For those of you who are disappointed with my reaction, I am sorry you felt that way. Sometimes it's just nice to enjoy MV's and music with friends and have fun. This reaction came during one of our special events called 'Requestfest' where we try to give more people a chance to make requests and move things along; it's generally less about me doing a full breakdown and more about everyone enjoying the music and having fun.
As a director, I really was hoping you would focus more on the song or the storyline in the MV, rather than just obsessing over Kai and Suho's abs the whole time. (But I guess you just demonstrated why this song is called "Obsession," it's supposed to make you obsessed with them and trap you in X-EXO's web, etc. LOL) However, EXO's "Obsession" MV deserves a closer more focused look at the song and video. If you pay attention to the message in the song and the MV, there's a reason why the members are dressed the way they are. It's to distinguish the two sides of themselves and to make it clear that their X-EXO clones are not like the EXO members they are created from, etc. Although Kai has made crop tops famous and was one of the first male idols to wear them, he actually doesn't LOVE to be shirtless or show off his abs as much as people might think. Kai is often shirtless because he is known for his abs and it's become part of his brand. These days it's almost expected of him that he will show off his abs. It has even sort of became part of EXO's storyline. He has literally been on a strict diet and workout regimen for most of his career in order to maintain his abs. If you check out an episode of "I live Alone" where Kai was on the show, he shows off his super chic condo and talks a little about his diet. However, in an episode of Knowing Bros. he talked about how on stage he doesn't mind being shirtless because it is part of the character he embodies, but the minute he steps off stage he becomes extremely self-conscious. During "Tempo" and "Obsession" era when he was wearing crop tops all over the place to perform during music shows and events, etc. he said it caused him to have really bad posture, because the minute he stepped off stage he would slouch to try and cover his stomach. Even though he knows he looks good, Kim JongIn is really shy, so I think if it hadn't become such a big part of who he is as an idol and model, he probably wouldn't be shirtless very often.
I actually expected more commentary on the video, the song which has deeper meaning, and the VOCALS just like what other entertainment / media professionals do whenever they react to EXO's vids but oh well, this will do. Thanks for the reaction tho.
idk if you’re new but this is what he normally does. he even caught himself once during a reaction and mentioned that though he has “director reacts” he usually has no commentary aside from just reacting to it.💀
@accioyoongi is absolutely right. Sometimes videos spark an intense rabbit hole, and we get lost for a LONG time rummaging through lyrics, cross-references, all kinds of stuff. And sometimes I pull up the videos that people want to share with the rest of the community and we just enjoy the music. It's times like this that I consider removing the 'Director Reacts' but even then it all becomes subjective; some people care, some people don't. Some people want long, drawn-out reactions to include lore, member names and history, lyrics, etc. and some people absolutely despise that and just want to hear the person say, "this is great!". It's a very tricky balance. I am sorry that some EXO-Ls were disappointed in this reaction, but I will say one thing-- maybe I won't always give a desired in-depth breakdown and analysis of the product, but whatever I say/do will be genuine. THAT you can always count on.
What you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, Chen uses his ability to control electricity (because he has the power of thunder and lightning) to manipulate something to do with the TVs that are playing behind him and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. At the very end we see the planet on fire because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO, you need to be aware that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and it's how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM Entertainment does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So, to really understand their full origin story, if you haven't yet, you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group -- short answer to focus on their solo work back in China -- but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin, they just now promote as EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. Therefore, each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have created a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop, and it has made us question everything we previously have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it's talking about obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. If you delve in deeper, it's actually talking about society in general and people's greed for material goods, money, fame, etc. All the things that people can become obsessed with that aren't what they truly need. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love, compassion and respect, etc. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession," some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO, and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovered that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. And we now think it is linked to EXO's new "Let Me In" MV, where we see a meteor on a collision course for Earth and EXO are trying to figure out how to prevent it from destroying the world. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those all-black outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs, which seems to be SM Entertainment's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. Therefore, it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, Baekhyun and Kai have gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT, Ten from WayV and Lucas who is a former member of WayV (now a solo artist) -- to help them battle the Red Force, and maybe, eventually, take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 🌊Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light. 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt), which gives him super strength/force. ☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening, as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.) 🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind. EXO-M ❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost). 🦄Lay (Zhang Yixing) is the Chinese member of the group, he is a main dancer, lead vocalist and rapper -- his power is the ability to heal anything. 🌩Chen (Kim JongDae) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control thunder/lightning/electricity. (As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group.) The Chinese members who are no longer part of the group, but are still an important part of EXO's storyline: 🐉Kris was the leader of EXO-M and he was a main rapper and vocalist -- his power was the ability to fly and his spirit animal was a dragon (Kris left the group in April 2014.) 💭Luhan was a main vocalist and his power was telekinesis -- the ability to control things with his mind. (Luhan left the group in October 2014.) ⏲Tao (Z.Tao) was a lead rapper and vocalist and the martial artist of the group, so he did the flips and stunts in the group's routines. His power was the ability to control time. (Tao ended activities with EXO in August 2015.)
