I mean, there’s an armchair psychiatrist out there that would say them being estranged is what led to his killing of old women. Why not old men? Just as easy a target. Older demographic so the men probably have more money, not to mention possible war medals or other trinkets. He probably had underlying psychosis and along w his drug addiction realizing he had no one left sent him over the edge so he lashed out at people who resembled the last family member he had. It WAS surreal seeing her walking up the steps, knowing she would be dead within minutes likely. I NEVER recall seeing footage this up close and personal of a victim and her predator, with the victim about to be killed. Haunting. I've seen some far away and grainy CCTV footage of a person being picked up or forced into a car from a distance and I couldn't make out much. But this was up close and personal. And disturbing.

I no longer have either of my grandma's but the idea that someone could have taken them both from me because of greed and addiction makes me incredibly sad. I know addiction is a mental disease and needs to be treated as such but some days are harder than others. The idea that 32 lives were stolen prematurely is just such a waste. Thank you for the great story though and I am glad that it was solved. The irony that it was his own mother that helped inadvertently catch him is just poetic justice. 🖤
I am a full fledged junkie, but rather than hurt or kill someone I would go through crippling withdrawals, just like the majority of people like me. Violence and cruelty are independent from vice and other defects.

The idea of attacking someone or even killing them to make myself feel better never crossed my mind although honestly self murking had crossed my mind as an escape.

I’m clean now by the grace of God but when I used I would put myself in danger before I’d ever even consider robbing someone or burgling a home or whatever. I ended up being the driver and “chauffeur” for the guy I called my “boss” (really just a low level drug dealer). We ran drugs between states for many many years. I was good at it, we were never pulled over even once, but the stress was insane. That plus years of heroin use will take its toll. But I never carried a gun or got in a fight or anything close to that.
Sad and angry. My late grandmother had heirloom jewelry stolen by a care worker. That bitch better hope we never meet… I can’t imagine how much angrier I’d be if she murdered her as well.
Watching that CCTV footage, I felt so much panic, anger, and sadness knowing what would happen just after that. Preying on those who can’t defend themselves is one of the most barbaric things someone can do.

Russia for a long time and possibly still do, believe that serial killers are purely decadent American Hollywood thing. This has actually led to several Russian serial killers to get pretty substantial body counts.

The cctv footage of the elderly woman cleaning off her boots and walking up those stairs gave me such a dark and foreboding feeling. I wanted to jump through the screen and help her. My great aunt lived in Kazan and I remember my family worrying for her safety. Haven't heard anything about the case since 2013, very glad to know he's been caught

yep, while officially they use the normal, gregorian callendar, in religion (christmas, easter, etc) the "old callendar" is used which has 13 days deviation from the gregorian.

@@butter7497 it depends on what you need from a country. The only thing I can say right away is that you won't be able to live there comfortably without speaking Russian, even in big cities :)
@@butter7497 You would have to know Russian on a decent level, and it is a hard language to learn, and also finding a job in Russia can be very difficult. If you are a skilled IT guy or something you will be fine, but most low-mid tier jobs are either taken or don't pay enough. Overall i'd say Russia is not the worst place to live in, however corruption levels can be pretty bad, and there is quite a lot of racism, homophobia etc. still running rampant.

It is about Krystian Bala who published well selling novel and ended ended getting caught because the events of the novel had a canning resemblance to the events of the murder that he committed. As a Russian, it was very interesting to see you cover a case from my home country (I'd actually never heard of this one before, probably because I grew up abroad, though we did have Russian TV channels growing up). There was a similar case here in Latvia back in early 2000s. His name is Kaspars Petrovs. He was convicted of the murder of thirteen elderly women, however he's suspected to have taken the lives of 38 female elderly victims. During his 2005 trial he stated that he had not "intended to kill his victims, but only to rob them." Petrovs strangled the women after following them home and forcibly entering their apartments or posing as state gass company employee. He was sentenced to life in prison. I myself was born in year 2001 so for the longest time I had no idea we even had a serial killers case here in Latvia. I've never seen anyone cover this case before, most likely due to the location of the crime/possible lack of information but I'd love to see someone cover it someday. Love your video's btw!

