    my dear chap, well done I have to say. You are the first man from the USA to do it right. 1st you looked up the laws of cricket, and not only that you go straight to test cricket. That is not only the hardest form to understand and best form, but you did get the gist of it, as in the excitement that builds up over the days. many of your comments were spot on, if not all, but the more one watches the more one will understand, happy viewing, I'll be there with you.
    Bye the way, the crowd were not booing when the fours were scored, they were making Joe Roots name sound, rooot.

    13:40 actually in cricket the bowling side has to appeal to the umpire for an out. If you don't appeal, umpire won't give an out even if it's out.
    You gotta convince the umpire about your conviction. So the entire team jumps in to appeal. Even those players who might not even know if it's out or not.

    Century in test cricket is a good score for a batter. A century is 100 runs by a single batter. In test cricket the world record is 400 by Brian Lara of West Indies for the highest individual test score. 300s are very uncommon. 200s a rarity but happens every now and then. 100 is a good enough score for a batter. 50 is called a half century

    Great to see you picking up bits of Test match rules and gameplay. Its very tough for non-cricket fans to pick it up easily.
    Test match is called so because it really Tests the quality, talent, temperament and skills of a player. Its the ulimate sport.
    The beauty of Test match is that it gives the whole team a 2nd set of innings within one game to Right the Wrong they did in 1st innings or to give up or to just dominate and deflate the opponent.

    Reason behind fielding team screaming is because the batsman will only be given out only if the fielding team appeals for it. So if a batsman is out on a particular delivery but no one from fielding team appeals for it hence umpire won't give the decision on his own. The fielding team must appeal. That scream that you hear is basically bowler asking 'How's that?' but since they are screaming in excitement all we hear is a scream like aaaaaaaaa but if you listen to them carefully if the mics catch them clearly it's basically fielding team appeal 'How's that?

    On the question of runs, it depends on the person. The first three or four batsmen in the batting order will be specialists, so 50 runs would be a reasonable expectation for them. As you go down to the middle order, you get bowlers and the wicket-keeper at bat. If they can score 20-30 runs, that's good. The last few in the batting order will be specialist bowlers; they often aim to get to double figures. Of course, you do get players getting unexpected scores, but that's why wickets tend to fall more frequently as the innings progresses. Hope that helps!

  • @arc5179

    Well a good score for a batsman depends on the conditions of the ground in some cases even a 30 run score can make a batsman proud and cause big impact..but yes in general 50 is a good..100 is something that is memorable and yes anything above that is always sweet😂

  • @Praveencapri
    @Praveencapri Месяц назад

    depending on the tough pitch and bowling conditions- if it is a good batting pitch 100 is good, in tough batting conditions even 50 is also good

    Runs are hard to get in test cricket because team can bowl away from batsman consistently and place the fielder to make him go for it as they trick him for mistakes
    So getting half century (50) and century (100) by a batsman needs great resilience and techniques
    If a batsman scored more than 150 in an innings that team would cross 400 runs in total for sure thats a minimum threshold run to get the game into 5th day play and to win or draw situation than loosing.

    Nothing is considered good until the game ends and u have the result in front of you, A batsmen would love to score as much as possible once he gets set , bcz the longer he stays the more pressure it will create on the opposite team and more mistakes they make.

  • @avi42888
    @avi42888 Месяц назад

    Hello Mate. You are watching a test match that will be played for 5 days. Secondly, there is no such threshold score for an individual it depends on the situation especially while chasing any particular score that helps the team get over the line considered to be the better inning However again so many different factors are included But when batting first it is different again. Usually, in cricket 100 would be something every cricketer wants to reach it is a milestone. Cricketers usually refer to that particular player that he is in a good knick.

    A 'good' score by a batter might not always be a lot, it can depend on the situation of the game.
    Appealing to the umpire is technically asking the question: how is that? Or howzat? Quite often its just incoherent yelling and arm flailing, asking or yelling both are accepted

    You should react to the ultimate test series of recent years. Australia vs India in Australia. It's almost like a movie. First match India humiliated by Australia after being bowled out for a record low score in test cricket history. India star player Virat Kohli leaves Australia for the birth of his child after the first match. India comes back by winning the next match. Lots of injuries in the camp. Net bowlers who are rookies nobody knows get chance. They draw the 3rd test match after a gruelling fight with Hanuman vihari batting with an injured leg and Ashwin with an injured back. They take barrage of balls to their body. But defend somehow and draw the match. Then comes the final match at Gabba. It was Australia's fortress. They hadn't lost a single test match in that venue for the past 37 years. India's camp is full of injury. The few rookies on the bench get a chance. A young inexperienced Indian team against a full strength Australian side and they somehow pull of a miraculous victory by chasing 300+ on the last day of the test match , a feat that's almost impossible in test cricket in the final day. India win the series down under. It is one of the best test series of all time. It was a story of redemption and a story about a team that rose from the ashes after the humiliating 36 all out in the first test match. Outside the field other stuff were going on like Siraj who was on his debut series and played a pivotal role in the victory lost his father during the 2nd test match.
