  • The Tri Five Nationals presented by CPP is a must-see event, as it features more than 2,500 1955, 1956 and 1957 Chevys of all varieties. Of course, I gravitate to the historic race cars, and old school hot rods, so that's most of what you'll see in this video. This year, I saw more W motors than ever, which is a great surprise because I just love a 409 in a '55 Chevy. I focused a lot of my efforts on the historic Super Stock cars on the property, and was amazed at some of the specs on these cars...mid 11's with a 265 is impressive!
    I'm looking forward to doing in depth features on Larry Nelson's 55 Chevy stocker, Ron Snick's 1955 Chevy convertible gasser and the absolutely stunning 1957 Corvette "Air Box" car, which has SERIOUS racing history. But for now, enjoy the highlights and stay tuned for more!

    Another great history lesson. True to the period are my favorite cars. Hot Rodders using their knowledge to go FAST.

    When I was in high school (1964-1968) there were Tri 5's everywhere, although no one called them that. Mostly 55's, some 56's, and only one guy had a 57. They were all hot rods ranging from ratty to real nice. I never had one, they were relatively expensive even then. I mean we bought beaters for $20-$100, and a car nice enough to go on a date was only a couple hundred.

    8:35 I was like: what's with the faux flames licking out of the injector stacks? But then realized they're lipstick cases. Awesome!

    Thanks for featuring all the Louisville Ky area cars & especially Steve Hinton '55 S/S car. I worked at Scotty's and love that Steve keeps the lettering long after shop went out of business.
    Thank You.

    You gotta tell TP to get himself a camera with a lens that'll zoom!
    I'd love to watch his videos, but he doesn't zoom down to show us the ETs the cars ran. (I've commented and he tells me his camera/lens doesn't zoom.) That's half the point of watching a drag race.

    It's a little odd that the black 55 150 with the 409 near the end of the video has chrome around the windshield, 150s had all rubber like he has on the rear window, not complaining, just noticing, and wondering.

    Such cool cars. Pick up a blue 55 two door wagon 210 from a friend of my dad’s that hasn’t been seen since 1968. Looks to be a former street racer or drag car with swapped rear gears and tow hooks and some cool vintage stickers. One says Creitz Racing Equipment Tulsa Oklahoma. Looking for old pics of blue two door wagon racing. Any ideas.? Love your content.

    To tell if it's a 348 or 409 at a glance is that the 409 you check the oil on the passenger side of the block. I know for sure.

  • @SaneCayne
    @SaneCayne 21 день назад

    Wow, can't believe they towed with Vettes back in the day. Seems like ANY other car from Chevrolet would've had better towing capacity/handling.
    Was the Vette usually raced at the event as well?

    the way we tell a 348 from a 409 is the dipstick - 409 is on the passenger side

    Re record the narration please. 409's are cool but tend to become hand grenades when built up beyond what the factory did. The 409 was not a good super speedway power plant.

    409 dipstick is on the right. 348 left.
