- The ancient city of Tanis, once known as biblical Zoan, has a history that spans multiple ancient civilizations, and has been the source for some of the greatest treasure hoards to ever be recovered from antiquity.
Today, it is home to some incredible remnants of massive megalithic structures, and what might have been the largest stone statue ever executed by human hands. Renovated and re-claimed by ambitious kings of old, Tanis's past is shrouded in mystery.
Join me as we attempt to decipher some of it's past, and explore the history and evidence for ancient advanced technology in the capital of the delta of ancient Khemit.

What exactly do you think egyptologists are hiding from you. Aliens? These civilizations were constructed by black Africans. That is literally the only thing being hidden from the general public. In academia this is well established thou.

Yes I am a conspiracy theorist and I let my family and friends know it and they just roll their eyes at me but to my great suprise they all will be refusing this jab. I cannot see that there is any other explanation.
I read, somewhere, that the Sahara is full of nano diamonds, such as would have been produced by a cataclysmic event.
Looking around the world, I am convinced there was a lost civilisation.
Perhaps, one day, more evidence of it will be discovered, somewhere. Perhaps another Gobekli Tepi.

13:50 that horizontal cartouche carved onto what would have been a vertical obelisk is also a huge giveaway. That has to have been done after the object collapsed and was repurposed into a wall block. Surely they would have carved a vertical cartouche onto an obelisk?

But the covered over hieroglyphs were oriented the same horizontal way it seems. Another obvious tag is at 12:06. It looks like this statue was already ancient when it was tagged by Ramses. Look at how deep and sharp the tag is compared to the much more weathered necklace and skirt.

It's unbelievable that the some archeologist from the 19th century were more open-minded and much brighter in their judgment then current mainstream.
Petrie was the man if anyone who could of and should of investigated the remains of the labyrinth deep down, because as of now, it will be a miracle if ever does get explored..
Archeologist today is in it for the doo, nothing more, nothing less.
We need to dig out the sands AROUND some of these sites in Egypt. The current Egyptologist are shells of what they once were 150 years ago. The deserts around the Great Pyramids themselves could be dugout by us today and we don’t know what we would find.

A prime example of how taking mythology literally instead of figuratively/symbolically creates confusion and nonsense. The hebrew bible is mythology, not history. It records knowledge, focused on the celestial sky, in representative, personified story form. The term 'Egypt' means daytime sky, Pharaoh means daylight which rules over the day time sky, Is-Ra-El means night time sky, Red Sea means sunset/sunrise sky, ten plagues of Egypt/day sky means 10 signs of darkness coming (e.g., frogs croaking to attract mates, locust swarms blocking out the sun, etc), famine in Egypt means a dearth/suppression of stars during daylight, plagues in Egypt means stars spreading across the sky as darkness come, etc. Take mythology literally at one's own peril, and humanity's demise.

Whilst the theory has its grounds; I feel like the contemporary archaeologists may have incorrectly dated many Ancient Egyptian artifacts , sites and writings - we also don't have evidence of the high technological tools that were used to construct such objects in antiquity, discovery of which is something that I feel like would shed some light onto the enigma that is Ancient Egypt.
@@stoicsingh472 One cannot expect to find any remnants of the tools that were used to create these huge majestic & magnificent monolithic structures or statues.
It is only because of their immense sizes and what the pieces were made from (stone), that they withstood the ravages of time & nature.
It's almost impossible to obliterate these pieces. Not even great
floods or earthquakes were capable of this, some of their breakage though was possibly the result of it.
However I believe the tools used to make them have long past disintegrated & dissappeared due to passage of nature & time.

Agreed the timeline needs to be stretched back further. It looks like a later civilisation has re-purposed certain sites with crude chiselling and intrusive burials.
The dynastic Egyptians actually did say that they were a legacy civilization. Modern Egyptology dismisses that as myth. They go with "Ramses' name is tagged on everything, so he made it all. End of query. Really?
12:06 is a perfect example of the tagging of found items by Ramses. Look at how deep the tag is compared with the well weathered necklace and skirt. Ramses was tagging items that were already ancient in his time. We are closer to Cleopatra than she was to the first dynasty of Egypt.
Modern Egyptology says that over a two thousand year period in Egypt, the tools never progressed from stone balls and copper chisels to anything more intricate. Zero tool development in 2000 years!?!?!?!
Modern Egyptologys "scientists" will be the last to know the reality, as they will need to be shown (by independent researchers) and accept the true due conclusions to the evidence laid before them.