The MV is about x-exo which are bad clones of exo and they fight each other and the lyrics talk about ur bad inner counterpart taking over you. I hope you can understand what I mean, english is not my first language so I’m not sure how to express it haha
Kinda disappointed that the only thing you had to say about the song was that you didn't like the sample. Nothing about the vocals, didn't even turn the lyric subtitles on, no real comments on the video even though you're a director Edit to say this isn't a hate comment! I've loved a lot of your reactions ❤
No hate received. :) I am always open to respectful criticism and I absolutely hear you. Please note my pinned comment at the top of the comments section. 💜
Obsession sempre será icônica, Mesmo com membros no exército exo conseguiu lançar uma música de qualidade e com conceito diferente do que todos estavam fazendo naquele ano
Usually I’m a fan of your reactions and was looking forward to your exo reaction, but this kinda felt lika a waste of time.. guess it was nice to see the mv again?
This says that he only reacts for the views not for liking Exo 😬😬😬 don't belive every reactor they all lies just for Views and nothing else. If this song was sang by the other group(we all know who) he should have said more( we all know why) this song is one of the best songs in Kpop and Mv ever. It has a story and the song! AMAZING! ❤❤❤❤❤
honey, it’s a livestream, where all the viewers and him just enjoy the music. i swear-you and the rest of the comments are lowkey embarrassing the rest of us *normal* ones in the fandom 😭💀
I'm so disappointed by your reaction. You usually point and discuss about the parts of a song I loved or didn't notice but the comments section did all the reacting for you. Lack of professionalism, guess fame gets the worst of you sometimes. I'll keep watching your reactions because you truly are funny and appreciate EXO's music but I'm really disappointed.
This song was "dedicated" to sasaengs (obsessed fans) so the "I want you" in the back is there to make you anxious and annoy you and make you feel how they feel everyday because of sasaengs.
as much as I abhor sasaengs, THIS IS NOT ABOUT THEM. It's about fighting your inner demon and also very much connected to their lore. EXO was cloned by Red Force in Lucky One and this is the result---- the X-EXOs.
On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it's talking about obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love, compassion and respect, etc.
it’s because it’s from a livestream where he takes requests and everyone sits back and *enjoys* the music. if you’re upset, then that’s you, there’s more important things to be worried about.
Fellow EXOL, please stop giving attention to this kind of people who honestly have zero interest and respect for our boys and their music. There are way better reactors out there that actually care about the artists they react to.
Roscoe since you did a deep dive on 5HINee you should do one on EXO because both groups are super close. So close that Jonghyun actually helped co-write and produce a few of EXO's earlier songs.
Dude EXO Mama, Growl, Overdose(you said it was already on your list), Tempo, and drop that (it doesn't have a music video but it's a fun performance) we'll be waiting for your reaction 🥺🫡
Agradezco su reacción, aunque "Obsession" es una maravillosa canción con mucho para evaluar, de todas maneras muchas gracias, puede reaccionar a "Miracles in December" by EXO? Thanks a lot 💖
Can you please react to Lotto and Monster from EXO?!!! It's really cool and I bet you would love it☺🤩🤩!!! It would be great if you say something about their vocals and performances for those two too❤❤💙💙!!! Thank you for everything ☺☺!!
Para nada es tu imaginación, el talento inigualable de EXO provoca este tipo de reacciones en algunas personas, en fin EXO son y serán siempre los únicos Kings 👑💖
There're so many cool transitions and graphic effects in this MV but as a "director" you didn't even pay attention to that. If you weren't interested or didn't plan to film a good reaction with review, don't even upload it please. It's just a waste of time.
For those of you who are disappointed with my reaction, I am sorry you felt that way. Sometimes it's just nice to enjoy MV's and music with friends and have fun. For a director you were more interested in abs than the music or meaning behind the music. EXO are Vocal King with a story line per video.
Best kpop song in 2019 according to billboard
what nostalgia, this video got me into k-pop
As a director, I really was hoping you would focus more on the song or the storyline in the MV, rather than just obsessing over Kai and Suho's abs the whole time. (But I guess you just demonstrated why this song is called "Obsession," it's supposed to make you obsessed with them and trap you in X-EXO's web, etc. LOL) However, EXO's "Obsession" MV deserves a closer more focused look at the song and video. 🌏D.O. (Do KyungSoo) is a main vocalist and his power is the ability to control earth (dirt), which gives him super strength/force.
