  • This is my very first polymer clay landscape. I hope you enjoy the time lapse. I know it isn't what I regularly do. Let me know how you like it.
    Someone in the comments said the originator of this type of work is Artistic Variations here on youtube. I don't know who invented Polymer Clay "painting" but I just looked up Artistic Variations, and the work is amazing!!! I just subscribed. Here is the channel link for those of you interested in more polymer Clay Painting techniques. / @artisticvariations8172

      There are tiny and regular sized altoid containers. I am considering covering one of them soon. I just have to decide what I to do on them. That may be a less daunting project to try too. :)

    Sorry I have not been uploading videos, my wired internet connection, to my computer with my editing software has been down for months, and I have not been able to fix it. I think it is the wiring in the wall itself,and they didn't wire it through tubes in the walls. The room is upstairs, and the wireless connection does not reach that room. :( I am still doing artwork, and may be trying my hand at painting soon. I will see what I can do, about fixing the connection, but I can't rewire the house :(

    Wow! That is just spectacular! I bet it is even more stunning in person where you can really see all the texture and tiny little details. I have been toying with the idea of making some sort of clay piece to hang on the wall instead of the usual jewelry and trinkets. Of course I could ever create anything as complex as you did, but maybe something smaller and much simpler.

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  7 лет назад +1

      It took a solid two weeks worth of work. I think in the future unless it is much simpler I will be doing much smaller areas. It fed my soul in a way the miniature food doesn't.

    Very cool. Even though you and Artistic Variations have done the same thing - a landscape - the results are very, very, very different!! I like both styles and I think I might try to do something like this myself. I thought your blending technique was rather nice how you did the clouds in the sky. I was very surprised that you chose to shade using tiny balls of clay - your finished piece looks very much like pointillism whereas Artistic has more of a smooth blending technique. The water came out very nice - and you only used a few colors for it! The only hitch is that you cut it out either slightly crooked or you forgot to reshape neatly around the edges to fit the notebook. The clay drawing itself is lovely.

      I love watching Heather Rooney drawing time lapses. I figured that a time lapse is the only way I could show something like this. It was so satisfying for the creative part of me. I hope you do try it :)

      I've never heard of Heather Rooney, though I love drawing time lapses. It is so amazing to me when people have such an awe-inspiring talent of being able to draw something to look completely realistic. I'll have to look up Heather Rooney before I take on this project for inspiration. That is fantastic that it satisfied the creative side of you! I think that is definitely the most important thing when having a hobby like this: to satisfy what you love and do what YOU want to create. :)

    This was great to watch. I'm really new to polymer clay so if my comment sounds strange please forgive me. This time-lapse didn't give any indication this cover was baked. Or is that just a given. I'd be worried the cover would melt.

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  2 года назад +1

      Sorry I have been logged out a really long time. I baked the clay alone. Then used clear Elmer's school glue to attach it to the cover. I have since sliced it off and re-glued it to a different journal cover.

    • @heathernwells
      @heathernwells  7 лет назад

      Feel free to try it. I can't remember all the colors. Mostly base color, but I added varying amount of white to each color I used, to create different shades of the same color. Below are the colors I think I used.
      Black, white, Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, Ecru, Spanish Oak, Green, I don't remember the names of the other colors at this moment, but the pale blue was the sculpey ll pastel looking blue. all other clay was the premo. Ultra marine, the really dark purple, a green - yellow color, and the bright almost neon yellow. Mostly mixing small amounts of clay with white, and some of the colors together to create many shades and colors. An example is the ultra marine with the dark purple, then separating some, to add a little white, then separating some more and adding white to that, etc.