Great video Ben. A lot of good info. Petrie had no clue a lot of Ramses statues were moved to Tanis from the site at Qantir since that discovery wasn't made til a few decades ago. Whole city found beneath the surface with Ramses cartouche and his city verified. That's where Zoan/Avaris and Pi-Ramesses is located. Zoan at Tell El-Dab'a right next to Qantir. Over 10 miles from Tanis. Anyone disagreeing with that is ignoring good archaeology and what everyone agrees on. I agree much stuff was reused by kings and Pharaohs and that went back all the way to the first dynasties. Even sons defaced father's statues. I personally don't think anything in Egypt is Pre-cataclysm since all text suggest they came post cataclysm. Everything from the Egyptians says that, Plato, the Mayans..unless I'm missing something. I have no problem with 9000 BC. Gobekli Tepe was being done then. The ruins of Tanis look a bit like Abydos from overhead, very ancient. Official locations of Pi-Ramesses 30° 47′ 56″ N, 31° 50′ 9″ E and Avaris/Zoan.. 30° 47′ 14.71″ N, 31° 49′ 16.92″ E This is where they found the Hyksos wall a few years back. It's not at this site here you are showing. Was moved from Qantir location.,

And what's on Temple walls (Edfu) and the Dendera Zodiac. It all suggests post-cataclysm to me. All similar stories. Why did they come to Egypt...the Gods? Their Island was sank in a great cataclysm. But maybe though. We in some cases haven't a clue to what went on 2-3000 years ago.

Hi Ben, great video, love all your work. When I took a tour of Egypt, the Egyptologist giving the tours of all the sites (such as Luxor) happily told us that Ramases II wrote his name all over statues and temples to claim them as his own, however at the same time told us these sites are dated by the names written in hieroglyphs at these sites?! That's the contradiction of mainstream Egyptology right there...
Is it? Or is it possible to tell an original inscription from one done on top of an older one?

Interesting how life looked like in 14000-13000 years ago. Thanks to this channel and many more like this, we have an understanding of work and skills and these awesome buildings and statues that are still here. Thinking about walking around there in 14000 years ago..thinkin that in the future, when the world has risen up from what is about to happen..the world is changed so much, that we have trouble to even recognise our past.

Huge time span between the artifacts in ancient Egypt and the people that inherited the land many thousands of years later. A push back to the time of a highly sophisticated society is necessary to understand the true history of earth.

What really bends my nut more than anything is the high polish these things STILL possess. That is the real unreal expression of these pre-history craftsmen. We are talking thousands upon thousands of years open to the elements and yet they still have this incredible polish. For me this is the true genius of the long forgotten craftsmen. And i don't use genius lightly. There are no words to describe the ingenious skill that is at work here and in various other sites that show this beautiful work. The idea that biologically modern humans, that were just as smart as we are now, just kicked around the planet as hunter gatherers for over 294,000 years and then suddenly decided to build the Pyramids, is hilarious! At least the institution of archeology has given us some comic relief, if little else.
It's not unreasonable to make this assertion. We've gone from not knowing electricity exists to a world that is run by it in 200 years. Remember the North American Natives managed to inhabit the continent for 20,000 years and produced maybe a handful of structures that survive to this day.

All the really old stuff had no writing or greatly predates the writing later added. I would think if the original builders had the hyrogliphs they would have used them ? On the other hand I find it hard to believe the builders of the great pyramid didn't have writing.
I'm undecided on this. In later times (new kingdom) they definitely had access to iron tools and could do very good work when carving glyphs. Yousef Awyan has said that he has never seen any evidence for machine tools in glyphs, even the best ones, which means they could have all been done in dynastic times. I think there are a couple of examples of shapes that are contemporary with artifacts that DO show machining marks (statues, boxes, obelisks, slabs) that were later incorporated into glyphs. I am hoping to investigate this further on my next trip to egypt.
@@UnchartedX So let me get this straight...Yousef is saying that ALL glyphs were done by hand without tools?? I find this hard to believe, because the glyphs in granite look like a cookie cutter was used, or some high tech machine cut them out perfectly. ??? I saw him say that in a video of yours , but I didnt fully understand if that is what he was saying. Can you expound further please?
@@BrickWilbur2020 yes, that's what he says. Bear in mind that with iron tools it is possible to do very high quality work. Evidence for machining is specifically what he's looking for - and (at least according to the last time I spoke with him) he has yet to see that in glyphs. Personally I lean towards your conclusion, that some of the glyphs look too good to have been done by hand - but I don't want to underestimate the dynastic egyptians, they were very skilled, and once they had iron they could work granite far more easily. I break down the 'evidence' for ancient high tech into a couple of categories: machining, precision, and the logistics of lifting and moving the largest artifacts (or things like the serapeum boxes into tight underground spaces.) I'm still undecided as to whether some of the glyphs come from the builder times or not, and as Yousef will be our guide on the tour in December I'm really looking forward to investigating this further then.

