Thank you for preserving these wonderful photographs of Anna Pavlova and with such beautiful music. How wonderful to live in an age where we can sit down with our computer and find such wonderful gems.
A beautiful video. The costumes she wore, even in black and white, seem so much more detailed and elaborate than those made today. Thank you, belenprofe.
Великая русская балерина Анна Павлова. Нежная , хрупкая, такая трогательная, вся воздушная , столько грации в каждом движении. Какое счастье было современникам Анны Павловой видеть её на сцене.
Exquisite--a sublime presentation so well done--and I agree with the comment of sbgardener5. To me, the name Anna Pavlova has always been synonymous with grace and with holding a place in the pantheon of the very best in ballet. Thank you for this video.
There is a video of her performing The Dying Swan on RUclips. "Inspired by swans that she had seen in public parks and Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem "The Dying Swan", Anna Pavlova (who had just become a ballerina at the Mariinsky Theatre) asked Michel Fokine, who had also read the poem, to create a solo ballet for her for a 1905 concert being given by artists from the chorus of the Imperial Mariinsky Opera." (wikipedia)
She is other worldly. Ethereal. Thankyou. When I was a child I used to say " You look like The Dying Swan. What's the matter ?" I had no idea what it meant.
ANNA PAVLOVA... THE UNDYING SWAN One of the very few I look up to and who's life gives me strength to walk my path with LOVE and let the others shake their heads because they do not understand the people like She was. As not many do know so much about her and her life... She did also live truly fully and no money in the world could replace the wisdom of path like she had... The Primadonna of all Primadonnas stayed true in her heart and did understand to tresure her private life even when she was in the spotlights daily. The Original rebel of Ballet and The One Who reminds me of the Power Of Love, Power of Will, Grace, Strength to go against all and following the heart no matter what the cost was and who the world would say...
when she come to México she danced one of our typical dances :D there she is dressed with Puebla's regional clothes (i don't know if you understand my english)
Анна Павлова на фото в молодости очаровательна красива с возрастом естественно менее красива но остается в памяти леген дарной исполнительницей умирающего лебедя М. Фокина
either way, tutugirl4life is absolutely entitled to prefer margot fonteyn. she didn't rudely criticise pavlova or anything so there's nothing wrong with her opinion.
Nice tribute, except for some inaccuracy. Pavlova entered the school at age 10, 1891. Petipa resigned in 1903, at age 85. Her teachers were Nicolai and Sergei Legat, Yekaterina Vazem, Pavel Gerdt, and until her death, Enrico Cecchetti.
I find Pavlova more modern to my eye than subsequent classical dancers. And her openness to world dance part of that. The shoes she wore look different to the modern shoe, much less blocky, more pointed ? The effect is quite different, almost airborne in an arabesque en pointe.
Yes, Cecchetti was a true Maestro, and hard taskmaster. But he knew of her delicate structure and nerves, and always kept that in mind. He also reminded her to not overdo. Pointe shoes got more blocky as the 'toe box' construction began, and got more and more supportive. Now corps sounds like a herd of cattle during a stampede, because of this change. It also affected training, too.

The Dying Swan.....hauntingly beautiful and so real. Brings tears to my eyes
A lovely inspiring few moments. There is something infinitely touching about this film ... some pictures over a hundred years old.

This is real class. Anna was loved all over the world.
Wonderful!!! I loved the choice of music, also. The photo of Anna Pavlova with all the suitors which you entitled "Swan Lake" is really "Christmas".
Qué joya! Qué encanto! Una presentación SUBLIME!
Sublime, etérea, única. Un ángel que pisó este mundo.
Such a beautiful and moving tribute.

OMG! That pic of her with the Boston Terrier and English Bulldog, I knew I loved her because of Rukmini Devi, but this!!!!
What a beautiful clip. She danced, in her own words, to bring joy into people's lives...and she certainly fulfilled that brief.
This was a well put together video my two daughter aged nine and eleven enjoyed it thank you.

God danced through her. Not one person will ever be able to surpass her. Not even one.
Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!
such a magnificent photos
2:52: it's not her, it's the actress Galina Beliaïeva, acting as Anna Pavlova in the biopic from 1983.
Too thin and too tanned. Yes.
I am wondering how much of this choreography survives?
Her main teacher was enrico cecchetti. He trained her privately for 3 years
homenaje a la más grande bailarina de su epoca
No de su época: de la historia

Great video over-all, but she was almost 50 when she died, not 51.
Thank you
なんと美しい人なんだろうか…
My mother's name is Rada like her character.

The photograph of her being taught by Cechetti - amazing to see that.
