Injuries devasted this team in the second half. I will say that a strong attempt should definitely be made to sign Burnes. In those two games against the Royals the Oriole hitters looked lost & swung at some pitches they had absolutely no business swinging at & during the regular season wouldn't have.
Mentioning injuries is just an excuse. Last season they were fairly healthy, minus Batista, and they still couldn't win a playoff game! Royals are a better pitching team than the Rangers were a year ago winning the WS. But the constant both seasons, the hitting was not there when it was needed most, the playoffs!
Time for a new manager and new hitting coaches. I can’t remember seeing a playoff team that who seemed so clueless in situational hitting. They don’t even try to hit behind the runners, etc. I used to love Hyde as manager but he has increasingly showed unbelievable situational ignorance - not just in the playoffs but also in the regular season. Example? He brings in Cano to go against Witt Jr. who was 3-6 lifetime against Cano. So, I thought, okay, he is going to walk him due to the open base. But no, he pitches to him. Ballgame and season over. That is just one example. The first game the tying run was on first base with two opportunities to get him to score. It was O’Hearn. A slow runner. I kept waiting for Holliday to pitch-run and it never happened. A long double would not likely score O’Hearn but would likely score Holliday. These little subtle things are missed all the time now. Lineup construction also is crazy at times. I always looked for the “Sunday disaster lineup” because it seemed every Sunday Hyde basically conceded because he wanted to rest ALL the players that needed resting on the same day. Things like leaving Adley in key early lineup positions most of the year is another example of many examples I could point to. These aren’t isolated cases. They cost games and in my opinion, enough games to be the difference between AL East champs and Wild card. And how can we have not one, but two hitting coaches and all the hitters (with only one or two exceptions) don’t even seem to be aware of situational hitting? I’ve loved Hyde - but the reality is, he’s not good enough to get the Orioles to actually be playoff winners. You know what they say about doing the same things and expecting different results.

3 straight winning seasons, an AL east title, 2 straight playoff appearances. Yes the playoffs were disappointing. But overall everything is moving in the right direction. New ownership. Elias has said they are willing to spend money. Their first off season, so let's see what they do.
all you guys saying hyde is the problem i don’t disagree and maybe leaving him behind will help. he also just managed two playoff games and only gave up 3 runs and i’m sure anyone would have picked that outcome defensively. 20+ people left on base is the problem it’s not the guy penciling them in. if you can’t get a bunt down or push a runner over how are you even considered a big league player. my opinion the os need some veteran help to remind the young guys to play baseball the right way
Agreed but someone needs to be held accountable. Completely unacceptable outcome after making the fans watch 52 win seasons to tank for draft picks like adley, Gunnar cowser and Holliday. Playoffs isn’t enough and they should show this is an unacceptable outcome
Sure, but somebody, usually the manager whether it's fair or not, needs to be held accountable for the poor approaches at the plate that have been consistent for months now. It's also not like they "didn't get a bunt down", nobody called for a bunt, they didn't even attempt it. That absolutely is on the manager.
@@greeneggs7 Yeah I have to agree with this. It's a conscious choice to want to try it and an ethos to recognize the proper opportunity and do it. I guess they could all take a little bit out of the Nasim Nunez book.

The orioles could have put a better package than what was given up to get Randy Arozerana or Jorge Soler. Right handed power bats with tons of playoff experience.
Thanks Mike! I truly believe you will make this team better then what it already is. This team is very young and very good. They just couldn't hit which is hard to admit but it does happen. We have a great future and we have a great nucleus. Make the few adjustments and we will be fine. Our time will come. I truly believe we need the next manager at this point. I love Hyde and he has done great. He has had 2 years of winning in the regular season but now it's time for a change. We need a more experienced manager along with the few player additions to take us to the next level. Bring Buck back for one more run. I guarantee you Buck will get these guys that WS with this team. Good luck Mike! In Elias we trust!

