“Arseling” in Old English just means “backwards” and he calls Uhtred that because Uhtred wears his sword on his back when it’s customary to wear the sword at ones side. 😊
One of the best things about this series is there are hardly any "filler" episodes, every episode has something going on and usually something quite exciting
Netflix seasons have this "filler feeling", I'm glad the way they finished it and time they finished it. After first two seasons and half of third, next ones are kinda chaotic, repetitive, sometimes pointless, not mentioning lower production quality.
Same!!! They're both going to be in My Policeman but they're probably not going to be in the same scene 😭. I just hope they know about each other and have met lol
@@ronweber1402 look for Linus Roach as an insane cult leader in the awesome Nick Cage feature Mandy (2018). It's a definitive performance by Ken Barlow's little boy and they even had him record an entire creepy folk rock record in character to add to the mythos.
You're not on a different timeline, you're on THE timeline. Please forget everything you learnt from Vikings, it will only throw you off. It is indeed Ivar and Ubba, sons of Ragnar.
I think the producers of TLK purposely didn't mention that Ubbas last name was Ragnarsson to avoid confusion but Vikings fans get confused anyway lol. Ragnar Ragnarsson is the son of Ragnar Ravnsson and Ubba Ragnarsson is the son of Ragnar Lothbrok. They're not related, they just have the same last name because of Danish naming traditions
@@MikaIsDead Exactly, in fact in Saxon Stories (the books that The Last Kingdom show was based on) the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok are called "Lothbroksson" (Ivar, Ubba and Halfdan Lothbroksson) Ubba is called like that once in the show too. Bernard Cornwell himself (author of the books) said in his website where he answer fans question that he call them like that (Lothbroksson) to avoid any confunsion between the families since the Ragnar Ravnsson's sons already are called "Ragnarsson (Uhtred, Rorik and Ragnar Ragnarsson)
same timeline but different universe. the last kingdom begins with the invasions of the great heathen army but the vikings show has nothing to do with TLK. TLK is more based on what really happened from a fictional characters POV
Getting into the story is reacting. In fact it's the best reaction. This series is so good from start to finish and I can't wait to see your reaction videos as the story plays out for you both.
If I'm not mistaken "Ubba" is the danish pronunciation of the name and "Ubbe" the norwegian, but both are right. Historically Ubba is usually quoted as being danish as far I saw so he is more usually called "Ubba", as in Vikings show they made him norwegian they call him Ubbe. But you can notice in that episode where the danish kings appear they call him "Ubba" in Vikings show too
I just know you guys are going to love this show, I finished the final season this year. I've been watching it since it premiered in 2015. Uhred of Bebbanburg is one of the many phenomenal characters in this show 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Most of these kind of shows take some time to get going. This show has been intense from the beginning. Has some of the best dialogue since Black Sails.
Note to Nikki regarding the use of the term "to plow" for the f-bomb that you might find kinda funny...First, the f-bomb apparently has German roots, which meant to plow--both in a field or sexually speaking. Second, I remember a discussion a few years back during the first season of Outlander on Starz. A character used the term "to plow" in a derogatory way and immediately got slapped across the face for it. Many viewers wondered why this female character didn't use the f-word. Outlander is based on a book series, and the author had researched this. She said that at that time and place (18th-century Scotland), other terms were used but not the f-word. They said swive or plow. There was a whole etymological discussion about it at the time with some viewers who can get very passionate as you can imagine, LOL. So, my guess is that for The Last Kingdom which is also based on a book series the explanation would be similar. There is plenty of cussing/swearing going on...they just use different words. 😉
Nice info! It's an interesting comparison to Deadwood, which was famously set in the late 1800s and filled with modern swearing. Why? Because the showrunners knew they wouldn't be able to get the vulgarity across if they used actual cursing that was period appropriate. Apparently it would've come off as comedic because everyone would've sounded like Yosemite Sam saying 'goldarn' all the time. 😁
this is the same Ivar the boneless from Vikings. brother of Ubba/Ooba, however the spelling is. I think the pronunciation differences are just coz one show centers around ppl who speak Old Norse and the other Old English. Vikings just didnt go into very many of where Ragnar's kids ruled. But between all of them, Rollo and Floki, they ruled all over north Europe at that time
@@menonra30 the real rolo had nothing to do with Ragnar..He was called Rollo the Walker.. Because he was to big to ride a horse..He found Normandy,, His descendant is William the Conqueror.
