    Ha, I've been living on my home lake for a bit since I just moved back to Michigan, and fishing standing up in a paddleboat. And catching good ones! Jig skipping docks, using navionics to deep crank and jerk offshore some. It's a mixture of stealth and obnoxious water churning. Some days everything goes perfect, but all it takes is one thing to go wrong and paddleboat bassin exponentially becomes a nightmare. I'm just grateful to be able to fish every day, I don't care what I'm floating on. Give me the big floating rainbow unicorn

    Randy......you have appitified the art of running the trolling motor. The speed, the angle, the light angle, ALL have an effect on how one can get the fish bite when one approaches structure. Great advice! THIS is why I'm a subscriber!

    As an amateur diver I can testify about the noise issue. What randy missed however is the noise produced by the heading motor, direction changes so to speak on ultrex. It is louder and somehow spook the fish more than just the prop. I noticed if you change your heading very gently with your foot it makes almost no noise at all but if you do fast changes it’s super loud and the fish spook big time.

    This topic is so important. I would say 90% of the guys I fish around have no idea about this. I am so surprised how guys run their trolling motors, the word stealth is not in their vocabulary. Like you said Randy if guys would practice this advice it will add up to more fish.

    The main thing that has really helped me control my boat while using the trolling motor is to trim my main motor down into the water. I fish a lot of reservoirs and see a lot of guys out there with their motor up. With the motor down, it keeps the back of the boat from waggling around. I can put my trolling motor on 9 and straight and steer my boat across the reservoir with the steering wheel using my main motor as a rudder.

    • @phillamoore157
      @phillamoore157 10 месяцев назад

      GREAT comment. Absolutely NO ONE talks about what to do with the main engine. I keep mine up because of all the hydrilla I'm fishing around...I don't want the vegetation wrapping around the prop. love Randy, and I believe most things can be taught off the water with bass fishing. But, you can't have a "monologue' or a discussion, and learn this. I had NO.....IDEA how difficult this was, and how much anticipation was involved. That's one part of bass fishing I completely took for granted when I got my boat.

    I got a 55lb thrust xi3 on my kayak with remote control. The spot lock is nice if you are making long casts but like you said that thing makes a lot of disturbance in the water turning off and on to hold you place. When my brother and I used to shore fish it seemed like boats running up down the bank would not catch near as many fish as us. I realize now that its because we were quiet. Thanks Randy. Good info as always.

    Finally one of these I 100% agree with! This is my biggest issue I have when I fish with other guys in their boats. Makes team tournament fishing tough if both guys aren't aware of this major concept. Great way to set yourself up for a boat positioning video. Into the wind!

    Thank you for clarifying some of my suspicions on the jumpy on and off quick burst of high power trolling motor operation. A neighbor of mine who I fish with alot has this bad habit of exactly what you explained spooks fish. He has it turned up high and bounces on and off the pedal constantly as we work up banks. Its hard to say anything to someone who has fished 50+ years tho. He is almost 80 years old and has so much experience it would be disrespectful to criticize his technique. You know?? But when I fish solo believe me, this video will help to encourage my stealthiness Lol 😂!!! Thanks for info dear Sir..! I definitely agree with your perspective btw.

    Man I love running my trollingmotor.. It's nothing new 80 pound thrust maxim maxim at least 10 years old.. And the cool thing is you gotta have the feel for it While operating at night... To turn The T.motor 180゚ and pushed the boat straight backwards.. And you have to worry about the wind and decent size waves... And your partner in the back giving him adequate fishing capabilities... And casting at the same time it's an art form.

    When I'm flipping down a stretch of bank I always move in the direction of the wind to let it push me and only use the TM on a low setting to make sure I don't get blown too close. You can also use this with moving baits by casting behind you, into the wind, so that your bait is still moving with the current. Helps to save battery too!

    I believe this is one of the factors that makes the difference between a professional angler and a weekend angler. Of course it is more than this but it is one of the more important pieces to the puzzle. Yet there are plenty of weekend anglers who can control a boat, I don't mean to say there isn't just one of the things in general that make the difference.

    You should do a on the water with the trolling motor preferably on a windy day or when current is stronger and positron your boat. Lot of guys have trouble especially in shallow water flipping/pitching keeping the boat stable while the current and waves from other boats or wind play into it. That's a big deal
