Merry Christmas Hans! Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas filled with joy. Thank-you for the many great videos this past year and the great new IoTT products. Your channel is truly inspiring for the development of DCCEX and model railroading electronics. Looking forward to what you will come up with in the upcoming year. See you then!

How does using the AUX shield and this Silver hat differ to the Red Hat ?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Happy New Year to you! The RedHat makes DCC EX a wired Loconet command station. The SilverHat makes an Arduino to a DCC booster, well, up to six DCC boosters with up to 8 Amps track current each. You can use the SilverHat booster with any DCC system, but when using it as booster for a Loconet system, you have some additional functionality as it can talk back to the network.
Thanks to modular design, the core components are the same in both cases: Arduino, DCC AUX and a PowerShield per track output. The peripheral components are different depending onthe purpose: RedHat shield for the command station, Tinkerface shield for the booster.
