Wow Gary, your videos are such a tonic. I could watch these for hours. Fish and chips are close to average price, so no problem. I adore fish and chips.
Top review, as always, thanks. Fail to understand why more seaside resorts don't fly hawk kites on the end of poles above food establishments. Keeps the old gulls at bay!
We were in Brighton a couple of years ago for a short break. Whilst on the beach we saw some overseas students sat on the beach trying to eat fish and chips, they had to abandon the idea eventually after being dive bombed by seagulls. People tried to warn then not to eat there because of the seagulls, however they soon realised their mistake, happy days, great video mate.

Ahoy there Gary ! I agree with you on the cod & chips. Both looked very good. Crispy batter, big flakes of white fish & very nice looking chips (not too anaemic). When we were in the UK in July/August this year we had fish & chips at least 5 times but we had haddock (wife's choice). The best fish & chips we had was in a small fishing village in Scotland called Plockton (The Harbour Fish Bar) 10/10 easy ! Is cod your preferred fish? Agreed that the pricing was a tad high but on the seafront itself that does tend to happen. Great video again Gary - hope you & your camera man weren't too cold !
Hello there Robert! How are you? I like cod but I also really like haddock as well - I'm quite big on fish. I love seabass, what about you? I was fine and I think cameraman is still there trying to fight of those seagulls!
@@GaryEats I like haddock and cod but never tried seabass. My wife Jane prefers haddock as she says it has a more defined taste. We are both well here in Adelaide as I hope you are well over there. Seagulls - part of fish 'n' chips at the seaside. Poor camerman.

That fish looked really nice and a fair size as well with a good amount of chips, not being a fan of mushy peas I'd never know if they're good or bad. I hope the camera guy didn't get pecked to death by those gulls🤣cheers mate great video ✌️🍻
Finally got myself out of the capital's clutches! Although, I've seen the forecast for tomorrow in York... not good. He was having a lovely time having to deal with both seagulls and pigeons. Thanks for watching mate.
I must say that did look excellent even just the appearance made me think it was going to be really fresh and tasty. A good portion of fish too, nice and thick and you could tell just by looking the batter was going to be right on point.
Another good review, Gary. Shame that you didn’t get to use a knife though! If a finger bowl had been on the table, I’d have understood! Plus, I agree a wedge of lemon would have been a nice touch. Must get Hubby Joe to take me to Brighton soon as I’ve not been for years. Best wishes. Fiona
Yep, I'd give it a go without doubt. 8.5 was a very fair score for what looked like some good quality stuff. Note to myself - always carry a lemon around in pocket to skwidge on the fish !!

