- All aboard the submarine! For the second year in a row, Becoming Wild gets a taste of life in the American Hockey League with the Iowa Wild. This time we pack our hockey bags and head east as the team embarks on a five day journey from their home Des Moines, Iowa to Grand Rapids, Michigan for two games with the Griffins. On and off the ice, see what it takes to get the job done through the eyes of Wild prospects like Sammy Walker and Jesper Wallstedt.

I love Zane’s nod to Manny Fernandez old helmet. Kinda feel bad for Rossi being sent back down but I agree he wasn’t ready. He has the potential just needs to grow into it.

Jesper, I believe is the next dominant goalie. If he gets rolling he can make steeling a game look easy.
He moves really well for a big man
From working in the arena and seeing the enthusiasm and energy of these guys before and after game at home is always great to see lets go IA wild.

i was on the ice with Mikey after the draft, and it's incredible the skill these guys have. and they aren't even at the highest level. one the prides of Abby baby

it's low, but remember, most of the non-Canadian players in the NHL come from the AHL.
this isn't surprising either, since the AHL is the development league for drafted NHL players.

AHL aint the second best. Before the war KHL took an easy dub and now you got SHL, Liiga and bunch of other leagues that could compete with AHL.

I'd say khl is definitely better then a lot of AHL teams but a lot of AHL teams would slap some of those khl teams into next week but yea SHL an liiga can't compare to AHL NHL or khl at all
@@dylanlevy2107 shl is def better than ahl. they wanted wally closer for an easy call up if hes going crazy and an easier way to keep tabs, which is easier when hes a state away as opposed to an ocean away.

He’s obviously in the AHL to get comfortable in a new surrounding and to get used to the smaller ice surface.
AHL isn’t a higher level league than the SHL. A different type of hockey for sure but not a higher level.
There is several examples of players dominating the AHL not producing anything noticeable in the SHL. Don’t act like this when you’re clueless mate..
