I think this will work better for me since I don't have a bench, or vice. Also, not needing to go through the process of making sure the forks are aligned is nice. - Thanks!

I think removing the handlebars and doing the other stuff you described might take just as long as removing the wheel and pulling the forks off.

I'd argue it takes longer doing it the way he did in this video, but probably not by much. To each their own. taking the wheel off and sliding forks out of tubes with a little 12v impact takes literally 3-4 minutes make and ur forks are on the bench.

Don’t agree, I do it this way, pretty much 4 bolts to move the bar and lay it over the speedometer, no need to remove anything else, vs the alternate way which requires loosening triple clamps 8 pinch bolts, then 4 pinch bolts on axel remove axel, remove wheel, slide forks out, place in vice grip, remove springs. Then do in reverse, and now you got to go through realigning everything, brakes, getting the right torque on each pinch bolt, insuring your axel is aligned correctly with your forks, correct height on each fork line markers, thats a lot of actions versus his method. Try it

Good way to do it but since i did it both ways i figured its a lot easier to just take the wheel out and remove forks. Takes 20 mins to change the springs

Great video! You think this will work to flush the old oil out?

You do not need that special socket.

I love these after the fact, but this is what I did videos. I tried taking the caps off and all they do is click and won't come all the way out of the fork tubes 😞

I have these same forks. WPXplor.2023 fe450. Question for you. I have the 50mm motion pro wrench. But I don't have the "Preload Socket" you have in video. Can I still do this job for my new springs just with 50mm?To unscrew and screw back on.
You turned the clickers "counter clockwise" all the way! And do you leave the preload on zero marked area? Thanks. Merry Christmas to you.

I bought a cheap 32 socket, and with and angle grinder made two slots - Instant cheap preload socket.

Why would you change springs and not change oil ??

Why would I change oil that doesn't need changed?

My racetech springs come with washers for setting preload. I’ve seen multiple videos now about swapping springs on these forks and no mention about setting internal spring preload?

@@eriknash8783 I am confused about the preload too. My 2018 has 470mm springs, I have to compress the spring to get the top cap to thread on so I have no idea what to consider zero, let alone how much preload since I can't tell where the starting point is.
