Seems a lot of you are curious as to how to play it, that's awesome! On CovertOwl's RUclips channel, you can find in his channel description a step-by-step walkthrough of how to download it and what to do. Hope this helps! www.youtube.com/@CovertOwl
I remember playing the Spies vs. Mercs mode on Double Agent. Even when you were playing as the merc, it honestly felt like a horror game with all the lights going out, vague scuffling in the air ducts above you, trying to desperately find this one guy who could sneak up on you and snap your neck. Best multiplayer experience ever, my mind cannot be changed.
Used to link up 4 xboxs and 4 TVs to play this as a kid. Legendary experiences I will never forget. We played 16 player Halo as well, but the 4 most hardcore of us would play this afterwards. So hard to make a game happen, but so good when it finally manifested.
The best part about this mode is it's tied to the single player campaign, particularly in Pandora Tomorrow where it first appears. The Spies are hunting down the pox boxes that Sadono distributed, and ARGUS (the Mercs) doesn't ask questions so it makes sense they guard the things. (It's confirmed in a cutscene near the end of the game at 9:42 in this vid here: ruclips.net/video/TkwCjCJpFm4/видео.htmlsi=4dVNNuDCvBlhynwP. ) In future games the connection is not so evident but it's easy to speculate there is (save for Double Agent, it's a whole different time from what I saw.) It's one of those things that really make you appreciate how it all influences one another. And therefore makes it much more frustrating when people do it again in more recent games with arguably brainless ramifications. (Looking at you and your Esports *"training sessions,"* Siege.)
Thank you for shedding some light on this. Ubisoft has a weird habit of creating unique multiplayer experiences and then throwing them out and forgetting about them. (Spies vs. Mercs, Assassin’s Creed MP)
Man what a great video. I use to think chaos theory was just a worse conviction but actually getting a look at the gameplay makes me really want to play it.
Ayy, love the use of my boy Dopey's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory GMod addon and Elan's map. Niiceee! Edit: Lmao the coinidence, one of your friends' usernames is *Dopey*Dog.
Hey, thanks for using my map Gm_presidential_palace for the Gmod B-roll footage, it really warms my heart ❤ The map still isn't finished so I apologize if any issues occured when recording lol
I only found this game mode once Double Agent came out - played loads of that on my PS3 (even if the singleplayer campaign was hot garbage). I remember watching some Let's Plays of the Blacklist verion, and it seemed stupid fun too. Not sure if it's still possible to play either of those - so very glad to hear that it's still possible to play a version of it.
I enjoyed original SvM, but I think Double Agent's mobility for the spies made it peak for me. Chaos Theory vibe/maps with Double Agent movement would be the dream.
a Ledge on one of the maps had a large pipe or something that while the model was there it didn't have a hit box so you would clip into it showed only have half the body was visible but beauty was it hid the glow of the head piece :D
Asymmetrical multiplayer games need to make a come back. They were great, creative and fun. I don't see anyone ever really complaining or saying it was a frustrating experience, so I think they just died off due to other styles of games becoming more popular. Regardless I enjoyed the handful that were still on life support in the 360 days. Also I wish I had friends who weren't of the opinion none hyper competitive games are dumb and a waste of time. Makes me sad I don't have anyone to play this with.
she splinter on my cell till I chaos theory Brainrot aside, I have much nostalgia for co op Splinter Cell from when I was a kid, watching the "The Co-op", though I can't recall Chaos Theory specifically (I don't recall game titled at all 😅)
My friends and I play Chaos Theory SvM occasionally during our LAN parties. It was nice being able to play the Blacklist one online before Ubi nuked the servers. RIP Splinter Cell. P.S. you should try the game "Of Guards and Thieves", it's a top down version of SvM
I need a modern Dead by daylight style re release of this mode with regular updates and cosmetics (guest characters like Solid Snake would be tight). It has HUGE potential, it just needs to be much more accessible to get people playing it again.
Actually it’s not as difficult as you think. The reason I didn’t share how to download is because I’m not sure how..legal.. it is. For me, it’s as simple as downloading a zip file, extracting it, then running the exe. If someone makes a tutorial in the future, I’ll pin it in my comments. Thanks for watching the video.
theres also this little indie game thats just like this called intruder its on steam but the thing is it dosent really have a big community would be cool if you like reviewed it or something idk (this game needs attention and im getting desperate)
The only way I could play the spy vs merc for chaos theory was on the DS. Other than that I would play 360 double agent. But prefer this version of spy vs Merc
theres this neat little game called intruders i suggest you check it out :3 no idea if its in development hell or if its just slow going but its pretty much this :D

That’s playable in 2024 as well 😉

Most games nowadays wouldnt even bother being creative like that. Cod used to be, now you can crouch slide as Nicki Minaj.
Special Agent Bob and Secret Agent Steve, two of the finest official unofficial splinter cells

Duuuude AC multiplayer was so awesome, I never understood why they stopped making them. I personally loved Brotherhoods the most.
Best asymmetrical multiplayer ever made
Epic video! This is basically the best advert for the game anyone could hope for 😄.
Great video sir! Thanks for making it!
Well done on the video. This game is definitely underrated yet enjoyable to play, especially with friends
Spies Vs Mercs fans fed for today
Funny how I instantly knew the exact game from the thumbnail and title alone
Had a lot of fun with this game back in the day. Really nice you decided to show this, I'll definitely give it a try.
Glad to be of service!
I play a good amount of Intruder and I'm noticing a lot of similarities- gadgets, computer hacking objectives.. this looks really cool!
This game is the OG version of Intruder.
Playing this as a kid was honestly one of the funnest times I had when I was younger
A Splinter Cell video in 2024 is craaazy. Love this game.

The YT algorythm recommending me a Kelski-like video?! And the thumbnail was created by Kelski?!

Spies VS Mercs is one of most unique multiplayer modes, unlike the modern multiplayer industry, unfortunate it doesn't have much players nowadays.
