Not sure, but I think it might be a crime even if he had used his own money, but it would be much harder to proof that the silencing was done because of campaign related reasons.

Instead, he had Cohen pay her, then reimbursed Cohen, calling it "legal fees." $130K got grossed up for taxes and a bonus for "a job well done." (how does THAT fit with the Defense's characterization of the transaction?) He spread the payments out over a year to make them look like monthly billing. HE SIGNED THE CHECKS. In sum, Trump has been caught mischaracterizing payments to commit an election violation. Trump is f**ked. For 15 seconds with a porn star. In a sense, it's kind of like he got a dose of the Clap.
The documents prove the case. If he isn't found guilty on at least that, something is terribly wrong with the jury.

Stormy Daniels is us in that she represents an average person's treatment by the justice system. There's no denying that sleepy don is getting preferential treatment. And this truth is devestating to people who have accepted our justice system as fair and carried out equally for all. If he is acquitted, I believe it would be jury nulification. That they could believe that he was in a room alone with her or any other woman and did not engage in relations in light of the access hollywood tape and his womanizing reputation, is laughable.
