The answer is technically disposal, but if you are looking to create a sustainable business model and utilize that in your marketing (which in turn increases value for internal and external stakeholders) then you absolutely need to be concerned about disposal. It is a more holistic view of supply chain, but according to most current models the SCOR model is what we look at.

This sounds like a great resource for anyone interested in learning about supply chain management. The use of Apple's case study to illustrate supply delays and production cuts in the iPhone 13 pro adds a real-world perspective to the topic. It's great that the video covers various aspects of supply chain management, including strategy, operations, and job responsibilities. Overall, it seems like an informative and comprehensive resource for anyone looking to expand their knowledge of supply chain management.

I haven’t ran into any company that actually has fully integrated EDI systems. Someone is still always having to get on computer or phone and order something. Supply chain is so popular now bc of the crap with COVID and shutdowns but don’t stress about it. If you’ve ran and inventory control or warehouse management systems, or purchasing departments, etc then you already know how the supply chain management works.

planning operational strategy is a crucial part of the supply chain. Operational strategy involves determining how the various components of the supply chain will work together to achieve organizational goals. It encompasses the decisions and actions taken to design, plan, and manage the operations of the supply chain network.
Operational strategy in the supply chain includes several key aspects:
Demand forecasting: Organizations need to forecast customer demand accurately to ensure the right amount of inventory is available at the right time. Demand forecasting helps in planning production, procurement, and distribution activities.
Inventory management: Effective inventory management is essential for balancing supply and demand. It involves determining optimal inventory levels, reorder points, safety stock, and managing inventory turnover. Proper inventory planning helps minimize stockouts and excess inventory, improving customer service and reducing costs.
Production planning and scheduling: This involves determining the production capacity needed to meet customer demand and developing a production plan. It includes activities such as resource allocation, scheduling production runs, sequencing tasks, and managing production flow.
Supplier management: Strategic decisions related to supplier selection, negotiation, and relationship management are critical for ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain. This includes assessing supplier capabilities, establishing partnerships, managing contracts, and monitoring supplier performance.
Logistics and distribution: Planning the movement of goods from suppliers to customers is another aspect of operational strategy. It involves decisions regarding transportation modes, warehouse location, distribution network design, and optimizing delivery routes.
Technology and systems: Operational strategy also includes the adoption and implementation of appropriate technology and systems to support efficient supply chain operations. This may involve utilizing software for demand planning, inventory management, production scheduling, and data analytics.
sourcing is a critical component of the supply chain. It involves the process of identifying, evaluating, selecting, and establishing relationships with suppliers who can provide the necessary goods, materials, or services to support the organization's operations.
Sourcing activities within the supply chain include:
Supplier identification: This involves researching and identifying potential suppliers that can meet the organization's requirements in terms of quality, price, capacity, lead times, and other criteria.
Supplier evaluation and selection: Once potential suppliers are identified, an evaluation process is conducted to assess their capabilities, reliability, financial stability, quality standards, and other factors. The organization then selects the most suitable suppliers to engage in business relationships.
Negotiation and contracting: Sourcing includes negotiating terms and conditions with selected suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality expectations, and other contractual terms. Contracts are established to formalize the relationship and outline the rights and obligations of both parties.
Supplier relationship management: After establishing relationships with suppliers, ongoing management and collaboration are essential. This involves monitoring supplier performance, maintaining communication channels, resolving issues or disputes, and fostering collaboration to achieve mutual goals.
Sourcing decisions have a significant impact on the overall supply chain performance. Effective sourcing practices can contribute to improved product quality, reduced costs, increased supply chain responsiveness, and enhanced customer satisfaction. Conversely, poor sourcing decisions can lead to supply disruptions, quality issues, increased costs, and negative impacts on customer service.
It's important to note that sourcing extends beyond just selecting suppliers. It also involves strategic considerations such as make-or-buy decisions (deciding whether to produce internally or outsource), identifying alternate sources of supply for risk management, and exploring opportunities for supplier collaboration and innovation.
Overall, sourcing plays a vital role in the supply chain by ensuring the availability of the right materials, goods, or services from reliable and capable suppliers, thereby supporting the smooth flow of products and services to customers.
the process of making products is an integral part of the supply chain. The supply chain encompasses all the activities and processes involved in creating and delivering products or services to customers.
The manufacturing or production phase of the supply chain involves transforming raw materials, components, or inputs into finished goods. It typically includes activities such as sourcing raw materials, managing inventory, production planning and scheduling, manufacturing operations, quality control, and packaging.
Manufacturing processes can vary significantly depending on the industry, product type, and company's specific operations. They may involve various techniques, such as assembly lines, batch production, continuous flow processes, or customized production methods.
The efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing phase are crucial for the overall performance of the supply chain. It impacts factors like product quality, production costs, lead times, and customer satisfaction. Organizations strive to optimize their manufacturing processes to ensure timely production, minimize waste, control costs, and maintain product consistency.
By integrating the manufacturing phase into the broader supply chain, organizations can achieve better coordination and synchronization across different stages. This integration enables companies to manage the flow of materials, information, and resources more effectively, resulting in improved operational efficiency and customer responsiveness.
Overall, making products is a fundamental component of the supply chain, and its seamless integration with other stages contributes to the success of the entire supply chain network.
disposal can be considered as a part of the supply chain, particularly in terms of reverse logistics. Reverse logistics involves the flow of products or materials from the consumer back to the manufacturer or point of origin. Disposal, in this context, refers to the proper handling and management of products or materials at the end of their lifecycle.
In a typical supply chain, products go through various stages such as procurement, manufacturing, distribution, and finally, consumption. After consumption, products may become waste or reach the end of their useful life. Disposal encompasses the processes and activities involved in managing this waste or end-of-life stage.
Disposal practices can vary depending on the nature of the product or material. It may involve recycling, reusing, refurbishing, remanufacturing, or properly disposing of waste according to environmental regulations. Efficient disposal practices are essential for minimizing the negative environmental impact of products and materials and for complying with legal requirements.
Including disposal in the supply chain allows organizations to optimize resource utilization, reduce waste generation, and potentially recover value from discarded products or materials. It is becoming increasingly important as sustainability and environmental considerations gain prominence in business operations.

There are lot imprtance given to supply chain sustainability by most of the companies now a days. Even the loyal customers of a brand or a company consider sustainability in the brand's or company's end to end Supply chain as a major critirea before choosing their product.

The supply chain system didn't address "Disposal"
It probably should as the need to better manage resources can be greatly impacted by recycling precious metals in electronic devices and maybe reduce the demand on mining.