@@markmorris7123 I meant from the show. It changed a lot of historicity. I didn’t mean Rollo in real life even tho he was the actual founder of Normandy
@@menonra30 you know your last name is very similar to Memnon, who was a legendary Ethiopian king, in the iliad story he goes to Troys aid and fights Achilles.. Now thats a series they should make..A show based on the iliad
@@markmorris7123 He didn't found Normandy. He was given it by the West Francia king in an agreement they would prevent other Norse from sailing up the Seine and attacking Paris.
Ubba's last name in TLK is Lothbrokson. Hence he is indeed related to Ragnar Lothbrok. His brother Ivar is indeed Ivar The Boneless. The timeline takes place roughly 30+ years after Ragnar Lothbrok's death. Hence why Ubba is older. He's roughly 60 years old at this point
@@marcushertz4434 It should be Ragnarsson, but the show and book both change it to Lothbrokson because Uhtred and young Ragnar are also named Ragnarsson and they didn't want to leave people confused that there might be any biological connection to Ubba or Ragnar Lothbrok. It's inaccurate, since Lothbrok is a nickname, but I guess they valued avoiding confusion over accuracy.
@@NubileReptile Yeah that was probably a good choice. Been I while since I read them so I had forgotten that. But psyched that I just ordered the final two books!
@@marcushertz4434 I know that it *should be* Ragnarsson. But the last name was changed in the story to Lothbrokson in order to give a nod to the fact that Ubba is Ragnar Lothbrok's son ... It's also so that there isn't confusion between Ubba and Uhtred's last names.
@@NubileReptile Exactly, this is what Bernard Cornwell (author of the books) himself said on his website where he answers fan questions. He calls the Ragnar Lothbrok's sons as "Lothbroksson" to avoid any confusion with Ragnar Ravnson's sons that already are called as "Ragnarsson"
I’ve been watching this show for the past two months and am almost done with the series and I have to say, this show never lets up, what an underrated gem 💎
I'm reliving my excitement of these episodes watching along with your recaps. As I've watched and loved the series, I remember that Uhtred's motivation is always to regain Bebbanburg, regardless of what else is happening. Uhtred knows that, as he said to Brida in S1 E3; "Uhtred Ragnarson can never become Uhtred of Bebbanburg, never". This helps explain so much of what Uhtred does throughout the series.
Uhtred is such a multi-faceted character, and Alexander Dreymond played him so well. This really is one of the best shows on Netflix, for sure. Loving your reactions and videos! ❤️❤️
You are indeed correct, Steven. Ivar the Boneless is who they were referencing. The real Ivar the Boneless is recorded as dying in Ireland & even has a burial mound there. And if you read TLK books by Bernard Cornwell, he mentions at the end of his stories the real history behind them - Ubbe is indeed the same Ubbe from “Vikings”, the son of Ragnar Lothbrok. They even in the book refer to him & Ivar as Lothbrokson’s. Where “Vikings” took liberties with historical accuracy for the sake of increased drama/epic scale, this story does the reverse & tones down scale a bit to hone into historical accuracy. You are indeed watching the legacies of Ragnar’s sons be forged once again! At this point in TLK, you would be at the end point of “Vikings” in the historical timeline - also worth mentioning: Hvitserk, in real history, also died in Ireland after becoming temporary king of Northumbria. But in Vikings? He took the place of none other than Earl Guthrum. So, in essence, just think of Guthrum as Hvitserk in this show.
