Wouldnt you want the spd wired in the pv side of the breaker? The reason i ask is because it seems like the breaker would trip in the case of surge and excess power wouldnt be able to make it to the spd 🤔

Breaker would never trip, it's not even designed to withstand thousands of volts

This was an easy install. With 6kw of solar the off grid battery has not dropped below 65% in 45 days.

QUESTION: Do you have a link on where to purchase the DC breaker and the breaker box?

  • @Just_An_Idea_For_Consideration

    QUESTION 2:
Do you tie the ground wire from the solar array to the inverter room ground, and any other details would be great?
    thx

The Midnight Solar instructions clearly state to avoid any bends in the wiring, yet you essentially created a 180 degree bend by using a wire nut on your ground.

Unnecessary bends, not all bends. And sharp bends. Don't kink the wires. The actual text from the MS instructions is: "The conductors used to connect the SPD to the line or bus shall not be any longer than necessary and shall avoid unnecessary bends."

Seem pretty silly to have a 1000V 400A breaker from you PV feed. Some very long series strings of panels could possibly add up to 1000V, but it takes a hell of a charge controller to handle that. And never will you ever see anywhere near 400A coming in. You should always do breakers that fit your system. Not so sure I trust this guys info.