☄Kai (Kim JongIn) is a main dancer, lead vocalist and sub-rapper and his power is teleportation (Kai means opening, as in a door or gateway, so his stage name is meant to symbolize his role in the group.)
🌪Sehun is the youngest member of the group and he is a lead rapper, lead dancer and a vocalist -- his power is the ability to control wind.
EXO-M
❄Xiumin (Kim MinSeok) is the oldest member of the group and he is a lead vocalist and lead rapper and his power is the ability to control snow/ice (frost).
(As you can see, Xiumin and Chen were given stage names that sounded more Chinese so they would fit in better in EXO-M because they are the Korean members of the Chinese group.)

Please check Chanyeol's solo debut "Black out" Chanyeol is the main rapper of EXO, the one with pink hair that do the cool rap in the second verse.

guess it was nice to see the mv again?
I love EXO
This says that he only reacts for the views not for liking Exo 😬😬😬 don't belive every reactor they all lies just for Views and nothing else. If this song was sang by the other group(we all know who) he should have said more( we all know why) this song is one of the best songs in Kpop and Mv ever. It has a story and the song! AMAZING! ❤❤❤❤❤
honey, it’s a livestream, where all the viewers and him just enjoy the music. i swear-you and the rest of the comments are lowkey embarrassing the rest of us *normal* ones in the fandom 😭💀
Hey Coco, if you manage to catch a livestream, please speak up and let me know you're there.
EXO Kings 👑💖🔥 only That!!
Nah this is lore focused lmao
On the surface level one interpretation of the lyrics could be that it's talking about obsessed fans. But EXO songs never have only one meaning. If you delve in deeper, it's actually talking about society in general and people's greed for material goods, money, fame, etc. All the things that people can become obsessed with that aren't what they truly need. With EXO's storyline it is thought that the Red Force is controlling humanity by preying on our gluttonous greed for all things material, and making us forget about showing each other love, compassion and respect, etc.
This is about their alter ego !
@@rkdo9554you right
YES WE ARE READY LETS GOOOO
Omg can this be even classed as a reaction. You said virtually nothing about the mv
it’s because it’s from a livestream where he takes requests and everyone sits back and *enjoys* the music. if you’re upset, then that’s you, there’s more important things to be worried about.
@@accioyoongi he already explained
more EXO plz 🙏❣️
Fellow EXOL, please stop giving attention to this kind of people who honestly have zero interest and respect for our boys and their music. There are way better reactors out there that actually care about the artists they react to.
LOUDER
oh brother, as an exo-l just get over it. if you’re going to say something at least type right.
Please do more EXO X
Thank you for Kai's abs. Birdy maybe but I'm concentrating on other things so I don't mind as much.
Roscoe since you did a deep dive on 5HINee you should do one on EXO because both groups are super close. So close that Jonghyun actually helped co-write and produce a few of EXO's earlier songs.
please check Lay's ''Step'' hos new release it's very satisfying and Chanyeol's debut too '' black out "
uppp and Chanyeoll and Baekhyun too
My favorite song from Exo!!!!
Uma das melhores eras um dos melhores conceitos do Exo! Amo essa música
thanks for your reaction ❤
Dude EXO Mama, Growl, Overdose(you said it was already on your list), Tempo, and drop that (it doesn't have a music video but it's a fun performance) we'll be waiting for your reaction 🥺🫡
Love this!!! Monster is another great song from EXO!
this joint makes me wanna run off to the gym and hit the weight hard.
The Vocal Kings of Kpop fyi.
React to Monsta X Mvs - Wish On The Same Sky. They sing in Japanese and the song Alligator ♥
Thanks
it was a big waste of time trying to get his reaction to this
💜💜
reading the comments as an exo-l is embarrassing no lie 💀
Y cuál es la reacción? Algún comentario sobre las maravillosas voces de EXO, los outfits, calidad del video, los visuals? 🤨
🦜 ⬅️ A little birdie
Please, react to Baekhyun "Bambi" or "All I Got" and "Cry For Love" all the songs have an R&B feel.

There're so many cool transitions and graphic effects in this MV but as a "director" you didn't even pay attention to that. If you weren't interested or didn't plan to film a good reaction with review, don't even upload it please. It's just a waste of time.
روكسو ممكن تعمل على اغنية تيمين الجديدة ❤
kinda disappointed by your reaction
reaction jopping by superm please❤️