The actress did a phenomenal job. Her ability to age herself up while in character kind of blew me away...especially when finding out she was so young when this started. Indeed one of the best arcs.
You guys introduced me to this show, so again, thank you. I've just watched it all for the second time. I can't wait to see your response to the rest of it. Its phenomenal 😃
Hey y'all! The shit talking to each other has barely begun - ooooooooh are you gonna love it! Uhtred through every season has good men that will make you laugh. I absolutely LOVE watching my favorite show with you! DESTINY IS ALL
We still have debt by marriage. If you have debt, such as student loans, and are married, then the husband, or wife inherits said debt. He was angered for having never been told prior to the bonds of marriage. Alfred maneuvered him in a manner to ensure servitude in order to humble him. Then, Alfred places Uhtred in a position of "captive" to test his loyalty. Meanwhile, Uhtred remains nuanced in his actions; a subtle defiance. "The bastard thinks." 👍Uhtred follows his heart. Brilliant writing! I find Uhtred and Alfred's relationship to be ceaselessly captivating. I enjoyed your reaction video, and look forward to seeing more. Take care and God bless. ✝️
Love this show SOOO much !!! In my top three of all time. It gets better and better, can’t wait to see you guys reacting to some of the big moments… and you will LOVE all the characters coming up. !!!!

Lets keep commenting and liking comments lads!!!! Show how much this show needs to be reacted to, not only by the great Nikki and Steven but others! We are a dedicated force!
Nice job pulling “Guthrum” out of the memory bank Nikki!! Glad you two seem to be enjoying it. Your description of Alfred as “romantic” about his vision is perfectly said. You’ll continue to appreciate him I guarantee it. You’re gonna love a few characters that come in later this and next season! Alfred’s ideals are valiant but he literally does not accept any variance. Whereas Uhtred, while can be only about himself, has no problem telling Alfred to go pound sand and is adamant in getting what he rightfully deserves against these political and royal machinations. It’s like the largest most intricate ideal (Alfred) vs the simplest yet impossible to achieve idea (Uhtred). And Uhtred is constantly being asked to do things from a selfish King who has an excellent vision. Amazing
This episode reflects the rest of the series better than the previous episodes up to this point - the relationships is really what separates it from other shows for me.
Yes, the Ivar they're talking about is Ivar Ragnarsson (Ivar the Boneless), and Ubba is his brother. Historically Ivar died (was probably killed) in battle in Ireland, that's why Ubba was there to avenge him. The part in Vikings where Ubba goes to North-America is purley fictional.

Hey Nikki hey Steve, The last kingdom came to my tv screen in late 2015 uk, I was enthralled. I love Saxon, viking, Medieval. After seeing TLK I looked into my ancestry, turns out I’m a Dane with a ? Greenland.
FYI, this is a fictional character Uhtred inserted into actual events as best as it is understood by the writings of King Alfred and his successors. The Vikings T.V. show was from the Scandinavian legend of Ragnar Ragnarson with many, many liberties. What hapened to Ragnar sacking Northumbria, Paris, and being killed in a snake pit are actual accounts. Everything about Ragnar's sons in Vikings is fictional. Ubbe, Ivar, Guthrum were real Vikings who claimed to be the legendary Ragnar's descendents but they invaded 100 years after Ragnar's death and are accurately depicted in The last Kingdom.
