I still consider the bolt thrower itself the worst weapon in the game. Unless you are into picking one enemy after another slowly, thus spending more than 10 mins in one area, it just gets boring fast (it's possible to do a kill-all-enemies-except-chapter-1 run with this btw, but there's no way I would do that; my viewers would fall sleep...). The attachable mines on the other hand... just know where to place them and you will shit on anything • This was the only weapon type I couldn't kill the Verdugo with. FYI, based on some simple calculations, you need around 200 bolts or 70 mines to kill him WHILE HE IS FROZEN • Not sure if Capcom f'ed it up with previous updates, but some boss fights don't give you back the bolt... • If a Regenerador eats 3 mines, it will falls down even though you don't break it's leg. This is consistent and not RNG at all. I took advantage of that at 4:04:38 and 4:21:12 • There is something strange about stacking mines against bosses: they can deal more damage than you expect. Typically, a mine deals 1440 damage unless the enemies have some sort of damage nerf. With that in mind, a stack of 9 mines should have dropped Salazar down to around 63% health (his base health is 35400). However, during testing, I saw that his health can be anywhere between 38-63% after that 9 mines, and I have no idea why... What I did is try to drop his health to the 45-49% range, cuz in that case his pattern is exactly the same at what you see the video. If you somehow drop him down to 38%, he got a different pattern, for example • At 5:24:23, if you do what I did and jump down to the lower platform as Saddler about to jump up, it's possible for Saddler to just stand there doing nothing afterwards. I didn't discover this btw; credits go to @idi-jq6cj for that
I did something like this on my first run, and the bolt thrower is my favorite weapon. Aside from regeneradorss and novistadors, everything else it's very easily killed. I found weird that data on the verdugo. I stunned locked with mines very easily, but the last hits were done with the bolt action rifle. Also, i don't have re frameworks or any other program that tells me the base damage, so i dunno. About the bosses, the max amount of "drops" of bolts it's locked at ten. Not the single bolts, but the... Let's say the red light. After you kill an enemy, you can pick up, let's say eleven bolts, with one drop of ten, and one drop of one. If you shot at the floor, you can only put 10 bolts on the floor, with each red light signalling a drop, just containing one bolt. after that they disappear. Thus, i concluded bolts "drops" are capped at ten drops. This in most areas, but not others. Some areas will not track your bolts. For instance, the altar at the beginning of the game, where later in the game you find a small key, and before the wolves in the lake; this specific area would lose track of any bolts. I know there are no enemies there, but i was playing arround and found this up. Some enemies have a higher chance of "breaking" your bolts. Some people say they "break". I just say the game does not track them very well. For instance, plaga guadaña (the first type of plaga) will lost like 1/5 of your bolts. Wolves with plagas will lost way more than that. I once lost like 7 bolts on a single wolf, when all of the bolts landed of the wolf. This was before finding ashley, with the wolf at the church, next go a wall, so there was no way i missed the shot, they just disappeared. With all that said, the game does not track bolts on certain enemies, does not allow more than ten "drops", and it's more prone to do this on different areas. You can shot 10 bolts at the floor, and the 11th bolt would make the first one disappear. This is worst with mines. You can stack up to 9, even 10 mines before the first one explodes, however they not always explode wheb you try to spawn-kill an enemy. If i stack, let's say 8 mines, there was always one mine that never exploded. It was just there, not even bipping, and I could grab it at any moment, so it's a glitch. However, this could happen with more than 6 mines. You put six and there's one not exploding. You put seven, and there's one not exploding, etc. So i assume the damage is capped at 5-6 mines, will would explain your finding that you could not deal more damage to Salazar. Even with alllll of that, i still love it, though. It will not recommend it for speedruns, no damage runs, no save run, or people liking exploding heads and dismembered bodies, but i love stealth kills and have no problem with spending more than one hour in an area. Also, I didn't do an only bolt thrower run, but mostly bolt thrower, with bolt action rifle and skull shaker at some points. I still find it more useful than most guns, since can kill bosses and control mobs, but bolts and mines would eat a lot of your inventory (hence my skull shaker and bolt action rifle, since i couldn't carry anything else) Perfect run, congratulations. The only thing i would add it's that you could carry a handgun or a tmp and not use it. This is because handgun drops are like 600 pesetas (i think with the charm of leon with shotgun), and tmp drops are like 1500 even without the charm, and can send them back to the inventory if you need space. I did that and had way more money with just the handgun ammo. The game drops you like 2 drops of 10handgun ammo very consistently if you have 0 handgun ammo. So next to a merchant and a typewriter, that's like 1k, very useful in the village, not so much in the island.
Just to clarify, the cap on the mines seems to be restricted to one surface/explosion, since you can stack 6-4 mines at the floor when mendez appears, and then 6-4 mines on the ceiling, and it would work very consistently. Also, irregular textures/mesh sometimes don't let you grab your bolts, like in the island/Village. This happens very rarely at the castle. You can't grab bolts from ladders many times, but sometimes you can grab a bolt like 4-5 feet away from leon's head. So, the tracking of bolts it's all over the place, inconsistent and unreliable. I theorize this is because the bolt thrower is a weird weapon, rarely seen on videogames, and thus seems to be very hard to code for that. And since it's very unpopular (except for me and like 2 other guys), i don't think capcom would fix it.
