So oddly satisfying to see a little truck come out and drive around cleaning the course before the cars come to race. It's just like in real life, in a way.
That's a genius idea! I always thought conventional track cleaners were a failed idea if the track was dirty, especially for those of us who only play with their slot cars on the floor once in a blue moon. Battery backup makes perfect sense, or just straight battery power.
I'll definitely need to do this when I finally dig out my Tyco track that has been sitting in a box for at least 10 years. Sure beats using the nickel trick, the pencil eraser method, and especially the system of running a car until it stops, then pushing it across the dead spots about 100 times.
Very ingenious. You could even glue wet and dry sandpaper to your pick ups and run the vehicle purely on the battery. Your idea sure would save a lot of set up time.
Kevin, I just found this vid and because of it I've just subbed. Awesome tip! I've got several complete in the box tracks including the one with this and the rest of the trucks. I don't yet have a place to set everything I have up but until and when I do I'll be referencing your channel sir. I'll be looking through your archive and watching what vids you have on this subject! Thanx,....Fred
I got a question that's totally off subject hope you don't mind but what kind of track is that and where can i buy one of these sets like carrera , afx or scalextric they are so hard to find!!! You can only find them online like ebay and amazon and they are just the basic sets not the high end ones as far as in stores and hobby shops they don't exist!!! Did they go out of business or what ???
Internal resistance on alkaline batteries is pretty high. I'm sure you're probably fine at 9V or maybe even 10V. You could even run the track a little lower than 9V and just let the battery find equilibrium. Either way, alkaline batteries are notorious for leaking and ruining stuff. Not sure if they make a 9V NiMH off hand, but that might be a better option.
THATS COOL I LIKE YOUR IDEA I USE THE SAME TYPE OF METHED HERE . ALSO YOU CAN USE 1000 GRIT SAND PAPER IN THE GRILL AREA ,,STICK IT BETWEEN THE GRILL AND PICKUP SHOE AREA AND MAKE IT ROUNDED OUT FRONT UNDER THE GRILL AND IT WILL PUSH THE SAND PAPER IN FRONT OF IT AND SAND THE TRACK NO PROBLEMS , I LIKE YOUR VIDEOS MAN . yeah 320 grit poked threw the rear guide pin would do it quick! front pickup shoes still make contact also!
GREAT idea, have been doing it the hard way for many years. THANKS . . .
Really cool demo, I'm going start building one tomorrow.
I got that same green dump truck.........going to build one now!
Built this setup. Great idea! Works fantastic! Thanks!
Glad you like it Bob.
I tried a lot of things but this is a great idea. Thank you👍
Nice job on the track build ... & great idea on the cleaner. Going to build one now 👍🏻
Very cool indeed!
Thank you for sharing!
I use a micro scalextric car to keep the track clean, they have steel brushes for contacts and scrub the track as the go 👍
Beautiful track man love it!!! Great job
Great idea👍🏾 that's ingenuity for you
You have an awesome track layout.
World's first hybrid slot car! Cool!

Amazing idea! Thanks for sharing. HO Slot Car Racing 2020
Great idea!! Gonna make one simular to yours. Thanks for posting!#
I like it. Maybe you could even use a 9V NiMH rechargeable and use the track to keep it topped off.
Great idea and nicely done. Subscribed.
I like your power supply I was wondering how to do connect that to the track or make it work in other words
Good Idea, good Information..cool Project..!!
Hey Kevin, nice, practical way to clean the track. How many laps does it take to get the track clean like yours?
Brickchamp it depends on how dirty and oxidized the track is to begin with. I would say 10 laps or less usually
Cool idea!! Too bad you can’t have the truck tow a nickel on a weight to clean it even more. Or maybe the weight will slow it down. Just a thought.
I have an older Artin slot car track that uses brushed cars. It's assembled and the rails are quite dirty/rusty. Can I clean them using this method?
Possibly. It would be worth a try.
Pretty slick
Are you able to write down, what you have done with the truck. I did not understand, what you are talking about. THX!
Great idea
Where are you located at?

Ben Pyka Try your local Hobby Lobby .... They sell CARRERA set 1/43rd and track extensions 👍🏻
there are so many local hometown hobby shops that sell on ebay with buy it now prices on huge sets!
Briliant.
Can I buy this somewhere?
I don’t think so. You will have to build one.
Battery go boom lol
