For those new to salmon or trout fishing OR posting videos... THAT is how to release a fish. Never out of the water - minimal touching and quick release. Well done sir!
Awesome video man, I'm from Windsor ON, so I get only a few opportunities to go out. I haven't caught any yet, but I went out a handful of times this year, any advise so I don't drive up 4 hours and get skunked? lol
@@sunbros.2002 well sir, the salmon are done, but steelhead still around. Come up during the week if you can, less angler pressure. Come a couple days after a rain - we just had rain last night. Fish the lower sections of river - slow, deep pools. The fish are not jumping in December, so be sure to fish downstream of any dam or obstruction. Winter is usually slow fishing for steelhead, but they are in their best condition of the year. We enjoy the winter because less anglers and the invigorating weather. If you want sheer numbers of fish, wait until March.
Went to check for salmon at the credit river first week of September. Although I didn't see any, the sheer amount of people fishing with crazy setups fishing for nothing was absurd. (we were there for like 3-4 hours)
Im also there from late August too!. For me, that's beauty of salmon fishing. It is tough to hook one, but when you hook it, it gives you so much fun. Also You can see amazing sunset and moon while fishing.
@owenvandyk5076 evening is always crowded. When ppl catches salmon, it will be crowded till 12 or more. I went there 5 am in the morning several time and there is always someone at least 5. I will try tmr morning
@@theastuteangler 4ft from float to hook in less than 2ft of water (as seen in 6:45 when compared to the length of the fish). There really isnt any explanation other than flossing at that point. I don't care or judge if you floss, but using eggs to do so is just a waste imo.

when the leader breaks does the hook stay in the fishes mouth or does it come out? ( i am pretty new to salmon fishing )
If the salmon has insurance a doctor can pull it out. If not they usually just live with it forever.
The hook eventually falls out. The wound opens up. Ive cought many fish with a 2nd hook in their mouth from.a break off .
