Son nom est Quito de Baussy et il a 30 ans et coule une paisible retraite chez Eric Navet. C'est le cheval français le plus médaillé, en 1990 il est double champion du monde individuel et par équipe à l'âge de 8 ans et en 1991 champion d’Europe individuel.
Helmets were originally not made with buckles. They fit the head well enough to stay on and protect the skull from the impact of falling. Once your head hit the ground, the helmet would pop off. It's just simply how it used to be.
I think they didn't have any buckle then, I mean I have very often watched old films where no helmet had a buckle (sorry if there is some fault in my English...)
Well for one thing, this likely wasn't even a helmet. Most riders back then just wore traditional hunt caps, that offered no impact protection whatsoever... may as well have been wearing a Nike cap. ;)
