Maybe because the song is about having faith in a cause that you believe to be more important than yourself. And that even if you die, that cause will keep on fighting until the very end so that your sacrifice wouldn't have been in vain. At least that's my best guess.
I’ve noticed that all of the songs in this movie have different emotions- Blame Canada- vengeance What Would Brian Boitano Do- Determination Up There- Desperation Uncle Fucker- Comedic La Resistance-Confidence/hopefulness
I like how even though stuart and carol are addicted to drugs and alcohol and can’t pull themselves out of poverty, they still love their children and most likely wish the kids had it better and don’t end up like they did
Gregory stole the show for me, even though he couldn't care less about Terrance and Phillip. He stood up for what he believed in, that innocent people should not be put to death.
He didn’t sing that much in Brian Boitano either. It may just be because he didn’t want to sing when Kyle and Stan could do it for him. Or maybe Matt and Trey felt Cartman’s voice was distracting or something
In the Spanish versión of the film, when Butters falls eith the flag at the end of this song he says something like "Ah Shhhit". I laught loud with that detail, and I'm surprised that in the original versión he simply says... nothing.
It has to do with Butters not being a character yet. I think at this point they were planning on creating Butters, but had only gotten to the point where Matt was playing with the voice according to the commentary. Butters' first episode came out either later on in the year or the next year after the movie.
I remember when this movie came out in ‘99, one person online said: “Whoever thought the South Park movie would be a musical?” But the songs are fantastic. They are well staged, tuneful and catchy as hell. Bravo. Marc Shaiman Helped with the music, who had worked on Hairspray
So many years later, its incredible how well this works as a musical. You really see the love that Matt and Trey have for the genre, and it makes sense why Book of Mormon was so amazing
I know this is all supposed to be non diagetic, but I fucking LOVE imagining Terrance and Philip honestly belting their hearts out while the guards just get more and more annoyed

I almost cried when Kenny showed his face and talked. He is a fucking hero, nobody never cares about him, but this time, Satan himself and South Park people realised he his a savior, and he could even go to Heaven despite he is not a Mormon. This guy is so epic.
Broadway musicals and Disney classics are beautiful and moving, but also sentimental and full of clichés. That's what I love about this movie: South Park's thick layers of irony rid the musical idiom of their kitsch and make the musical idiom fully enjoyable.
If you notice, Kenny's dad has a picture of him wrapped around his helmet. That was a nice touch. It the little things that can make something feel authentic.

At 1:28, at the far right, there's a background character who appears in almost every episode who is simply named "The Boy in the Blue Hat"
At 1:30, he is replaced with Craig
AM Keefer 0:38 - 0:46 Craig disappeared
UlquiorraVSGrimmjow Craig wasn't there at all until 1:30. However, at 0:44, the boy in the blue hat dissapears
I was wondering who That was i Though that was the old craig
AM Keefer did not catch that when I saw the film. but i saw Clyde and another guy who don't have a name and i did not found him at South Park Wikia. but they keep change places through the whole movie.

Sneed, sneed, sneed indeed!
For some reason, this song is extremely inspiring.
Maybe because the song is about having faith in a cause that you believe to be more important than yourself. And that even if you die, that cause will keep on fighting until the very end so that your sacrifice wouldn't have been in vain. At least that's my best guess.

He's Kenny, what do ya think?

Mysterion it is really inspiring.

FYI That part was a reprise of Mountain Town

I’ve noticed that all of the songs in this movie have different emotions-

Up There- Desperation
Uncle Fucker- Comedic
La Resistance-Confidence/hopefulness
Oh forgot one
Oh my
It is not "What Would Brian Boitano Do", but Mountain Town
What about mountain town, it's easy m'kay, kyle's mom's a bitch, i can change and mountain town reprise

You say it like it's shocking.
isaiah baker Matt & Trey are really talented but I never noticed as a kid and appreciate it more now.
it has won a bunch of music awards even a grammy i believe
Gregory stole the show for me, even though he couldn't care less about Terrance and Phillip. He stood up for what he believed in, that innocent people should not be put to death.
Thank you for the kind words
As much as I can't stand Gregory, god damn did he perform a real good musical number.
Oof
Mage he’s also on the Stick Of Truth
What the hell happened to Gregory?
Archie Davies nothing happened to him they just used him in the movie that’s all
Mage I can’t stand that you don’t heal me
I just realised cartman isnt singing because he has the v-chip lmao
He didn’t sing that much in Brian Boitano either. It may just be because he didn’t want to sing when Kyle and Stan could do it for him. Or maybe Matt and Trey felt Cartman’s voice was distracting or something
He was at the end
@@patrick-xu1go when the 3 were singing they said a few curses so he couldn't of. Good and neat attention to detail
@@poisonmushroomcookie1452 yes but he didnt sing any curses

In the Spanish versión of the film, when Butters falls eith the flag at the end of this song he says something like "Ah Shhhit". I laught loud with that detail, and I'm surprised that in the original versión he simply says... nothing.
They had to take out some cuss words so that it would get a R rating.
KC if they put in 400 cuss words it would be NC-17, so they put in 399, it probably wasn't important enough for Butters to say "shit"
The Goat King Channel Holy shit XD
It has to do with Butters not being a character yet. I think at this point they were planning on creating Butters, but had only gotten to the point where Matt was playing with the voice according to the commentary. Butters' first episode came out either later on in the year or the next year after the movie.
Alex Welder -- This is before Butters became a character with a voice. He was simply a background character here.
I love how the boys didn’t initially sing but when they did chime, it was very much in character with what the boys would do.
This song is actually really good, gives me chills at the end
I remember when this movie came out in ‘99, one person online said: “Whoever thought the South Park movie would be a musical?” But the songs are fantastic. They are well staged, tuneful and catchy as hell. Bravo. Marc Shaiman Helped with the music, who had worked on Hairspray
I remember that guy online in 99
Of course Gregory has the best song.

Lyrics :
[Gregory]
God has smiled upon you, this day.
The fate of a nation, in your hands
And blessed be, the children, we
Who fight with all our bravery,
Till only the righteous stand!
You see the distant flames?
They bellow in the night.
You fight in all our names,
For what we know is right!
And when you all get shot,
And cannot carry on,
Though you die,
La Résistance lives on!
[Gregory and the children]
You may get stabbed in the head,
With a dagger or a sword.
You may be burned to death,
Or skinned alive, or worse!
But when they torture you,
You will not feel the need to run for,
Though you die,
La Résistance lives ooooon!

Addison Tomkinson i just realised that omg
I thought that was a flower or something. Holy balls
Not cute when you realised Kenny dies through setting a fart on fire and having his heart replaced by a baked potato
Awwe
When you strip away the humor and extravagance of the show, Matt and Trey always put a lot of heart into their work and it shows in details like that.

The soldiers singing is the best part of the song. Soo short tho
If you notice, Kenny's dad has a picture of him wrapped around his helmet. That was a nice touch. It the little things that can make something feel authentic.

-ello, third comment. ngl im suddenly addicted to this song and because of that im lurking here more-
I saw a few opposing people in the comments saying the site is dead. It's not exactly dead, just _uhhhhhhhhhhh_ down for now. If it ever does die, the community's not dead, the content is archived, and "internet bullies" will still exist whether or not you want them to. You just won't have a single name or site to identify them with anymore until they bring their community back together and rebuild.
