they showed him the door.

@@paulcityrocker Salah wage reflects his contribution I think.
I posted a longer comment that disappeared, but according to Salary Sport both Gakpo & Diaz are on multiple of Amads wages, and the difference in total annual wage bill between both teams for 2025 will only be 15m.
Which if Rashford went on loan would then be the same.
And remember United are a basket case when it comes to wages

Forest, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Villa haven't won anything and won't. They'll all be put back in their place by PSR before they can ask genuine questions of Liverpool, City, Arsenal and Chelsea. A good couple of seasons is nothing, no matter how excited you all feel about it now. It'll be forgotten in a few years. Like Brighton, Swansea, Southampton, Burnley and others before them.

I can only speak from the perspective as a Bournemouth lad, but I don't give a shit if we don't get in to Europe this year. The fact that the "top teams" feel ENTITLED to Europe because they throw around insane amounts of cash is just obnoxious, and yet we HAVE WON !! - We've won vs City, MUFC, Arsenal, NUFC & Spurs, and shoulda, coulda won vs Chelsea, blah, blah, excuses, excuses - that is good enough for our little "tin-pot" team this year as far as I'm concerned. There's a difference between being a fan, and being a complete dick.
We might be a small seaside town, but fans are fans, no matter what club is theirs - from Liverpool to Tamworth (I was cheering you on vs Spurs - Great Game !!!), so how about showing some simple respect for football teams from every league, rather than just being an elitist twat ?
Every single football fan in this country wants their team to win, even if they're playing in a fucking field that has sheep in it for 6 months of the year. That's the whole point of being a supporter of your team !

@@jipster2020 I think you're missing my point. I'm saying that clubs like Bournemouth have rules stacked against them and are prevented from long term success. They'll never be allowed to buy or hold on to top players because they can't turn over revenue like Liverpool, Chelsea and City. It's fixed, rigged, fiddled. Don't let a few clubs having a few good seasons let them conceal that from you

    • @jipster2020

@ I'll be honest and say I didn't interpret what you said in that way, but now you've explained it further, I apologise for getting too heated in the moment.
Fans of smaller clubs are used to getting shit on, unless we start to do well, and then someone wants to splash the cash and buy our players and/or manager as a bandage to stop the bleeding, which I guess was your point when you followed up.
Anyway, no matter what happens, there's been a lot more happiness than dejection this year for Bournemouth, and we're enjoying every second of it while it lasts.