Starting to think we have overhyped this man. Below average deadline moves the last two seasons, the disastrous Kimbrel signing and now bringing Hyde back. Maybe he got lucky on a couple of draft picks and that’s it
Jackson Holiday showed no development. Coby Mayo looked bad. Cowser progressed down. Are they overrated? And why did Gunner Henderson forget how to hit in the last two months of the season. I have no explanation for Adley. He still looks good at the plate to me, probably better than anyone. Westburg and O'Hearn were the best, most dependable hitters. Santander and Montcastle consistently look bad at the plate. I don't blame Hyde or Elias. The pitching was good. the starters good, and looks like it will be better next year. The hitters didn't hit. Maybe these guys can't hit.
Mounty looked good in the first half. But Santander never did despite the 44 home runs. A guy who hits .235 should never be hitting 3rd. Should've kept him 5th
Bringing some bonafide hitters in at the deadline to show us your actually All In woulda been nice, instead you try to sell me Eloy Jimenez and Austin Slater 💩. We won't get any righty power guys here because of what Elias did to our left field wall. That flyball Westburg hit in game 1 would've been a homer in 29 of 30 ballparks.
@Swirvinlirvin yes but they actually played the game of baseball. Walk, stolen base, fielders choice, RBI single that's game 1. Game 2 same small ball strategy and not swinging for the fences and striking out every time. The orioles play terrible baseball. The hitting coach and hyde need to be fired immediately. It's embarrassing
There are a few Orioles that had sub par years like Cedric Mullins or Adley Ruschman or Ryan Mountcastle. I am also concern with the starting pitching. If Orioles lose Burnes then they will need an ace. Bradish, Means, and Wells are out until at least July 2024. Orioles have Eflin, G-Rod, Kramer, Cade Povich, and one year wonder Saurez. That is not going to win you games especially in the playoffs. NYY, KC, Seattle, Houston, and Detroit all have better starting pitching than Baltimore. Elias has reclamation project with Trevor Rogers. It will remain to bee seen if Rogers can regain his form. There is Chayce McDermott as well, but he also struggled during the regular season. You have a glut of players like Kjerstad, Mayo, Holliday, and others fighting for positions. It will be interesting if the Orioles allow Santander to walk. Elias is a smart man. I lost a little trust with Elias when he gave up Connor Norby, Seth Johnson, and Kyle Stowers for little return. Losing DL Hall and Lopez was high risk, but DL Hall has yet to prove he can say in the major leagures. For Orioles to turn the corner then they need to go back to the Oriole way that starts with pitching, defense, and better hitting options.
Hyde is Elias’ guy clearly and it’s turning me on Elias completely. Knew the outcome last year and this year. 2022 orioles could’ve been like this years tigers but we were messing with freakin odor because this franchise has no ambition
Get Luis Arraez. Dude has almost 1k hits in less than 10 years. He’s struck less than 200 times in his career. Hits above .300 annually. This home run bullshit is overrated. Can we hit with RISP? Double’s, singles? Adley staring down pitches down the middle. Get some hitters who hit for high avg and don’t strike out. Maybe the young guys can learn a thing or two?
@@grantpack410 I agree. I trust Elias and I feel Hyde is a good manager. It’s up to the players, we had the opportunities to have a big inning. Just poor at bats. That’s on the players.
He didn't believe in the team last year when they were clearly one of the best in the league and sat on his hands at the deadline. Settled for mediocre players at the deadline this year because he must've thought the injuries were too much to overcome. Can't change the past, but have to find a new manager for next year. They 100% need a new voice and direction in the clubhouse. Played bad baseball for about 3 months and never seemed concerned in the slightest. Every day was just, "we just have to get to the postseason" and then for the second straight year seemed completely unready for the moment. Flat and uninspired because of course they can't just turn it on in the playoffs. Then to have Hyde literally say he let the players decide what to do in the biggest moments of the game tell you he is just along for the ride. Let him take his wholly undeserved manager of the year award and go stink face on someone else's bench.
Here we go again same O thing win in the regular season but fail in playoffs 😕 Brandon hyde should be fired the dude can't coach and if you think he can you're sadly mistaken smh 🤦
He can't coach in the regular season either. Smdh most of the time with his decisions. He couldn't manufacture a run if his life depends on it. It's the player's job to execute, but Hyde refuses to make the right calls to give them the chance to. He doesn't manage aggressively.
Elias is an idiot he should be fired who in their right mind with half a brain cell would pass up the fastest man perennial MVP Bobby Wit for sadly Rutchslowman