You really think the Bolt Thrower is the worst weapon in the game? I think it's the best. Yeah someone it can be tedious if you're trying to kill every enemy but it stun locks enemies to oblivion
same i used bolt thrower on cabin for my 1st run of game but dps was too slow even with abusing the stair but i was not strategically abusing the exposive mines :D
The Bolt Thrower while a hard weapon to use with it aim and sluggish movement, is a rewarding kind of fun. I always find it hilarious to use the mine and place it before triggering the enemy or boss cutscene. I dont know why but the enemy cluelessness as they ran into the mine or getting place into it by one just....cracks me up.😂😂😂
This right here, is the weapon that determines whether or not someone has a skill issue regarding the usage if they think it's one of the better weapons or one of the worst.
No there's no way you did this! What a legend! I am almost done watching all of your videos the content is top tier! But this leaves one speechless my God.
Master kd mode engaged 😂 professional as always 👍 time for separate ways now in other ways or any old resident evil series like 2 remake if possible 🎉🎉
Good job beating the game with this thing. I really, REALLY wanted to like this weapon. But it ended up as this obnoxiously clunky and low powered weapon where its ammo takes a huge amount of space in the inventory where it doesn't deserve for the aspect of being reusable. I had a better time defeating enemies and managing inventory once I got rid of the Bolt Thrower.
It's definitely doable (except for chapter 1 as usual). I will have to say tho, it will definitely incredibly boring. It takes forever to clear an area if you only use bolts, since mines are limited
hello! have you ever heard of the “berserker mod” for RE4 remake? it makes the game much more difficult! since you’re a pro player you may find it challenging and fun!
dude, the vr version is one of the best I've tested, so I strongly advise you to do so. Otherwise, I have a challenge for you: you can use any weapon you want, but the handicap is that you can't reload. You can only empty your magazine and then reload, but never reload even if there are bullets left in the magazine. is there any way you can make other similar games like the last of us?
I actually LIKE the bolt thrower, in a "liking a fun gimmick" sort of way. It has EXCELLENT ability to inflict heavy stun on enemies, and is great when combined with the ability to do follow-up attacks with melee/knife. But I tried my own bolt thrower only challenge on hardcore. And I had to quit after Mendez because HOLY CRAP it sucks if your aim isn't good enough to hit legs/head (as a controller player, my aim is mediocre), sucks at long range, and sucks if follow-up attacks aren't viable.
Great run except that you're often not killing enemies at all and run through like speedrunner, though you have such possibility, enough bolts and mines, and even not killed Ant boss
First off, thanks for confirming that you didn't read my pinned comment where I answered both of those questions (which I guess is not really visible even though it's pinned?) This is an S+ run. I didn't mention kill all anywhere. It's literally impossible with the bolt thrower only and S+ at the same time. I also mentioned that I did NOT want to kill all since it's literally the most boring thing to do with the bolt thrower. The bolt damage is too pathetic, and I didn't want to spend 10 minutes in each area picking off one enemy after another You can NOT kill Verdugo in this run. Good luck hoarding enough bolts and mines for that
I see why the main game drops so little ammo. They balanced the drops around this thing, having infinite ammo. Thankfully, they didn't do this in Seperate Ways.
Back when I played, it's definitely the second. I quickly abandoned the idea of headshoting enemies since the weapon is pretty in accurate Since you technically have infinite ammo, I didnt really care about stunning enemies to get melee prompt either. It's just unnecessary and even risky to throw yourself into a horde of ganados (due to how slow the weapon-ready animation is)
one question: is it really slowly to go up the ladder when the cow dude breaks in, jump trough the window, lot the to boxes, place the wheel amd then go down, avoid the trap? cause this way they dont follow you.
Originally I was planning to hoard all healing items in the inventory just for fun, so I didn't plan to sell anything. I can store first aid sprays in the storage to save space in the inventory Later on, I had to abandon that idea since the bolts took too much space The money in this run is pretty much useless after you fully upgrade the bolt thrower. You can think that it's just my OCD to combine treasures optimally
maybe so, but the bolt thrower is NOT a fun gun to use, so i'll pass... i tried the bolt thrower in my very first playthrough of the game and haven't touched it since...
I had the exact opposite experience. I got it on chapter two, and on chapter four i realized i wasn't using my handgun at all, and have not use it ever since. I got it on my inventory to have handgun drops to sell, which is a good way to farm money. This playthrough is basically how i did my first run of this game.

I think you're now ready for the Blind Folded , Hand tied to chair, No damage run in RE4 remake
🥶
Add a "mosquito bite on your back that you can't reach or scratch" to that list, and still wrecks RE4
