      It’s been in the game for years sealing the bunker. So much focus in videos is on god rocks that the cave has taken a back seat.
      Also you open the bunker using twig. The same trick can be used on the 2nd floor of the cave with walls that go into the cave ceiling.

    This cave means so much to me. When I started playing rust a few years ago I just build my 1x2 base next to many other bases. What I didnt know they all belonged to a group of 6 people who lived in the cave which lied in the middle. After about 15min on the server they told me to move away or I was going to get raided but they seemed quite nice and also liked the fact that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. So I build like a square away and would give them all my sulfur and they would trade me revs and customs with bullets for it. After a few days on the server I logged on and found out they got fully raided by a 20man russian zerg and they sealed the cave entrance with like 6-8 hqm walls. So there was no chance of getting in and out. All they was left was a box of jackhammers. I had school holidays and they asked me if I had a helping hand to jackhammer all the walls down. I did it and so I gained their trust to join the team. We kept on playing and I spent my next 3000+ rust hours with them. Even met a few of them in reallife and weve made many other friends from rust since then. Nowadays we all stopped playing rust since we are working/studying at university but still talk quite a lot with each other. (Shoutouts to Artfuls Russian Zerg otherwise would have never met them and although we would stay rivals for many many wipes we even became friends on steam although we continued to give each other a hard time in rust)

    I’ve never actually played Rust,and I probably never will. I don’t even fully understand all of its mechanics. Still, I’ve watched most of your videos because they’re genuinely entertaining. Seeing someone with your level of skill, passion, and storytelling ability play the game makes it fun to watch, even for someone who doesn’t play it themselves.

    • @RenatoGalvones
      @RenatoGalvones 5 days ago +5

      Same here. I don't even want to install or try. It's just his incredible storytelling that keeps me coming back over and over again. Also his creativity and positiveness. Willjum is incredible!

    • @BCzepa
      @BCzepa 5 days ago +5

      The storytelling is what makes WJ's videos so nice to watch. I too have never played rust and don't intend to, but I enjoy watching some of the creative rust vids. I used to play reign of kings (kind of similar but no guns, medieval weapons only) and I loved to make cool trap bases and triple walled pyramids and the fishing in that game was very fun so I often made trading outposts and themed bases. A few wipes I had a friend I've known for decades since primary school. We would get the trebuchet out on the roof of our castles it was a lot of fun but I liked to know who I was raiding and id make it fun. Id place signs as close to their front door as I could build it and paint "eviction notice" well on advance and have some friendly banter or at other times not so friendly rivalries with competing 2-5 man groups

    Fun copy and paste wiki fact about Polar Bears (For no particular reasons) :
    Polar bears are marine mammals that can swim for days, using their large front paws as paddles and hind legs as rudders, even covering hundreds of miles continuously, with some recorded swims over 200 miles long, often prompted by melting sea ice

You got a great voice Willjum, and a great skill of telling the story of the game.

    Little tip and trick that me and some mates found out while doing this a while back;
    You can also do the same thing with piping! The trick is to place industrial combiners with the "in" and "out" connections just inside the ground, with this, it is a workaround from the ground breaking the connection. (it is a little fiddly)
    Me and my mates used this method so we could use our surface base as a depot to quickly and automatically send supplies up and down from the cave :)

    • @TheThorbjourn

    I’ve never played Rust in my life, and I honestly don’t even remember how I discovered your channel. Yet your videos have become some of my absolute favorites on RUclips.
    What really stands out to me is the way you switch between the calm, storytelling narrative voice and your real, in-the-moment voice while playing. Both feel completely natural, and together they create something incredibly immersive. It’s not just gameplay - it genuinely feels like watching a well-crafted story unfold.
    Even without knowing the game at all, I’m fully drawn in every single time. To be honest, your videos feel more engaging than many movies. The pacing, the atmosphere, the narration.. it’s all so well done. Truly amazing work.

    Always lovely to see this concept get tackled in new ways with the new BP fragment update especially with WillyJ

  • @chir0pter

    Problem: Workbench progression has become too easy again for groups. Idea: Groups value the certainty of outcomes that comes with larger group size. Easier to control monuments to farm keycards and fragments. If things like farming crates or metaldetecting are made critical, well the likelihood of success scales predictably with group size. So to nerf this effect, devs should focus on increasing RNG variability, and/or decreasing hit rate, the more players are around a given monument; or the more same-team players are around a monument; or just the more players are on a team, but only for players on that team. Anything that can reduce the scaling of success certainty with group size. Groups may then just leave team during progression, but this has downsides for them, such as friendly fire or increased likelihood of getting pseudo-insided. And anything that makes groups fission into smaller teams during progression farming would even the playing field with solos/duos.

      They could even increase the likelihood of a drop based on three things: 1) number of players around you at the time of BP generation (like when you loot or metal detect), 2) time since server start (or last BP obtained), and 3) how long you HAVEN'T been in a group. That way if anyone joins a group at any point prior to that first BP, then even when they leave the group there is a period of time where they are still "nerfed". It needn't be a huge nerf, either, just enough of an advantage that solo players can still "catch up" and grouping is still desirable over the disadvantage for being in a group. It could be like just a mere 50% increased drop rate at max benefits and most clans would probably still prefer to group for the benefits while solos have a little bit of a catch up mechanic.

    I have so much appreciation for the amount of skill rust youtubers have, gaming skills are one thing but being able to edit down hours and hours of gameplay into a full on movie and being able to show so much progress is mesmerizing. I especially love watching the cuts when you mine a node and show the first hit and cut to the breaking hit, a simple but really effective way of shortening a clip while not sacrificing any content.
