@@tonystewart6592 interesting hearing your memories ,and I take your points about Shaka having a (sometimes big) influence in other musical sub-genres. As an aside I used to really enjoy those occasions when Shaka dropped a tune such as 'Feel like jumping'! So many tracks from so many artists were introduced directly to me by Shaka and the majority, but not all, shared certain characteristics that marked them out, if you like, as something noteworthy. But also, you nearly always understood why that music had caught Shaka's attention. In a way, his personal endorsement transcends the labels we otherwise use for a tune, like say "This is a steppers riddim' -- because adding 'as played by Jah Shaka' would confer a further kind of official Approved status. For decades I was collecting music every minute of my non-working days as well, but often, hearing a certain music at Shaka was the way I discovered it. Parking myself for hours on the front desk at Dub Vendor & Daddy Kool was always fruitful, but I went to Shaka dances to find out what I needed to find out about. (again as an aside, the main reason I recorded many dozens of live sessions was so I had time, later, to identify & then find those musics) . Put in simple terms, for someone like me, Shaka playing something made it immortal, and (for me, anyway) that status does not wear off, ever. Hope my comment / reply of sorts, taken in the positive spirit it is offered. Rest in Peace Jah Shaka
