@@BREWtallySpeakingPodcast haha that's awesome. Eidola deserves so much success, they are simply all talented musicians and hit on heavy subjects. Andrew's lyrics hold so much weight. Bought the album today and didn't disappoint. You gained a sub my man. Tell Andrew Jesus loves him.
@@MrWafflesPaniniDBZTCG I’m going to say he probably knows, his first thanks in the thank you section was to Jesus Christ for saving him. I just love how he incorporates other ideas into the music as well. As he said, his objective is to make people think, not persuade to his beliefs specifically. Cheers Mr Waffles 🍻
Hi Jon, I am a little embarrassed to say I've only JUST discovered your channel today but I am so glad that I have. I saw Andrew Wells name pop up and I instantly had to watch. WOW. What an informative, open, honest and genuine conversation. This was really, really awesome to watch and I'm looking forward to more content (I've just subscribed too!). PS. I know this was recorded several months ago but hearing Andrew talk about having lost so many people in the last year hit hard... Especially having lost Tim Feerick (bassist for Dance Gavin Dance) 1 month ago. I was watching a stream of DGD at Swanfest a couple of weeks back, which doubled as a memorial to Tim and it was difficult to watch Andrew and the rest of the band struggle through their set. It was seriously so brave of them to still put on a show, despite their immense grief. There has been a lot of chatter amongst DGD fans online that it would be completely understandable if the band decided to take a long break after releasing 'Jackpot Juicer'. I think the same understanding would extend to Andrew/Eidola too.
Andrew and i just met up and had a dinner and caught up and it was intense and therapeutic for some of the things we’ve both gone through, some of it you mentioned above, and while it’s not my place to say what happened….i will say you’ll probably hear more about it. That said, Andrew and I are planning another chat for the podcast. I think there will be a lot revealed and i hope people dig it. Andrew has become a close friend who i share some very personal moments with and I’m glad people have found this chat and really dug it.
@@BREWtallySpeakingPodcast Thanks for taking the time to reply to my comment (and so quickly too!). Totally understandable re: not being able to give out any information about what's happening next. I wouldn't expect it but appreciate you even sharing what you've just shared. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next chat with Andrew.
I had Tom Smith formerly of The Acacia Strain write me this as the intro for the podcast a few years back. So it's not really anything other than that.
I got to meet Andrew on the last Aussie DGD tour in Brisbane pre-covid. He was one of the most pure souls I have ever met. I sincerely mean it when I say I hope he feels and finds the joy in life. Amazing chap from an amazing band.
Same, one of my favorite people I’ve come to meet from doing the show, although we go back a bit before that, as you heard, when i had booked the band years ago and they broke down and the band decided to head back home.
@@herbwoodworks ah….. i was like this is a different name I’m seeing comment on this. Was just in your neck of the woods this past week. Went to that abomination of the season/home opener for the Falcons.
I’ve been listening to the album on repeat since it came out! They definitely nailed the accessibility aspect of it while still having a ton of layers to every track
So this was something more that was Andrew’s mindset the last time we did a chat, which hasn’t been released but we kinda touched on in that he had a suicide attempt before that chat….and his mindset on a lot of the industry side of things was pretty bleak. I think with some therapy and more time to work on himself and the music I think he’s come out to a different outlook. Time will tell, but it seems like Andrew has the fire again to keep creating beyond the Eidola album that drops tonight.
@@BREWtallySpeakingPodcast I was heartbroken when I first heard that part in the interview. But I think you’re right. This album might push him back into the fire!
Is there any way you could ask Andrew if, on Empty Gardens, if he's saying "Empty Gardens, Sow my name, Bury *ME* in tantric sunlight"? The lyrics say "Bury rote in tantric sunlight" but I sweeeear he's saying "me". Edit: OH and one more, on Perennial Philosophy, I swear he's saying "Just to see the space *IS* filled", but the lyrics say "spaces filled". I was wondering if that was an error as well or if it really is "spaces".
He said on Lead Singer Syndrome that he isn't a fan of religion as a whole, but he goes to a church. He also wore a cross on most of the new music videos. Does he go to a Unitarian church or what?
Honestly not sure on that one. When we did the other chat that wasn’t released but we brought up on here, i know he mentioned that after the suicide attempt and going to therapy he made it sound like he had a renewed sense of faith, but i don’t know if it’s to any specific denomination of religion. I think overall you can hear some of that anger and finding your way through sort of a crisis of faith and the world around you on the new album, i mean really across their whole catalog. Thanks for checking this out, and hope you enjoyed it.
Really enjoyed this podcast episode, but little piece of feedback - please avoid going too much into your own tangents. I kinda feel like you spoke more in total minutes than Andrew himself.
Who else is here because you LOVE “The Architect” and can’t get enough of Eidola and/or Andrew Wells?
I used “The Architect” and “to speak, to listen” as coping mechanism last year!
Andrew Swells!!
Dude look at his recent promo photos and tell me he’s not!!?? I texted him that nickname and he laughed lol
