    I got a Scx10 Pro very shortly after they were released. Decent build. But I will say for something sold as a scale COMPETITION crawler I was let down. Yeah it performed decent out of the box, but it WILL NOT outperform the VRD in 100% stock form and built per the instructions. It will take a little tuning and some LOW placed weights like brass knuckles and rear axle caps to be a good performer.
    I think I’m running 60-70wt shock oil, and silver Mini T springs as well as some DEEZ shock bandz. The factory springs are toooo soft.
    ALSO the factory Axial aluminum motor mount sucks. Bearing fit is too loose and they’re not spaced as far apart as they are in the plastic motor mount so this caused excessive run out and end play of the spur gear and required shimming of the spur gear shaft to clean that up and get consistent motor pinion and spur gear mesh.

    Most excellent! Been debating a Pro or VRD, and so am eager to see how they compare. Was leaning toward the VRD, but the Axial does have some features I like.

      I don’t own an VRD, but I do own a SCX10Pro and a vanquish VS4-10 Phoenix portal and I’d go VRD if I were in your shoes.

      Probably the direction I'll go, but I'm not in a rush and do want to see how this plays out. I also think about just putting a Zoku chassis on my VS4-10. Decisions, decisions.

    The screw theoiry is an interesting theory, and I have the same experience with Tamiya kits, and RC4WD, and the 3 axletubes, no they are not the same. one is 72.27mm
    and the two others are 73.25mm that is a difference of 0.98 mm. The one in front is just shy of a mm shorter.

    Those axle shafts are 2 long rear, shorter front. All 3 are not the same size.

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  5 месяцев назад +3

      And I somehow managed to luck my way into getting the two that are the same length on the rear axle. The righthand tube for the front axle is 0.98mm shorter than the two back axle tubes, which is one of the stupidest things I have ever encountered in my life. Viva Axial! Imagine a world where they just move the pumpkin over 1mm to the left and use three identical tubes! The mind reels!

    does an od3 transmission have similar gear reduction to a 3 gear. i have a gold 3gear with dig i am trying to fit in my ascent and its going to be tight and its going to need a adapter but i don't have any good materials to make it out of, and i am thinking about a injora capra cage build and was thinking a 2low,but if i can find a easier fitting transmission for the redcat, dig would be nice for the capra. i am going to use some cheap aluminum amazon capra axles and overdive is cheap for those, and i need overdrive in the ascent. treal has gen9 18% or 28% overdrive for $25. i want to keep the gen9 axles because otherwise its not an ascent. maybe i could get Just a meus rear axle and would it (if it has more gear reduction) get natural underdrive? it would be more ground clearance for sure

      OD-3 is 3.66:1 not including the spur/pinion. IIRC, the spur is a 44T, and you can run pinions from 9T to 17T, though I've never personally seen a 48P pinion smaller than a 12T. That is nevertheless 14.64:1 at the box on a 12T. Comparatively, a typical 3-gear will be in the 11 or 12 to 1 final. I think that's why they call it a "straight axle box," but I just enjoy the additional gear reduction.

    I started building shocks with small syringes so i have the same amount of oil in all the shocks any thoughts on that???

    • @CrawlerCanyon
      @CrawlerCanyon  5 месяцев назад +2

      It's honestly not a bad idea-- but how do you determine what the correct amount is from the start?

    • @Organized-_-Chaos
      @Organized-_-Chaos 5 месяцев назад +2

      @CrawlerCanyon I fill the shock all the way up and use the syringe to remove the oil and use that for a baseline amount and adjust?
      Or I start by measuring the oil amount in a prassemble shock

    So, purple threadlock for the screws that go into metal? Or depending on the lenght of the screw you use one or another?
    Oh man, I always fail those games of "dont read this", "dont look at that". After 2 minutes, I failed again the damn game!!!
    Why dont you build another VRD just for the comparison? Its would be just your 4th-5th VRD 🤣😝
    I FAILED THE GAME AGAIN AT THE END 🤦‍♂

      Nope. Far too expensive for me. 25 bucks for 8oz? I consider my CV grease to be expensive, and it's about half that. A greasegun tube of Red 'n Tacky is like $7 and will last a decade or more.

    The 10 pro was very dissapointing for me. The belly hangs low, coupled with the low clearance it just got outperformed. Also its dang heavy with that unnecessary gearbox.
    Tha axles and servi mount shines plenty tough when i donated them to a skid forward, high clearance chassis like the Pathfinder.