I'm sorry but we don't actually think Ragnar existed..He seems to be an amalgamation of many different peoples (like Robbin hood). In fact hes even less reliable than Ronin Hood because Robin hood is 100 percent based on a few different peoples, most notably William of Cassingham Ragnars stories are told in myths and legends..His sons (or the three that claimed to be his sons), are very real and are chronicalised..Where on earth did you read or see that Ragnars death and life are chronicalised? The snake pit story was told in the medieval period not the viking age (Dark ages)..And there is absolutely no mention of snake pit being used as punishment in any historical documents, further more there is no archeolohical findings of any snake pits anywhere in Britain. Alfreds priests and the chronicles do mention Ragnar but it's very shady. And it obviously the brothers were not Raganar sons because of the time gap..It was a lie, an excuse to justify the barbarism...The Danes didnt write and recorded none of there early viking history..the legends of ragnar were written hundreds of years later.. The Danes used the saxon Chronicles for reference, and then told there own stories,, like the Lagatha myth
@@markmorris7123 That is what I was typing about and it is why it is called a legend. The legend of Ragnar Lothbrok is mythological tale of a human son of Odin and comes from Scandinavian poems written in the 12th/13th century 300 years after the events. That is what Vikings T.V. series is mainly about: the poems. King Alfred's priestly scribes kept detailed records and the "Last Kingdom" book series is based mainly on those. But, many of these records match the legend in the poems. Ragnar Ragnarson also descibed as Ragnar Lothbrok was executed by the King of Northumbria in a snake pit and according to the accounts was the same person who sacked Paris and raided the Holy Roman Empire. You are correct that the Ragnar of legend and the Ragnar of Alfred's scribes may not have been the same person. Some historians theorize that the King of Northumbria may have called the Ragnar he executed Lothbrok in an attempt destroy the legend that motivated the Viking raiders or he did it in a vain attempt to show he is stronger than Norse legends. Anyway it backfired, and a massive Scandinavian fleet invaded Northumbria, Northern Ireland, and areas of Scotland. Northumbria and Ireland fell and according to King Alfred's records and the Scandinavian poems, the Northumbian King was executed via a blood eagle. Bernard Cornwell the author of the Uthred series of books writes about what is actual history in his stories and what is fictional in the back of every book in the series. He is very accurate and detailed in what is accepted history, what is contested history, and what he believes actually happened. He sites his sources which are fascinating reads by themselves. Bernard Cornwell also travels to the areas where many of these battles are thought to have taken place to help better describe the battles. A fun note is the Ragnar that raised Uthred is supposed to be the legendary Lothbrok. Instead of being executed in a snake pit, he turns his death into a family feud. It was Cornwell's way of tying his main character to the Norse Legend.
21:20 It's funny you should mention it Nikki because it actually was a problem irl. Alfred would pay the Danes hefty sums to leave Wessex, they would take the money and stay anyway. The nobles/people of Wessex didn't like that very much. Love that you're enjoying the show! The pacing is so well done and it ensures that there's never really a dull/filler moment.
i started this show and now i'm so into it. im on season 3 episode 4 now. such an amazing show, but damn is he freaking handsome and with that long hair. i like young ragnar too so much.
I'm from somerset which is where the real Alfred was from.. And yes the Ivar that died in Ireland is the Ivar the boneless..This show is far more accurate than the other Vikings show. As for the real Ragnar,, it seems he is an amalgamation of many characters..The problem with Ragnar is that the Danes recorded all sorts of myths about him..So it's hard to dicyfer fact from fiction..But when it comes to Alfrrd and the Saxons we have loads of written records from the actual time, as Alfred was meticulous and had everything recorded as it happened..And other kingdoms such as French lands also talk of him. Yes he may have propaganded some things but at least he had everything written down and documented.
Hey guys, love that you're watching this. One of my fave shows, and I'm sure nikki would agree Alexander dreymon, uhtred, is rather pretty, the jon snow of his show lol. If you guys ever visit the UK you can go to a ton of places in the show, that's why they change the names on the screen, cos they're still real places now. Bebbanburg is Bamburgh now, and there is a castle there still, its a later build than the wooden fortress from the 900s but yeah, still the same place, I just checked their website and it seems they're super cashing in on the last kingdom 🤣 Also don't be fooled by the "English countryside" it does look like here but its filmed over in Eastern Europe somewhere.
