I appreciate your honesty and makeup journey. No need for apology or judgment. Enjoy your collection, you are free to change your mind. What’s more important is that your purchasing is more informed as you curate your collection to suit YOU. All that came before was an exploration phase as you learned more about your makeup aesthetic, and that journey still continues and it’s beauty-ful 💕

I can relate 100% I slowly started getting into make up about 1-2 yrs prior to the pandemic. I was still working with a minimal to extra small collection. Like 1 or 2 foundations, 1-3 eye shadow pallets, a highlighter etc.. then the pandemic hit. I got even more into it and wanted to try EVERYTHING. Now I’m at a point like who’s slow down sis. I’m out of the exploratory stage and am more comfortable and know what I like and what works for me. I’ve been project panning, rotating, implementing low and no buys etc. I was on a low buy all year and it has been enlightening. I love make up! It’s my therapy my happy place etc. I decided to be more intentional and selective with what I add to my collection! I adore my collection and love everything I have! I’ve declutterred a bit this year gave things away to family, friends and co workers! But for the most part I only keep what I love and works for me. I could use another declutter but even without it my collection is manageable. I just half to check myself from time to time😂I promised myself and Micheal’s cart and my vanity is all I’m using. That also keeps me in check!

The way I dieeeed 😂 when you broke the news that this was a “declutter gone wrong” lololol. I tried telling people around me why I was laughing so hard but no one understood lol. I KNOW all these “declutters” all over RUclips go just like this but no one is admitting it. I declutter every day when I put my palette away and don’t use it until next year lol

I giggled when I read the title bc I do this all the time! 😅 I have pulled palettes out of my declutter pile and put them back into my collection. Sometimes I make decisions when I’m not in the right headspace. You know, the 😮 ‘I’ve got too much stuff - purge, purge, purge’ mind set. I think that over all, it can be a good thing to sit on things for a while. It’s all Good 🥰

This was so much fun to watch and so relatable because I have hard time getting rid of palettes too! I have put palettes in declutter pile and salvaged them later on. What I usually do is after I put it in the declutter pile, I would at least do one last look with the palette. And I still didn’t like it, I’ll declutter. I love Nomad and Oden’s Eye but ended up decluttering older palettes because they both improved their formula a lot over the years (including Berlin Underground, the first Solmane palette, Alva palette) I hope you rediscover some of the oldies but goodies from your collection!

Hi, Cara. I've done declutters because I've been purchasing makeup since 2010. It started with MAC for me. Indie makeup is a relatively new interest of mine. I bought Sydney Grace when the company was first created, and now I'm appreciating other Indie companies. I love your channel because it's not only about consuming makeup. You talk about the relationship that you have with makeup, and I enjoy listening to your thought process. Thanks for sharing your ideas. ♥

Hey Cara, I really enjoyed hearing how you feel about the declutterring journey and about having such a large collection. I fully agree with you and completely understand how you feel.
I have a collection of around 75-85 eye palettes and majority of the time I apply makeup on my sisters usually once or twice a week, so having that amount of palettes with little usage doesn’t make sense. The collector mentally definitely plays a role and especially when there is significance behind a certain palette or collection. When it comes to decluttering, it’s always about the “what if’s” or the “I spent so much money on it to just give it away”.
I would love to declutter half of my collection and I know I can, but there are so many obstacles, mentally, that make it hard. But I will continue to try!
We are in the same boat, but we know we can push through it and make better decisions!!

Same here. I don't have anyone in my circle who luvs makeup like I do and I felt pretty alone in that, so finding the makeup community on RUclips years ago was a Godsend, and I tap into at least one person daily to get my fix and to feel like I belong somewhere (and not to be a kiss ass, but whenever you post, I have to watch, even if I don't have the palette, becuz I like to watch your process of evolving with how you tackle color stories and working with the palettes). I enjoy your mcontent and luv the looks you create. Thanks for keeping it real and keeping it fresh.

I say, "Good for you! "....Always do what you want, period...I started getting into makeup about the same time...about 49 years old..I probably have half of your collection but, im not decluttering nothing..lol...( eye shadow) . I also built up a smaller collection for my 2 daughters but, they dont want any more eyeshadow...They said, "They have enough"...lol...My niece is doing makeup for friends so, i am able to give her some and its not because, i would get rid of it, Its just that I enjoy her love of makeup...I told her she's my makeup beneficiary...lol...Glad you did what made you happy...❤

Watching makeup declutters gives me so much anxiety, so this video made me very happy. Unless there is no redeemable quality in your palette, why throw it out if you paid for it ? We would never throw away a piece of furniture because there is a little bump on it… If there is one good shade in a palette, I keep it and make sure to use it with something else. If anything, that just allows my creativity to come out, like making a meal out of leftovers. 😅

Hey girl! Thank you for your transparency!! I am stuck in the same situation that I have a basket filled with decluttered eyeshadow palette, and I have no idea what to do with them. No one in my family really wears make up like that and I don’t have too many friends that wear make up as well. I don’t wanna toss them because some of them are barely used or just swatched (I have a brand new and unused of the Juvia’s Saharan II and an ABH Jackie Aina palettes that I bought as back ups), but I’m tired of looking at them. I am also most likely not going to sell them because some of them are older, and I’m not the most tech savvy person either.😅😅😅😅

@@BeautyAndTheFrizzIt wasn't what I was expecting, but I LOVED it! NM, Unearthly, and Nomad are special to me as well. I don't think I could part with any of mine lol. I definitely think Nomads quality has improved a ton over the the last year, but I also already loved their Mattes. That Christmas palette is hard to use, but when I do take the time, I love the looks I get. It just takes some work. Berlin Underground was what made me fall in love with the brand. I've bought every palette since, and found older ones on resale. I'd love to see a video using that oldie but goodie. Notoriously Morbid is definitely special. I keep all the palettes I get from them. The quality and the brand are just unique and on point 99% of the time.
But mostly I love your transparency. And that you are taking us on your journey with you. I've seen so many declutters where the creator has palettes you know they already devluttered and that's totally fine. If have a hard time letting go too. But there's something real about this video and the way you are honest about it and telling us why. I really liked it. I hope we see a lot of these on the "Do We Still Love Her" videos. Those are so great!

I identify so much with what you say 😊I've started getting more heavily into make up at the same time. Testing lots of brands. And I like it all 😅I like classic brands, drugstore and indie. I like different styles too. I've been through the headaches of declutters and honestly I ended up decluttering at least 14 palettes I later bought again!! Since then I'm super careful with declutterring. I'm doing project panning too to an extent although that community can be a bit too extreme. I'm regularly thinking I should declutter then feeling guilty that I'm not using stuff but still wanting new releases etc it's a cycle. I also have fave brands I just can't let go. I don't have any solutions to all this... But I think I'm lately becoming more clear what I really like and don't get caught up in the hype so easily. I'm also trying to accept that I really like make up.. I have always had more make up than the average person before there even was Beauty YT but now I have my own mini store 😅😅 what I'm trying to do is buy less and make better purchases, use my items BUT also allow myself to get rid of items that just dont work for me. We spend our money on it, it's done so Im trying to not feel guilty about what I do with my make up because I can't turn back time. It's hard... There are items I should declutter as I don't really like them enough but feeling guilty slows me down