2024 tigers are the same as the 2022 orioles except their gm wasn’t starting Chris owings over Jorge Mateo for the first 2 months of the season as well as messing with roughned odor. Difference between an organization with ambition and an org without it
The worst was drafting Adley instead of Wit jr.
@@elniño20501 but someone needs to be held accountable. - yes the hitting coaches. why are you skipping them?
Sure, but somebody, usually the manager whether it's fair or not, needs to be held accountable for the poor approaches at the plate that have been consistent for months now. It's also not like they "didn't get a bunt down", nobody called for a bunt, they didn't even attempt it. That absolutely is on the manager.
@@greeneggs7 Yeah I have to agree with this. It's a conscious choice to want to try it and an ethos to recognize the proper opportunity and do it. I guess they could all take a little bit out of the Nasim Nunez book.
O's won 101 games last year and the royals lost over a 100 games. Growing pains my a@@!!! Do your job and get veterans to go along with these youngsters. Go spend money with the new owners permission and get rid of Hyde and his coaches along the way. There is no reason not to reach the WS in 2025
Mike Elias great job ! You put a good team on the field that needs coached up. The manager Brandon Hyde sucks and needs to be replaced.
His trades at the deadline were terrible. they went dumpster diving with phillies trash and took Ely Jimenez from the worst team in baseball.
Well looks like Hyde will be back in 2025. I don't like it but I will still support my O's. Elias and Hyde has major decisions this off season. Good luck O's
Fire the hitting coach
there’s a reason our prospects don’t develop how we hope at the major league level and not addressing that is why we’re gonna get swept again next year
Elias knows what he needs. He WILL fix it
He’s already broken it by keeping Hyde
@@Oviegoat8 its Hyde's fault they can't score more than 1 run in two playoff games? didn't know he was in the batter's box
@@daniel-eg2oq lower seeds have back to back sweeps on us it’s unacceptable
Elias with Noah a hole in a tree to stick his dumbass he's an idiot the most overrated general manager and sports who in their right mind would pick the slowest player sadly Rutchslowman over MVP the fastest man in baseball Bobby Witt only an idiot would do that oh Mike Elias got exactly what he deserves the entire country laughing at him he's great at shifting the blame I'm so sick of Elias I want to vomit every time I hear his whole open up
@@daniel-eg2oqthere’s a lot more that goes into it. Platooning guys when they start to get hot was never a great idea but they religiously play to stats without taking into account the mental aspects. They manage the playoffs like they’re regular season games and it simply doesn’t work outside of the 162 games. Playoff managing is different
Starting to think we have overhyped this man. Below average deadline moves the last two seasons, the disastrous Kimbrel signing and now bringing Hyde back. Maybe he got lucky on a couple of draft picks and that’s it
😂😂😂😂😂
@@grantpack410 what moves has he made in the last couple years ?
He'd better get BP help, a SP and a hitter who can hit .300
On Mayo.....it depends on who we have on the roster.
Translation.....we are trading Mountcastle.
I hate to say this....but if we let santandar walk and sign a true leadoff hitter.... i think our offensive changes drastically.
I understand injuries hurt us but most our hitters were back for the playoffs so no excuse this was embarrassing as it gets. You cant have bases loaded no outs and not score unacceptable. I swear they better spend some money this off season and give this city the baseball team it deserves its been far to long since 83
New coaches
Man he is super nurvous
We are to lefthanded dominate at the plate. You want to have a good chance to win throw a lefty at us. We need a power RH hitter in are lineup. Need to sign burnes n santander. trade mounty for a powrrhitting 1st baseman. and a lughts out bull pen
1st: FIRE Hyde! O's should offer Max Freid 25-30mill per/yr for next 6-10 yrs, Trade for Skubal and sign at 35-45 mill for next 6-10yrs, and Soto at 48-52 million per/yr for next 8-10 yrs, and stabilize this team for the next 10 yrs! It's time the O's Pay up for the future! Add these 3 players and win the World Series for the next 6 years! Roughly adding 130 mill to payroll per yr for all three to approximately 220-230mill per yr for next 6-10yrs. Winning the World Series repetitively will more than cover the additional expense.
How about some reliable pitchers and a right handed power bat?
We won't get any righty power guys here because of what Elias did to our left field wall. That flyball Westburg hit in game 1 would've been a homer in 29 of 30 ballparks.
Hitting approach in the playoffs needs to be addressed.
Bye bye Anthony santanar and Burnes
Bobby witt jr and the royals showed the orioles how to play ball.
No they didn’t, we just couldn’t hit…. As we only scored one run. They only scored three
@Swirvinlirvin yes but they actually played the game of baseball. Walk, stolen base, fielders choice, RBI single that's game 1. Game 2 same small ball strategy and not swinging for the fences and striking out every time. The orioles play terrible baseball. The hitting coach and hyde need to be fired immediately. It's embarrassing
no
Will not get season tickets next season. Nothing matters until october.
I wonder how many times he said um
For Orioles to turn the corner then they need to go back to the Oriole way that starts with pitching, defense, and better hitting options.
and the Lopez trade is looking great. He was a one half wonder, and we got Cano and Povich
Baseball isn’t quantum physics but Hyde is a dummy. If you want to hold yourself to a high standard you need to let him go.
Starting to get fed up with Elias. If we get swept again next year both Elias and Hyde should be gone.
This post right here is spot on. Do the little things!!
@@justinvicenteestrada1993 Wholeheartedly agree
I agree to get Luis Arraez but I think Mike Elias is a genius and realizes that we need contact high average hitters to complement our power hitters
@@grantpack410 I agree. I trust Elias and I feel Hyde is a good manager. It’s up to the players, we had the opportunities to have a big inning. Just poor at bats. That’s on the players.
@@grantpack410no genius uses Austin slater and James McCann in playoff baseball please
Clown press conference from what is reverting back to a clown organization. If Hyde is the manager next year, then Elias also needs fired.
Amen
KC rebuilt in one year. Elias and Hyde have been given 6 years so far.
150% agree
Total failure for drafting Adley instead of Wit jr.
Adley and Holiday are looking like bust's
this is the worst collapse. the young folks just cannot hit under pressure. Cowser swings at a ball that hit him. moooooooooooooooooooooooo
Want to test a team's resilience? Only pay them when they win.
Hitting and pitching coaches have to go