Uhtred and Mildrith are cute in the beginning but you later realise how unsuited they are for each other because they come from two different upbringings. this is one of the few shows that actually have the main characters's true loves be the second love interest. the way the show handles Uhtred's love interests is actually fairly realistic for the time period on how a lord of his stature and reputation would have multiple wives and many children. Uhtred and Alfred's relationship can be summed up as somewhat of an estranged bromance. this is why i love the last kingdom over shows like game of thrones or vikings because the characters are actually smart and don't have complete lack of common sense like so many other shows set in similar settings. Uhtred is prideful and honorable to a fault like the starks but unlike the starks he't not a raging dumbass who makes critical decision based solely on "muh honourabo"
To be fair Uhtred was still immature he like was like 17 when he married Mildreth so anything to be with religion, he shut it down knowing she very religious. What he did to her he wouldn't have done that in his other relationships.
@@lstarsabb yes Uhtred is very much the embodiment of an Anti-hero in season 1 and for the first half of season 2 i think after his time on the slave ship and Halig's death he changes fundamentally as a person and becomes a better man. he becomes more heroic and good natured. this is what makes the last kingdom superior to say GOT or vikings on a character level the characters actively mature with time as the seasons go on and they don't stay this stagnant character and they don't regress in development either. Uhtred is a massively consistent character from start to finish. not to mention that Gisela was a far FAR better match for Uhtred than Mildrith or Aethelflad.
Yesss. Gisela >>> any other love interest. She was the only one that truly got him in like a "you're human and I love all of you still. you're flawed and I accept these flaws and will do my best to help you overcome them" kind of way
The real Ivar the Boneless died in Dublin in 793. The Ivar mentioned is the same one and he was the son of the Ragnar that you follow in Vikings. The Ubba mentioned is, of course his brother. This show, for the most part follows the timelines far for accurately than Vikings.
Interestingly Alfred revolutionized warfare when he realized the Danes despite being superb warriors struggled to deal with fortifications he instituted a network of burghs ( pronounced burughs an Anglo Saxon word meaning thorn) which were fortified towns his citizens could retreat to during an invasion his plans for these detailed every aspect of their design including how many men were required to man a given length of wall each time he pushed the Danes further back he would build these towns to secure the land before moving further into Danish territory slowly year after year reconquering the land "The bastard thinks"
This show will teach you properly about how England ran during the Anglo-Saxon ages. Forget terms you heard in Game of Thrones, forget "families and bloodlines" you heard about in Vikings... this is the most accurately depicted show I've seen thus far.
@@markmorris7123 yes, GoT is based off of the War of the Roses. I know this. I just meant to point out that Nikki asking if Uhtred was "hand to the king" is an inaccurate term to use in our world. They seem to forget that GoT was set in a fictional realm.
Alfred understands Utred perfectly he knows his cause is not Utreds to he keeps trying to plant hooks to ensure loyalty which Utred keeps trying to break free of both men are trying to use the other for their own ends Alfred is just the better tactician.
something ALWAYS HAPPENS, yes, that is the nature of drama the unliked truth, we crave drama.....if there was no drama, you wouldn't like the show, you wouldn't watch.....it is BECAUSE OF the drama that you watch, WILL those you love, overpower and beat those you hate.....and if they did? Then what? The story is over, UNLESS THERE IS MORE DRAMA!!! you watch BECAUSE there is drama.....you LOVE drama......try to imagine a series, where the guy you love gets the girl you love, and they EASILY, with no conflict, find peace and comfort with each other.....all of that in the first episode, and the remaining 8 episodes is nothing but day in and day out, them building a home, and a land, and a life, with no more struggles nor hardship you watch because, either, you are being forced to, or, because secretly, you love drama, but don't want to admit it......movie and TV entertainment is based upon drama, and every producer knows, without drama, no one will watch.......ALMOST EVERYONE knows, if a person gets everything that they want with no struggle nor CONSEQUENCE (drama), it is a BAD STORY you like drama.....you are in good company......the only real question is, what KIND OF DRAMA, do you like, and that is why film is SUCH A HUGE industry.....because EVERYBODY likes something different
Like I said in episode 1 Last Kingdom tells Englands And Alfred story really goood and Viking tells The Viking story and Ragnars and Co. P.S The relationships and Bromances and Character arcs make this series special considering the budgets it had each season
Not really... the vikings show tells a fictional story, using real characters from history but from completely different centuries.. And they made Ivar out to be some kind of charismatic anti hero, in reality he was closer to Hitler, he helped commit genocide in Ireland, today nearly all Irishmen are descended from danes, oh and he sacrificed thousands of children. This show is far more accurate.. and uses characters that were living in the same century.. I loved vikings but its definitely not history from a Scandinavian perspective..Its just a very good story.
