Storyline
Happy Gilmore is a 1996 American sports comedy film directed by Dennis Dugan and produced by Robert Simonds. It stars Adam Sandler as the title character, an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers a newfound talent for golf. The screenplay was written by Sandler and his writing partner Tim Herlihy, in their second feature collaboration after the previous year's Billy Madison. The film also marks the first of multiple collaborations between Sandler and Dugan. Happy Gilmore was released in theaters on February 16, 1996, by Universal Pictures. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the film was a commercial success, earning $39 million on a $12 million budget, and it won an MTV Movie Award for Best Fight for Sandler and Bob Barker.

Bob Barker's appearance was VERY welcomed by fans. He's an American institution, having been on TV since the 50s. Loved by all. It was hilarious to see him in this. ❤
Fun fact: the actor Carl Weathers who plays chubs was indeed a professional football player before he was an actor.

Fun fact- when I first moved to Dallas many years ago, everybody asked me "you kin ta Verne?"
The fight scene with Bob Barker has become a classic. The movie's producers weren't sure that they could get Bob for this part, but they tried and he very surprisingly said yes. As it turns out, Bob Barker has been a keen martial artist for most of his life (Chuck Norris was his karate instructor for a while), so most of that fight really WAS Bob. The only time his stunt doubles had serious work was when they rolled down the hill.
Yeah Bob was adamant that they let him do the fight.

A swing and a miss in golf counts as a stroke if you are attempting to hit the ball. Obvious practice swings do not. (simplest answer. It can be more complicated say if your club touches the ground in some situations, etc.).