I needed some perspective when talking about weights in tons. Roughly add 10% if we’re talking metric. 1500 ton blocks of granite is too abstract.
I checked online quickly for common heavy things. I already know that my tractor/ trailer with a load can be 80000 pounds or a puny 40 tons. A diesel locomotive comes in at 210 - 220 tons. A Boeing 747 735000 pounds or 367 tons.

they were skilled at it. If you look closely at many of Ramses II's carvings he made sure to have them done very deep - presumably to prevent future rulers from erasing his name easily. This is one reason why we see so many examples of his work.
@@UnchartedX are they removing a layer of granite to get rid of the old writings? It's hard to tell from the video. Too me it looks like two different masons started from opposite ends and when they met the writing did not match.
@@funitoo I can't give you any links right now, but there are several examples illustrated on the net about how things were written over, and what the original (or previous) marks looked like. One of the most well documented examples is the infamous helicopter and tank glyph that some theorists (I won't call them fringe, but it's not a very solid theory) use to show that the Egyptians were an advanced civilization, but what common archaeology surmises was that the old one was filled in with plaster and they carved a new glyph on top. Over the years, the plaster fell and the glyph left behind was a blending of the two. I don't understand how such a glaringly obvious and famous example of re-marking original glyphs from a successive ruler is mostly ignored when dealing with topics such as this. The very excuse they make to downplay helicopters in Egypt would ironically explain so much of the confusion regarding attributions in ancient Egypt.
@@Skinflaps_Meatslapper I am familiar with the helicopter case. It's plaster so easy to do. I am interested how it is done in granite. This video is the first I have ever seen talking about it.
@@funitoo They carve the new glyphs deeper and locate them in a way that'll cover up the original, using existing marks if possible, or by refacing the surface entirely.
Fine Ben. Though, the cataclysm (Younger Dryas) may have happened earlier since radiometric dating is flawed. Datings may have been driven into the past by Reservoir effects (FRE, MRE) or water bubbles cavitation. Lightning and EMF may have also played a role on that. Interesting... I really would like to see someone go deep inside the Great Pyramid and Optical luminescence test a block that has NOT been exposed to light since it was built. This would give a pretty exact year it was built. Any takers out there!?

It's obviously an intensely interesting subject, but one thing is to keep pointing at a conservative establishment that won't budge, quite another is to actually find further proof that civilizations more advanced than the Egyptians existed millenia back in time. You're pointing out some proof related to precision tools and megalithic structures, but where's the rest of the proof? Where's the layers of settlement, of trash, etc. that all humans through times have left behind?
The answer is it isn't there or hasn't been discovered yet.
We've found plenty of proof of hunter-gatherer societies and early agrarians in the same time period you're describing.
And that's why the conservatives are being conservative... So maybe tone down the indignation and keep focus on the work of discovery that you do so very well.

@Allen - Yeah, that's not a solid foundation to build a theory on. A hypothesis maybe, but not one that'd get you much notice in mainstream circles.
Also there would be more evidence of such a widespread event. Not to mention that if this civilization would've existed long enough to move out of a hunter-gatherer society - they would've left behind further evidence in the ground that a major solar or asteroid event wouldn't have been able to touch.

The answer is that we're either not looking for it, or we're not recognizing it as such. Take the Clovis culture of North America. It was generally agreed upon that they were the first here, and nothing existed below the line where they found Clovis artifacts. So whatever was below that point was left undisturbed and the narrative continued, confirmed status quo. It wasn't until people began digging deeper did they notice there was more to be found, and now numerous examples of pre-Clovis artifacts have been unearthed. The narrative is now slowly changing but in mainstream archaeology, the Clovis are still considered to be the first...even though we now have proof otherwise. There are many cultures throughout history that we have literally no evidence for, barring one type of artifact, tool, pottery, etc. that were recovered. No settlements, no layers of midden, no documents or roads or human remains. They still exist, nonetheless. Iron and steel would leave no trace, a vast city of adobe brick buildings turn to dust and become buried in sand, roads disappear, objects and places repurposed beyond recognition, only certain well preserved items would leave anything for us to find and if you mistakenly attribute them to a later culture....you'll find literally no evidence of an earlier civilization.
What Ben is doing is exactly what you're wanting. He's simply pointing out that in order for archaeology as a whole to find more examples of such things, to answer these questions and make sense of what we have, these conservative individuals have to stop hampering the types of research and excavations necessary to prove such things. If you were labeled a pseudo-paleontologist and mocked in every journal possible for positing a theory that dinosaurs were wiped out by a comet, losing the support and funds necessary to find such proof, would you continue searching for an impact crater out of your own pocket? Would you drop the subject, or would you go broke eventually and waste your life being ridiculed trying to find tidbits of evidence? Keep in mind, that if you believe any of what Ben is saying here, you are being mocked by that same community for being so stupid as to believe in it.

And none of these sites contain anything but the expected level of hunter/gatherer technology. So that's a rather minor change of archaeological history compared to the one yall are agitating for here...
Furthermore I believe you're equating the state of corrupt Egyptian and Middle Eastern dictatorships - with a lot of special interests to take into account, with the ordinary university movements of scientists and researchers.