Brighton Pier! Now, who is famous from there? Shirley Bassey? No. Looked absolutely scrumptious though. But the price?? 😮 A bit steep, considerjng you had to buy cuppa, tatare and mushy peas extra. . Paying for beachfront, fair dues. Tbh, Id have paid up too, that fish looked amazing. Thanks Gary and Cameraman.. hope he was able to nosh, and enjoyed your trip. Have fun, keep warm! ❤❤❤🎉🎉
I think the cameraman was too flustered by the pigeons and seagulls to eat anything today Mona! Agreed with your assessment. I do like Brighton. Hope you're doing very well!
Shirley is from TigerBay, Cardiff, SouthWales: look you! I missed her by five minutes once, her Route66 type red Chevrolet Corvette had a problem. She left it at the garage to get it fixed. She got a taxi to take her into London Town. I would have offered her a lift: damn it! This was during the late 50s. Nice car though, when working.
Looked very nice but agree 8 1/2 was a fair score. I would not have been able to eat that without the help of a knife! We don't have mushy peas in Tasmania or curry sauce on chips either. We do have plenty of seagulls and flying rats however!
Thank you for another good review and probably the best views of the pier I have seen! You don't get fish and chips often? Hop aboard the train to Doncaster and go to Whitby's Fish and Chip Restaurant. It is located in the former fire station opposite the Main Racecourse Grandstand. You will get a very comfortable table, large plates and proper cutlery and good service. Start with their large prawn cocktail followed by cod/haddock (from their Norwegion trawler), chips and mushy peas washed down by John Smiths bitter. I declare no involvement in their company; I just enjoy their food.
Thank you for your kind comments. I hope you travel down to Doncaster and enjoy the fish and chips. I look forward to watching your review; it will be worth watching! @@GaryEats
Whenever I visit Brighton I always go to the Regency opposite the West Pier which is quite excellent and they lend you a proper metal knife and fork and plate at no extra charge.
You're cameraman was made saying about sitting out there in weather like that! I would of eat inside, I haven't been to this place in a few years and last time I wnt to Brighton went other places to eat but def this year! On their lunchtime menu one of my fav things there is the: Aubergine rolls (4 pieces) stuffed with ricotta, tomatoes, scallions & nutmeg 😋
thanks gary cameraman i remember back in the day when you got four times more chips then that lol what is your home town gary looked a nice bit of scoff that i am A greedy bugger love a huge bit of co top marks again another blinding bog thasnks mate steve
I personally prefer haddock but wow that cod looked good.😋 No skin either. Great Batter - yummy too, with mushy peas. Nice amount of chips. Delicious. Cheers.😋
I live 20 minutes drive from Brighton. I tend to go to the Marina where parking is free. Where as in Brighton parking charges are outrageous anything up to £6 an hour.
Hi Gary, I love your videos. I was on the palace pier in Brighton probably sometime in the early 1990s. There was a great fish and chips shop right on the pier. I don’t know if it still exists but have you eaten there? I remember it being so good. It was winter, but it wasn’t really cold. I sat on the pier outside and and ate.
I have not my friend. I haven't been to Brighton since the 90s - that was my last time there! Sorry I couldn't be of more help and thank you for the kind words!
At last I found a review from my home town - I avoid the pier usually and already have my two go to Chippy's (one is called Chipwicks in Worthing - I highly recommend them to anyone from round my parts) but nice to see you in Brighton Gary - all the best Maf
That fish looked lovely Gary, although being up north, I prefer Haddock. As for the skin on/skin off debate, I lean more towards skin off. But like you, I don't mind if the skin is on either. Great review.
Hi Gary you get around you cannot beat fish and chips.Been to that one number one on Tripadvisor not sure if it still is.When I went sat outside they were ok nothing special.
Ah just down the road from me, unfortunately the weather wasn’t on your side was it, good fish and chips mind you, do like a nice piece of haddock, although £2 for mushy peas is really expensive for that size but that batter sounded amazing
Looked good fish and chips Gary ..a bit high priced but you have to take account of the location by the sea..as my grandmother used to say ‘ you are paying for the table cloth ‘ whenever there was above average decor or location 👍
The batter did look nice and thin and crispy, nothing worse than greasy stodgy batter. Peas with a touch of mint sauce would of been tastier. The only thing I would of liked for that price would of been proper cutlery and a proper plate. Nice to see awnings over the tables though, nothing worse than a gift from a seagull! If you ever come near Christchurch Quay, Dorset. I would like to see you try their Fish & Chips, supposed to be the biggest and best around, and for £17.95 so it should be! Another great video, shame the weather wasn't better for you and your compadre!
I can't afford the best places, and my Mrs is such a fussy eater, it wouldn't be worth it anyway, she would be continuously complaining, lol!@@GaryEats

@pippin1ful Cool experience! 💕💕 Thank you for the information, very appreciated.
A bit pricey I thought. Fish looked nice, and meaty with crispy batter. Chips good, peas good. Yes a wedge of lemon required. 9/10 from me.
A wedge of lemon is always forgotten about but a really important part of fish and chips for me. Thanks for watching!
Gary, that is some nice cod! Thank you. I would rate 9 for the fish and chips, however for the overall meal an 8...🎉🎉🎉🎉
Was very nice Brian!
Looked very nice but agree 8 1/2 was a fair score. I would not have been able to eat that without the help of a knife!
We don't have mushy peas in Tasmania or curry sauce on chips either. We do have plenty of seagulls and flying rats however!
Flying rats?! That’s a new one. Thanks Anne!
Looked great fish and chips that Gary think them seagulls was eyeing that fish up mate 😂
Tell me about it Howlie. Had to send cameraman out there to rough them up a bit haha!

