    Young players for the most part are very unpredictable Day in and Day out. We beat them early in the season, They returned the favor in the playoffs. The Orioles have a great future ahead, Its disappointing, But I would much rather be in the position their in with the great young player’s rather than having this team loaded with a bunch of veterans losing like this. Im confident this organization will find the missing pieces to the puzzle and continue to make great progress with the young players. A little luck with less injuries wouldn’t hurt either.

    Injuries devasted this team in the second half. I will say that a strong attempt should definitely be made to sign Burnes. In those two games against the Royals the Oriole hitters looked lost & swung at some pitches they had absolutely no business swinging at & during the regular season wouldn't have.

      Mentioning injuries is just an excuse. Last season they were fairly healthy, minus Batista, and they still couldn't win a playoff game! Royals are a better pitching team than the Rangers were a year ago winning the WS. But the constant both seasons, the hitting was not there when it was needed most, the playoffs!

    Time for a new manager and new hitting coaches. I can’t remember seeing a playoff team that who seemed so clueless in situational hitting. They don’t even try to hit behind the runners, etc. I used to love Hyde as manager but he has increasingly showed unbelievable situational ignorance - not just in the playoffs but also in the regular season. Example? He brings in Cano to go against Witt Jr. who was 3-6 lifetime against Cano. So, I thought, okay, he is going to walk him due to the open base. But no, he pitches to him. Ballgame and season over. That is just one example. The first game the tying run was on first base with two opportunities to get him to score. It was O’Hearn. A slow runner. I kept waiting for Holliday to pitch-run and it never happened. A long double would not likely score O’Hearn but would likely score Holliday. These little subtle things are missed all the time now. Lineup construction also is crazy at times. I always looked for the “Sunday disaster lineup” because it seemed every Sunday Hyde basically conceded because he wanted to rest ALL the players that needed resting on the same day. Things like leaving Adley in key early lineup positions most of the year is another example of many examples I could point to. These aren’t isolated cases. They cost games and in my opinion, enough games to be the difference between AL East champs and Wild card. And how can we have not one, but two hitting coaches and all the hitters (with only one or two exceptions) don’t even seem to be aware of situational hitting? I’ve loved Hyde - but the reality is, he’s not good enough to get the Orioles to actually be playoff winners. You know what they say about doing the same things and expecting different results.

  • @williamb.8762
    @williamb.8762 Месяц назад

    What confuses me is we were first in RISP last year with the same hitting coaches. It just seems there was an organizational hitting philosophy shift last offseason even though the staff remained the same. Look at the change in Adley's approach. Either he was battling an injury, or the changes in his approach left massive holes in his swing and other teams figured out what he could no longer cover mid-season. The injuries were primarily to the pitching staff, but it was the offense who let us down. Outside of Jorge Mateo and Austin Hays our offense was exactly the same as it was on day one of the season (outside of Jackson Holliday instead of Tony Kemp). With how bad our offense was the last half of the season, those two would not have made any difference.

      @Swirvinlirvin yes but they actually played the game of baseball. Walk, stolen base, fielders choice, RBI single that's game 1. Game 2 same small ball strategy and not swinging for the fences and striking out every time. The orioles play terrible baseball. The hitting coach and hyde need to be fired immediately. It's embarrassing

    There are a few Orioles that had sub par years like Cedric Mullins or Adley Ruschman or Ryan Mountcastle. I am also concern with the starting pitching. If Orioles lose Burnes then they will need an ace. Bradish, Means, and Wells are out until at least July 2024. Orioles have Eflin, G-Rod, Kramer, Cade Povich, and one year wonder Saurez. That is not going to win you games especially in the playoffs. NYY, KC, Seattle, Houston, and Detroit all have better starting pitching than Baltimore.
    Elias has reclamation project with Trevor Rogers. It will remain to bee seen if Rogers can regain his form. There is Chayce McDermott as well, but he also struggled during the regular season.
    You have a glut of players like Kjerstad, Mayo, Holliday, and others fighting for positions. It will be interesting if the Orioles allow Santander to walk.
    Elias is a smart man. I lost a little trust with Elias when he gave up Connor Norby, Seth Johnson, and Kyle Stowers for little return. Losing DL Hall and Lopez was high risk, but DL Hall has yet to prove he can say in the major leagures.
    For Orioles to turn the corner then they need to go back to the Oriole way that starts with pitching, defense, and better hitting options.

  • @elock
    @elock Месяц назад +4

    He didn't believe in the team last year when they were clearly one of the best in the league and sat on his hands at the deadline. Settled for mediocre players at the deadline this year because he must've thought the injuries were too much to overcome. Can't change the past, but have to find a new manager for next year. They 100% need a new voice and direction in the clubhouse. Played bad baseball for about 3 months and never seemed concerned in the slightest. Every day was just, "we just have to get to the postseason" and then for the second straight year seemed completely unready for the moment. Flat and uninspired because of course they can't just turn it on in the playoffs. Then to have Hyde literally say he let the players decide what to do in the biggest moments of the game tell you he is just along for the ride. Let him take his wholly undeserved manager of the year award and go stink face on someone else's bench.
