In almost every emergency service line of work saying "Quiet" is always seen as a jinx. Also there tends to be more crime and chaos during a full moon supposedly. Firefighters work 24 hour shifts. Another good episode is Season 3 Episode 2.
I work in healthcare, the word “Quiet” is absolutely a jinx and full moons make people nuts.
I’d recommend 3x14 “The Taking of Dispatch 9-1-1” and 5x06 “Brawl in Cell Block 9-1-1” to watch next!
I absolutely believe in the Quiet thing. I work at a daycare, and any time you say out loud it’s going to be a low numbers (low attendance) day, all the kids come late and you have a full house, and if you say it’s going to be a chill day, all of a sudden everyone starts biting each other and you have to write five incident reports.
Ooooo I recommended "Sink or Swim" Season 3, Episode 2 that ome had me so invested
*Spoilers* So in the previous episode 4x05 Buck had to come to terms with some pretty major childhood demons that had haunted him all his life. His parents pretty much rejected him from birth but he never had any clue as to why. As it turned out Buck was conceived as a saviour baby to be a bone marrow donor for his older brother Daniel who was fighting leukemia. The procedure failed, Daniel died and from that moment his parents pretty much checked out of his life. Buck never knew he had had an older brother and the family forbid ever talking about it until he accidentally found out looking through old photos of his older sister Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt). It's pretty heavy stuff but it's also one of the best episodes in the entire series as so much about Buck as a character makes sense when you know the truth.
The way this is like a lighthearted silly episode to give you a break from the intensity too. This is probably the most chill episode I can think of. Treasure Hunt is also a fun one though (Yes, I know there's a murder and a girl who falls into the sewer who finds out her boyfriend has a wife and a money heist and a woman whose husband almost dies but petty jealous Eddie is really funny so that brings it to one of the lightest episodes)

This was a good choice for a random episode of this show, it can work as a standalone. If you ever decide to watch a random episode of this show again some that I think could work well for this concept are 4x12, 3x14, 2x15 or if you are up for a two parter 3x2 and 3x3. Or honestly just any episode of this show would be fun to see, my list could've ended up being way too long.
As for other shows suggestions, maybe the One Chicago shows (Fire, Med and PD) could work for this concept. They would all fit the criteria of a long-running show. Or maybe NCIS, Bones or Castle.

I’m a nurse and I’m not superstitious at all but the full moon brings out the crazies and puts people in weird moods and you’re absolutely asking for trouble if you dare utter the Q word, I’ve never seen a shift go so downhill than when a Dr told us it looked like a 🤫 day.
Also Friday the 13th’s have usually brought me good luck. Most recently a successful job interview.

10:56 I didn't for a long time... until someone said Macb3th in the theatre and that night during the show, part of the set fell onto an actor, the props kept getting misplaced, the lights went to blackout mid show, and someone else tripped very dramatically while running on for bows.

the first few episodes of 9-1-1 season 3 are insane and i have to say i think they are everyone’s favorite. So every season they do this big emergency for the first 3ish episodes and they are so good and i think rveryone loves season 3’s the best. Iconic. You should watch the whole thing beginning to end, you definitely won’t be disappointed!

my suggestion is that unlike criminal minds, this is a very character build series. u can get away with not knowing much of the criminal minds characters but not so much fpr 9-1-1. Fortunately, this show has the backstory in all in one ep.
I would suggest u watch all of the "___ begins" eps first then go back to watch the rest!
Watching the backstory of characters you don't know yet may not be all that interesting 🤷

I forget for newbies that any episode throws you in at 100 IMMEDIATELY. The rest of us are just used to the intensity being 100 as a baseline but I haven't "started" it in like 6 years, I forget, but there is NO easy transition regardless of episode. Episode 1 from the getgo there's a baby in the wall.

The “quiet” jinx works in all languages. I work in a hotel, and every time one of my colleagues accidentally says this cursed word in any kind of language all hell breaks lose!
Just keep in mind that this show is insane... Like the level of emergencies are up there!!
In relation to the Q-word... emergency rooms, doctors offices, retail in general, food service, and paramedical/fire/rescue services are where you, in general, do NOT want to say it. No sir. (In fact, someone says it, usually a patient or the DOCTOR, and I threaten to make them answer the phones. Oy vey.)
Full Moon, Saturday Night is a real thing.
If you aren't gonna watch the show start to finish and are fine with seeing major plot stuff, I would love to see you do double feature of Suspicion and Survivors - season 4 episodes 13 and 14. Just Survivors works coherently too but it might be a little weird of an experience without the previous episode, that's all I'll say. Would make for a great opposite tone to this one.
Ohhh, the Q word is actually a jinx. I used to work at a walk in clinic/family practice back in Florida and I made the mistake of saying the word. It was horrible.!!!!!!
The full moon thing I totally get. I grew up on a busy street, and every full moon the crazies would come out. Even people driving on the wrong side of the road (almost always drunk teenagers). So I get not wanting to drive during a full moon, friend must have witnessed some things.
If you do another episode, please do season 3 episodes 2 and 3. Honestly amazing episodes.

If you want another episode to watch with a bit more action, I recommend 5x16 "May Day." It's one of my absolute favorites

9-1-1 has a lot of crazy episodes, but my favorite is definitely Buck Begins (Season 4, Episode 5). There are a lot of other good ones too.
I like this. I watch the show now. But I started on Season 3 episode 10. After watching all of season 3 I went back and watched 1&2 so I can catch up on the things I missed.
This is 1 of my most favorite episodes. I love the many crazy calls. A normal episode has like 2 or 3 per (some are funny, some are serious/grim), but this one has more. The Helium one is my fav🎈🤣
Since you're asking for another random episode recommendation, I'm going to say season 3 episode 12 'Fools'.
It's earlier than this one so it'll give u a bit of context from this episode; when Eddie met Miss Ana Flores, why he yelled at her, also u can see Eddie's son Christopher. He is adorable and the treasure of the show. (it's also before season 4 which is basically the 'Covid season')
