Been listening to Trio for almost two and a half years. Only recently have I discovered this song, Burn, and quite a few others. I think that might make me a horrible huge fan lol
not at all. After being fans since Goddammit I didn't think they could be there for this long. This song is the story of me going to classes and social functions anymore. They do so well expressing feelings in music.
As much as I love out dear Mr. Skiba and his amazing vocals, I gotta admit, Dan's voice is a hell of a lot smoother. Matt's voice sounds different on practically every album (and FUCK Damnesia, there I said it) but Dan's voice has sounded like milk all these years. If milk had a sound. (It's super fucking smooth, is basically what I'm getting at.) Also: Why is Matt's voice gradually getting higher over the years?! Explain this shit.
Umbriel Valentine Rivers Cuomo and Billie Joe have also gotten higher over the years. Matt's voice sounds like it's cleared up quite a lot since their first album, also got higher. Except his voice sounds lower on Alkaline Trio's newest album for some reason. And apparently Dan and Matt were both sick and it affected vocals during Good Mourning. Dan has an interesting voice too, I didn't realize how cool it sounds with acoustic. Alkaline Trio is such a great band in general too. They're all so underrated.
Dan’s voice is hands down the better of the two. I miss Matt’s grainy scratchy voice. Alkaline trio is not a acoustic band but I get why they made that album.

i dunno if anyone else picks up on this, but singing just seems so natural to derek. he doesn't have to try to hit a note he just sings, it's as easy as humming for him. i'm pretty sure he's never hit a bum note.

It's easy to be pitch perfect when you're singing in a low tone, no matter what your real voice sounds like. It's never easy to be pitch perfect when you sing high, no matter how high your voice is. I don't care who sings the song, I like a decent amount from both singers, I'm just saying that it's easier to be 'perfect' when you're singing low like that.
yeah he just doesn't seem to have to try. in this video matt totally struggles at his part which isn't even that high and derek's just bashing away at the drums singing along without really thinking about it - and he sings the hardest part. he's singing matt's backing vocals that had to be autotuned the shit out of on the original record.
