Hey, my pendulum just kinda putters out after a minute. The tick tock sounds just stop and it eventually just stops swinging completely. Do you have any videos about that? Thanks!
@joeypaige it sounds like it probably needs to be cleaned Sometimes just doing rubbing alcohol can help But usually it would need to be ultrasonically cleaned
Thank you, I was able to shim it on the one side enough to get it to run for an hour at a time now. I tried to push on the arm of the pendulum to balance it without the shimming, but I don’t know how hard to push and don’t want to break it. So I’m going to keep going with it until it needs to be wound again, so that the spring is more open for cleaning anyways. Thanks for your help and advice, enjoyed your videos. ❤ 🙏
@kingofroam1 usually that requires carefully taking apart the whole movement and then taking apart the housing that has the wind spring / some just have them exposed Unfortunately if it is disconnected that usually means it is broken in some way and usually requires buying a new part
@kadensreviews I don't believe it's broken as it worked but I let it unwind all the way and then I couldn't wind it anymore. I also cannot get the bar off that you wind up the clock with. Or the knob that sets the time. I have 2 of these and I bought the 2nd one just to learn how to work on it. Thanks
@kingofroam1 I had that once as well On mine I was able to take it apart and re latch the spring Sometimes if it hasn't been wound much in a long time it does weird things
It's funny I have a mantle clock in my bedroom that hasn't worked since the 90's My Mom got it for me for my birthday in 85 I think. I'm in the process of having a local guy to fix it. Not sure what is wrong with it. Can't turn the key to wind it up. Nice to see what can be done on yours.
Thank you, this was helpful.
@rowgler1 glad it helped a bit

I cant really say for sure how hard to press since each clock can be a different story
I have an Ignatz clock that the spring is disconnected. Can you please make a video on how to reconnect the spring? Thank you.
Which spring? The suspension spring or a wind spring or does it have a escapment ?
The wind spring
