I guess it's because i interpreted the voice direction was attempting to make her sound confident in her capability to stop him.
It sounds like she's standing still instead of launching a fucking exhausting air attack preparing to slash. VA suffered from poor voice direction
@antoniodelaugger9236 You know what, I rewatched the scenes for both Rover's and i think I see where you guys are coming from, I played M Rover and his voice just sounds like that in general, it's always calm and collected (until Havoc anyway) so i looked at it as consistency.
However F Rover is definitely more expressive with her lines so it does actually sound kind of odd, I still think the idea was to portray a sort of smugness or confidence but that's just me.

My take: Delivery is fine, but the context is wrong. If you closed your eyes, it would sound like he was running away from what he THOUGHT was her, but he turns his head and she's right in front of him blocking the way out. In that scenario, where he's trying to escape, but she's not chasing after him but actually BLOCKING him, the cool and collected tone of her voice would actually work and no one would have a problem. It just. . . sounds weird knowing she's chasing AFTER him. This is why voice direction is important.
But the voice acting has to suit the context not the other way around.

Let me rephrase then.
The delivery is fine. But she placed her performance within the wrong context.
If they told her she was chasing (not blocking), I am sure she would have performed the line differently.
I wrote that there’s a reason you need good direction. And that reason is you can give amazing performances, but they won’t always match the context of the scene. Having that context communicated helps them give the correct performance

pettition for Kuro to get the VA back for a re recording. I do not believed it is the VA fault, her voiceline for the combat is perfect, but why is the voice in the story so bad. not just her, but character like Yang Yang as well. its like they were given the line without any context.
I'll be avoiding this game for a while lol. Aside from the female MC's trash design, her voice-acting for those two lines is what will get me to play the console version whenever it releases because I need something to laugh at.

I bet Kuro doesn't have a proper professional voice direction studio for English dub. It's probably some Chinese person who knows English is directing the voice actors on what to do and be like "yeah, that sounds good".