Remember ,we passed on Witt to draft Adley .
Hyde should be gone. He can't coach in the post season.
He can't coach in the regular season either. Smdh most of the time with his decisions. He couldn't manufacture a run if his life depends on it. It's the player's job to execute, but Hyde refuses to make the right calls to give them the chance to. He doesn't manage aggressively.

Elias too, he did his job with the scouting and drafting but he isn’t serious about bringing us a World Series with those trades he made

Elias is an idiot he should be fired who in their right mind with half a brain cell would pass up the fastest man perennial MVP Bobby Wit for sadly Rutchslowman
Oh that makes a lot of sense go ahead and crown them for his incompetence at the trade deadline
Nope Elias made us watch Chris owings in 2022 when we ended up 3 games out of the playoffs. Constructed 52 win teams so we could tank for draft picks and here we are. Nothing impressive about the job they’ve done

Burnes Eflin Bradish Means Rodrigues gonna be crazy !!
But i think Orioles still makes playoff without Burnes ( Kremer )
However if we look further than just playoff contender we should sign Burnes 👍
Let's Go Orioles !!
By the way, hey manager Hide !! If your team is struggle to score a single run you should think about small ball like squeeze bunt play 🧐

I hate Soto but we could use his consistency on offense u can mostly DH him let Santander walk go and trade for Rooker, Sign Burnes, let o’hearn walk get Mayo more reps move Westburg to 3rd and Holiday will be better next season and I will stick by adley he has been great for 2 yrs and bad for 1 half so I will give him benefit of the doubt
So glad Hyder is coming back.
He’s a losing manager, nothing impressive about managing his team of top MLB prospects to 2 straight playoff sweeps. Why do you think we were the worst team in baseball 4 years in a row? We were tanking for draft picks and this is all we’ve been able to do. Would’ve rather had watchable and respectable teams those years who didn’t tarnish the franchise reputation
Elias sucks terrible moves at the deadline three years straight... Bringing in kimbrell trade with philly and Miami were terrible should of kept Hays.. Slater??? Guy needs to go
