This Redskin team was overlooked. They were 6th in scoring offense and 6th in scoring defense. A real solid team. Would have had a chance at the super bowl if not for injuries. Still could not have beaten the Dolphins.
I like the playoffs game where Darrell Green ran a punt return for a touchdown and interception for a touchdown to win in playoff to go on and win the Super Bowl win
I did the same in 2010 while I was only 26 years of age. After some years I missed the ol' Sunday football games and I'm back to my ol' self again and watching these games from decades ago ! HTTR!
I quit watching when they made the Redskins change their name..College football is better than the Pros nowadays in the Pro game they can't even tackle hard but in College they can I just don't care for it anymore I wish everybody would quit watching, playing ...its so unentertaining nowadays but I do like watching these 70's and 80's Redskins ...Hail to the Redskins! Death to the NFL.
They wouldn’t get another chance at a Vince Lombardi trophy until the 1982 season, unfortunately, not the 1974 season. After Allen left, Jack Pardee took over as coach and had a decent team, but one that could never get over the top. He was fired after going 6-10 in 1980, then Bobby Beathard suggested Joe Gibbs as head coach and the Redskin’s history would never be the same begging in 1981. He started with an 0-5 record, but finished the season out 8-8. Gibbs would not only win the division in his second year as head coach, but take them all the way to the super bowl. The Redskins would exact revenge on the Miami Dolphins just a decade after being shutout offensively by them in Super Bowl VII. John Riggins forth down run for over 60 yards for the go ahead TD is considered one of most memorable plays in a Super Bowl. I think that beating the reigning world champions, Dallas Cowboys in the championship game was almost a bigger accomplishment for the Redskins that season than winning the super bowl? “We want Dallas! We want Dallas!”, was the cry from the stands as RFK Stadium shook like an earthquake had hit the Nation’s Capital. They had also eliminated Dallas from the playoffs and dashed their hopes for a chance to repeat as world champions back in 1972.
These were true rivalries in each Division! There was way less player movement back in the 70's ,so these teams would really grow to dislike each other playing twice a year.....
While his teams won in the regular season, George Allen was too conservative in his philosophy for his Redskins teams to win in the playoffs. Overall, the Redskins were 2-5 in the playoffs under Allen.
Sonny Jurgensen was one of the best pure passers in the history of the game. Marino and Jurgensen not much difference in arm strength or accuracy. Actually arm strength Sonny likely was better. Release Marino
Sonny Jurgensen vs. Roman Gabriel. Has there ever been another matchup featuring two quarterbacks who played for the same high school? I guess Peyton vs. Eli.

I had to give the NFL the ole RIP 2 years ago. I choose to remember things as they used to be

The over the hill gang.
Was finally over the hill.
Coy Bacon should be in the HOF as the master of the sack. RIP.
George Allen treated Sonny Jurgensen like crap. Didn't allow him on the sidelines during the Super Bowl versus Miami..
This was the year of the 12-2 Dolphins better than the 14-0 team. The Vikings were the NFC best.
Those George Allan redskins teams were really good and talented and competitive but they couldn’t win the big one!
3:18: Yep, certainly LOOKS like Bush Stadium.
That Larry brown never got a break did he
He gave everything he had. Old school football. Never got the credit he deserved.
Unitas was still playing 1973?
Not only that the guy behind him and his replacement that year was Dan Fouts.
It must have been uncomfortable as hell to have that goalpost up your ass in a goal line stance.

In those days offensive linemen blocked a lot differently than they do today
Would you please post the season highlights for the 1977 Miami Dolphins? Thank you
I still have games to do for 1977 but something like that is in the works in the future.

Terry Bradshaw and Joe Ferguson
Allen did treat Sonny like crap. He tried to start trouble between the two.
Hamburger 🍔 with Bacon🥓 and Deadskins.
The Redskins went one and out in the playoffs in 3 of next 5 seasons for George Allen 75 and 77 they didn't get in
6:10 right back atcha busta!!
Redskins had hamburger and bacon on defense.
Not a good opening week for Mike Garrett! Charger's 0 - Mike Garrett 21.
I preferred playing football on grass than artificial turf
7-0 at RFK
