  • In May 2024 my good friend and cinematographer, Brad Cooper and I were invited to participate in a documentary project in Morocco for our friend Rachel who’d received a Fulbright scholarship to research a dying culture, language and music. Having never been to Morocco or even Africa, I jumped at the opportunity. While it wasn’t a vacation exactly we did manage to find some time to explore.
The culture and history are rich and quite interesting. However, even if you've done some traveling, Morocco is a little different in some key ways. What we learned might be of some use.

Welcome to morocco, we love American people. We are the first country to recognize the United States as independent country.

Oh interesting. Actually my doctor and his family are from Egypt and when I told him I was going to Morocco he said I had to try the Tajine. I guess I figured it was a regional thing.