Bashkiria is actually a region, not a city, so you can not say something like "Downtown Bashkiria". By the map, the city seems to be Ufa (with the stress on a).
It just goes to show that even if you give up children you can't escape affecting their lives. Being abandoned by his mother most likely caused his resentment to older women (alongside convenience in robbery and his own psychopathy) and his mother's love (or at the very least curiosity or loneliness) caused him to get caught. She never stopped affecting his life, even when she wasn't part of it. It's fascinating and heartbreaking.

I’m clean now by the grace of God but when I used I would put myself in danger before I’d ever even consider robbing someone or burgling a home or whatever. I ended up being the driver and “chauffeur” for the guy I called my “boss” (really just a low level drug dealer). We ran drugs between states for many many years. I was good at it, we were never pulled over even once, but the stress was insane. That plus years of heroin use will take its toll. But I never carried a gun or got in a fight or anything close to that.
Sad and angry. My late grandmother had heirloom jewelry stolen by a care worker. That bitch better hope we never meet… I can’t imagine how much angrier I’d be if she murdered her as well.
Watching that CCTV footage, I felt so much panic, anger, and sadness knowing what would happen just after that. Preying on those who can’t defend themselves is one of the most barbaric things someone can do.

While it does not excuse their behavior, you make it clear that even though their behavior is monstrous, all people deserve a tiny bit of compassion. I also like how you end your episodes with "look after each other." TY
The cctv footage of the elderly woman cleaning off her boots and walking up those stairs gave me such a dark and foreboding feeling. I wanted to jump through the screen and help her. Anyone who looks at an elderly person like that and just sees "easy victim" is truly a maniac. F*** this guy. I hope he becomes the "easy target" for his fellow inmates.

yep, while officially they use the normal, gregorian callendar, in religion (christmas, easter, etc) the "old callendar" is used which has 13 days deviation from the gregorian.

@@butter7497 it depends on what you need from a country. The only thing I can say right away is that you won't be able to live there comfortably without speaking Russian, even in big cities :)
@@butter7497 You would have to know Russian on a decent level, and it is a hard language to learn, and also finding a job in Russia can be very difficult. If you are a skilled IT guy or something you will be fine, but most low-mid tier jobs are either taken or don't pay enough.
Overall i'd say Russia is not the worst place to live in, however corruption levels can be pretty bad, and there is quite a lot of racism, homophobia etc. still running rampant.

I have a recommendation for a case in Eastern Europe. This case takes place in Wrocław, Poland. It is about Krystian Bala who published well selling novel and ended ended getting caught because the events of the novel had a canning resemblance to the events of the murder that he committed. I strongly recommend you take a look at this one

My heart is broken for his grandmother. Had just been reunited with him, the police leaving her blissfully unaware of what was to come. A necessary evil, probably but damn.
She was his mom, I can't imagine the pain she had to endure, But that's also a consequence of his actions.
What gets me is that if he HAD been keeping in touch with his mom, he may never have been caught. It was only her desire to track him down that the police became involved.

Thanks for covering stuff that's pretty much unknown. I watch so much true crime it's hard to find videos on different cases.
There was a similar case here in Latvia back in early 2000s. His name is Kaspars Petrovs. He was convicted of the murder of thirteen elderly women, however he's suspected to have taken the lives of 38 female elderly victims. During his 2005 trial he stated that he had not "intended to kill his victims, but only to rob them." Petrovs strangled the women after following them home and forcibly entering their apartments or posing as state gass company employee. He was sentenced to life in prison.
I myself was born in year 2001 so for the longest time I had no idea we even had a serial killers case here in Latvia. I've never seen anyone cover this case before, most likely due to the location of the crime/possible lack of information but I'd love to see someone cover it someday.

It just goes to show that even if you give up children you can't escape affecting their lives.
Being abandoned by his mother most likely caused his resentment to older women (alongside convenience in robbery and his own psychopathy) and his mother's love (or at the very least curiosity or loneliness) caused him to get caught. She never stopped affecting his life, even when she wasn't part of it. It's fascinating and heartbreaking.