@@markmorris7123 Well that's not what the creator of Vikings said he looked up and done so much research. He studied the Sagas for years before making vikings
I laughed when Alfred Scoffed at how the Danes interact with the Gods. He called it nonsense even though he went and prayed before he left for the trip. The only thing that makes the two situations different is he prays to one specific God and they pray to multiple. Nothing wrong with that. 😮💨
They also sacrifice the living to their gods And in real history Ivar sacrificed hundreds of thousands. And they practically committed genocide in Ireland.
until later seasons once Uhtred has the battle reputation and the men to follow him. Uhtred effectively becomes the man who can highhandedly win wars and turn the tide just by simply being on their side.
The Hand of the King is more of an administrator than a warleader. In this show that role is probably filled by Odda the Elder, or Father Beocca to an extent.
These once a week reactions to my all time favorite show are just to far apart. Lol. Can't you guys just binge watch the whole thing and put up two or three vids a day??? Lol.
My husband loves the Viking series. I have yet to watch it. I love this show, he has yet to watch it, except the last episode, which probably meant nothing to him. Lol! I'll probably watch Vikings with him and then we'll go to this. It is interesting, even though my husband believes in God and we both grew up in church, and we've gone to church together, he says things similar to, "the land is my church". He has a special place on the farm he goes to pray. I think he prays otherwise, as well.
The debt owed I think when I calculated it was millions in todays dollars edit: actually about 250k since each wife also had 600 default shillings worth on average so 2000 shilling debt plus 600 makes it about a quarter of a million dollars in debt that Uhtred acquired
I'm so happy you're doing this, I watched you react to GOT loved it, I recommend very few shows wholeheartedly, GOT and this. The last season just came out this year, and I think they wrapped it up 😍
You are right, Steve. Abba (Ubbe) is Ragnar's son. This show depicts the real timeline, unlike Vikings. Don't miss understand me, I love Vikings, my fav with with GoT, but TLK is more lilke the real story but with Uthred

Thanks, yeah it is easy to forget what the terms of the time were. It is good they are using plow and hump it fits with the era.
Fun fact: late 800s, a king ruled Dublin. He was called "mac Ímar", supposedly a son of Ivarr Ragnarsson
this is the same Ivar the boneless from Vikings. brother of Ubba/Ooba, however the spelling is.
Ragnarsson, not Lothbrokson
I’d say the last kingdoms fandom is… almost as passionate as black sails fandom and with great reason

@@michaelkean5969 -- Exactly. Can't let the timeless gems go to waste.
David Dawson (Alfred) is a cut above the other actors on this show, and EVERYONE on this show is phenomenal.
Love how this epsiode displays Alfred's hypocricy in judging the Danes.
The Queen might be one of my favourite characters, probably one of the best character arcs if I remember correctly.
She has one of the best character arcs in the whole series.
The actress did a phenomenal job. Her ability to age herself up while in character kind of blew me away...especially when finding out she was so young when this started. Indeed one of the best arcs.
@@xerozeven Aelswith was young she was just very dowdy which made her seem older.

Hey y'all! The shit talking to each other has barely begun - ooooooooh are you gonna love it! Uhtred through every season has good men that will make you laugh. I absolutely LOVE watching my favorite show with you! DESTINY IS ALL
Yes!! Utreds band of brothers is the best ❤️
Btw, David Dawson (the actor who plays Alfred) recently visited Bamburgh Castle in England (Bebbanburg in TLK)!!