I will do. Really appreciate your tips and recommendations as it always helps me!
Thank you for your kind comments. I hope you travel down to Doncaster and enjoy the fish and chips. I look forward to watching your review; it will be worth watching! @@GaryEats
Thanks mate. As I said, I will do my best to get up there and review it for you :)
Ditch the mushy peas next time Gary & go for curry sauce.....much more tastier 😋😋
Definitely going to try curry sauce next time! Thanks mate.
Sat there only a couple of weeks ago, my son lives in Brighton, so that's where we decided.
Great stuff Colin. Hope you enjoyed!
Whenever I visit Brighton I always go to the Regency opposite the West Pier which is quite excellent and they lend you a proper metal knife and fork and plate at no extra charge.
I won’t be in Brighton for a while Ronald but when I’m next in the area I will take a look, thank you for watching and commenting really appreciated 😊
GREAT REVIEW AGAIN THANKS
No problem 👍
Thanks Steve. I live in Kent!
nice one
I personally prefer haddock but wow that cod looked good.😋 No skin either. Great Batter - yummy too, with mushy peas. Nice amount of chips. Delicious. Cheers.😋
I also prefer haddock! Thanks Geoff 😊
Cool@@GaryEats
Great review as always. I think you were extremely lucky not to be dive-bombed by the locals, you escaped lightly.
Very true David. Was expecting it to be like the red arrows!
I live 20 minutes drive from Brighton. I tend to go to the Marina where parking is free. Where as in Brighton parking charges are outrageous anything up to £6 an hour.
I know I parked my car there
That looked superb
It was!
Portion looked very small for the price imo. Glad to hear they took the skin off though. Only wrong uns leave the skin on.
Haha the old skin on/skin off debate. I'm happy with either!
Awesome! #Road_trips 👌
Thanks Nigel. In York tomorrow! ✌️
Haha had to.laugh in Brighton and there is add for irn bru. Made from girders in Scotland
Hhaha. Well spotted.
Definitely on my list 😉, cheers 🥂 gazza
This was very good, not outstanding, but still very good Sidney and cheers 🥂
Hi Gary, I love your videos. I was on the palace pier in Brighton probably sometime in the early 1990s. There was a great fish and chips shop right on the pier. I don’t know if it still exists but have you eaten there? I remember it being so good. It was winter, but it wasn’t really cold. I sat on the pier outside and and ate.
I have not my friend. I haven't been to Brighton since the 90s - that was my last time there! Sorry I couldn't be of more help and thank you for the kind words!
That looks like a decent fish and chips
Very decent. Can see why they're highly rated!
Yes that looks really good. Fresh tartare sauce would’ve been a nice addition.
Oh yes!
Congrats on reaching the 100k mark Gary. Hope you get to celebrate the milestone! 🥳
That’s very kind to say thank you. I did have a couple of pints of Guinness last night.
Did look a lovely bit of fish, albeit a bit expensive 👍
Absolutely brilliant fish!
Fish looked delicious!
Enjoyed it!
At last I found a review from my home town - I avoid the pier usually and already have my two go to Chippy's (one is called Chipwicks in Worthing - I highly recommend them to anyone from round my parts) but nice to see you in Brighton Gary - all the best Maf
I'll be in Brighton again soon!
🌜🦋🦋 nice food and a great view, or u need now is a cold 🍺🦋🦋🌛
Cant beat sitting by the sea with a quality fish n chips
Much agreed. Would have preferred some sun but can't be too spoilt!
All looks nice, glad the gulls didn't get you 😄😄I give the looks of it and the place an 8.5
They pretty much got cameraman though, I left happily unscathed! Thanks for watching!
Nice one Gary.Should of taken a walk down to the nudist beach, not so many seagulls.
Haha thanks Steve. The pigeons were almost more of a problem!
Looked nice Gary in Dagenham fish and chips r like £13 so i dont find this too expensive esp the location great vlog as always
Thanks Jodie, good price then! 👍
That fish looked lovely Gary, although being up north, I prefer Haddock. As for the skin on/skin off debate, I lean more towards skin off. But like you, I don't mind if the skin is on either. Great review.
Nice one mate. I also prefer haddock!
Hi Gary you get around you cannot beat fish and chips.Been to that one number one on Tripadvisor not sure if it still is.When I went sat outside they were ok nothing special.
Going even further out today mate. Still #1 and I have to say I enjoyed it. Cheers!
You get around gary...
I’m even further out today mate!
Ah just down the road from me, unfortunately the weather wasn’t on your side was it, good fish and chips mind you, do like a nice piece of haddock, although £2 for mushy peas is really expensive for that size but that batter sounded amazing
Wasn't a sunny day at Brighton for a change, Chris!
Looked good fish and chips Gary ..a bit high priced but you have to take account of the location by the sea..as my grandmother used to say ‘ you are paying for the table cloth ‘ whenever there was above average decor or location 👍
Of course David!
I can definitely make my way down to Dorset soon. Let me know some of the best places and I'll be there!
I can't afford the best places, and my Mrs is such a fussy eater, it wouldn't be worth it anyway, she would be continuously complaining, lol!@@GaryEats
£2-50 for a tea bag! Total rip off! Seagulls extra! Best fish and chips in Brighton ? The others must be rubbish! Looking forward to you reviewing Nottingham Gary ! Brilliant reviews ! Rob Nottingham !
Thanks Rob!
🇦🇺 wow the place i want to visit next to London, this really good .
Fish and chips look honestly scrumptious. 10 👍😊🇦🇺
About an hour away from London… not too far! thanks.
