- So what’s the story behind Uniswap - one of the most important protocols in DeFi? And why was the UNI token probably one of the best-distributed tokens ever? You’ll find answers to these questions in this video.
Uniswap is clearly one of the most important and the most discussed projects in the defi space. At its core, Uniswap is a protocol for decentralized exchange of tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. The Uniswap protocol is deployed as a set of smart contracts and it’s completely decentralized, permissionless and censorship-resistant.
Uniswap is built on the concept of liquidity pools and automated market makers or, to be precise, a constant product market maker. If you’d like to learn more about the mechanics of the protocol, check out my video on liquidity pools which uses Uniswap as an example.

Technologies rise and fall, but you will always need someone who's good with their hands to do what's most important: grow, harvest, transform, build, repair, maintain, take care.
On the other hand, life is long enough, you can start learning what you want anytime.
Don't stress it too much. Been in software for over 15 years and only now discovered the blockchain and DeFi world. Sometimes I feel sad I took so long lol but better late than never. Cheers!

I made one test swap on Uniswap in late Aug just to learn more about DeFi. So I'm amazed to be a part of this frontier after qualifying for the token drop. All of these developments are so damned recent yet huge in market volumes that it makes me dizzy.
Yes totally agree with you, but i am using Anyswap for this much better and less fees. They added Uni recently and it is really great project all along....
Same and I had the chance to use 2 adresses and got the reward twice. Still euphoric of that gain. I sold a part way too early but am still holding some as I believe in the project.

I'm prettty new new to the uniswap situation. I made 2 swaps in july/august and got rewarded. But when it comes to LP i get a bit confused. Is it worth investing in say UNI - DAI or UNI - WBTC? Will i make a return on investment pair? or how does it work?

I'm doing both uniswap liquidity mining (ETH-WBTC) and liquidity providing(ETH-LINK) and realized I can't see my fee(0.3%) gain for ETH-WBTC after uni token mining, while I can check my fee gain for ETH-LINK.
I have researched and many people guess probably we get both uni token and fee(0.3%) but nobody can sure.
I DM Uniswap on Twitter and didn't get the answer yet.

Can you comment on how staking LP tokens work? I understand you get the LP token and why but many sites such as badger you can stake LP token for additional rewards. How do these accumulate and why?
one thing i fail to get from defi... why is the token valuable? i get that liquidity providers receive benefit from transaction fees, and that they also get the token, but what can you do with the token? why does it have any value at all?

What is the functionality of the Uni token? Why would I ever need to own one? Same question regarding pancake swap? I understand you'd need Eth and BNB for transactions, but why Uni and Pancake tokens?

How much is a uniswap token?
need some help please folks. I swapped some ETH to Xdai in uniswap, but didnt have xdai added as a coin at the time, I can see the transaction was sucessful on etherscan, but where oh where is my xdai? I have added xdai to metamask..still nothing

Uniswap is a decentralized exchange and does not require registration. You just have to transfer funds to decentraslized wallets such as metamask or trustwallet to use uniswap. You can find videos on it on YT.

If Uni tokens were used to pay fees to use the exchange then I could see the value, but I don't really see the value in the tokens for voting seeing as unless you're a mega whale your votes wouldn't mean much. Right now the percentage given to everyone else apart from employees (over four years) is not enough to get anything passed.
Does owning Uni give you the ability to put a proposal forward? Can non-holders also put a proposal forward? If only holders are allowed to put forward a proposal then I guess that's some value... However, if that's the case then you would only need to hold one token and that's enough.
I just don't get it... Why does paying Uni to holders (as interest or equity), or giving them out as rewards for LPs, give the coin value? To me there's only incentive for those people to sell... but to who? Why should anyone buy in sufficient quantities if their vote is pretty much useless? I really wish they covered fees or something...
I'm interested in receiving actual feedback from people here. I love Uniswap and I hope they come up with a better use of the coin over time (if that's possible.)
Like with all the other governance tokens, there is an assumption that because of human nature, there will be a proposal made at some point that will reward the token holders. Right now people are speculating on this possibility.
On top of that, for some people, even the right to vote is important as they could decide on the future of potentially one of the biggest exchanges in the crypto space.

I mean, at least you can use them to vote which is more than many other cryptos. I just wish they could be used as payment for fees or something that would generate constant buying pressure. I just don't see how voting power is going to generate much buying pressure. More of the people buying now and in the future I would assume are just speculating like every other useless crypto.