Probably gonna thank y'all every episode for reacting to this. Def a top 10 for ME. So, thanks!

Im so happy to rewatch The Last Kingdom with both of you along with your reactions! You guys are in for a treat! Vikings was my favorite of all time but this show tied it. Looking forward for more reactions!
An aetheling was an anglo-saxon of noble birth, which Utred was. So Leofric was jokingly insulting him by calling him arseling.
There's this video of Alexander Dreymond getting caught watching Vikings in his trailer...in full Uhtred costume, leaning on his sword. His reaction when caught is hilarious 😂 😃 😄

Amazing
Nicki's disdain at the language used for certain sexual activities makes me chuckle!
one of the best shows of alltime thats how much i love it
This episode reflects the rest of the series better than the previous episodes up to this point - the relationships is really what separates it from other shows for me.
Well it's not purely fictional..They put it in there because the vikings did reach America.. They called it Vinland
Quick fun face Bebbanburg is modern day bamburgh I live like 10 miles from there

This show is great! The only downside of your reactions is that it happens once a week :). Can you guys do that more frequent? :)
Another great thing about the show: a lot happens in each episode. Even without battles, each episode is just packed

Have watched this show so many times. It's one of the best. It's going to be fun to watch you watching it for the first time.

She was the only one that truly got him in like a "you're human and I love all of you still. you're flawed and I accept these flaws and will do my best to help you overcome them" kind of way
the scene when ragnar ragnarson meet uhtred ragnarson always gives me goosebumps
Perfect timing, just got off work early.gonna take a break and watch this with a cup of coffee ☕
I’ve been waiting forever for this you guys! I’m going to cherish each and every episode
One of the great things about this show is the pacing.
"The pagans do not value priests."
Ragnar and Athelstan: Hello!!?
This show will teach you properly about how England ran during the Anglo-Saxon ages. Forget terms you heard in Game of Thrones, forget "families and bloodlines" you heard about in Vikings... this is the most accurately depicted show I've seen thus far.
Games of throne is loosely based on the middle ages. This show is based on the dark ages
I agree with you though, this show is surprisingly accurate.
@@markmorris7123 yes, GoT is based off of the War of the Roses. I know this. I just meant to point out that Nikki asking if Uhtred was "hand to the king" is an inaccurate term to use in our world. They seem to forget that GoT was set in a fictional realm.
35:30 Stunt baby? LOL

something ALWAYS HAPPENS, yes, that is the nature of drama
the unliked truth, we crave drama.....if there was no drama, you wouldn't like the show, you wouldn't watch.....it is BECAUSE OF the drama that you watch, WILL those you love, overpower and beat those you hate.....and if they did? Then what? The story is over, UNLESS THERE IS MORE DRAMA!!!
you watch BECAUSE there is drama.....you LOVE drama......try to imagine a series, where the guy you love gets the girl you love, and they EASILY, with no conflict, find peace and comfort with each other.....all of that in the first episode, and the remaining 8 episodes is nothing but day in and day out, them building a home, and a land, and a life, with no more struggles nor hardship
you watch because, either, you are being forced to, or, because secretly, you love drama, but don't want to admit it......movie and TV entertainment is based upon drama, and every producer knows, without drama, no one will watch.......ALMOST EVERYONE knows, if a person gets everything that they want with no struggle nor CONSEQUENCE (drama), it is a BAD STORY
you like drama.....you are in good company......the only real question is, what KIND OF DRAMA, do you like, and that is why film is SUCH A HUGE industry.....because EVERYBODY likes something different
It was on BBC first two season's, so maybe that's why they chose the term "hump".

My husband loves the Viking series. I have yet to watch it. I love this show, he has yet to watch it, except the last episode, which probably meant nothing to him. Lol!
