    It's crazy how as soon as I saw the title I knew which country it was. Journey to the West is one of the most influential stories ever created & I'm really hoping Black Myth comes out & blows everyone away.

      The Infamous one is the gov, not the country nor the people. But you just don't care. I really hope you can say to same: Vinland saga is great but Japan is infamous. Guess what they did in Nanjing. Still, you don't care.

    Another very important thing: basically every triple A is outsourcing production, a big part of it in China. I think that probably plays in how beautiful the games look (even if they're fake demos), they have the expertise to produce high quality stuff.
    Curious to see what will happen when they start releasing their own triple A and how it'll affect western companies.

    • @AsadAnjum
      @AsadAnjum  Год назад +1

      That's actually a great point, both in terms of why the games look so good up front and how the industry could be effected even further through these teams deciding to develop their own major projects. Any major shifts in China would probably have a huge doninoe effect on parts of the industry we don't even think about, but not many people really acknowledge it right now

    China making a policy that completely back fire is nearly a given anyway I saw a video of a teacher in China talking abut how kids aren't thought about art or creative thinking its mostly academic that foster adults who aren't very creative that's why China media in general is so lacking with few stand outs you can see it in these trailers you showed so few unique gameplay or aesthetics

    Hey man! I recently saw a few of your vids and think theyre really good (well structured, entertaining, and well-spoken) and so I wanna help you and give some feedback. Hope you dont mind!
    I think the biggest thing holding your videos from reaching a wider audience is your thumbnails. As your titles and videos are good. While i wouldnt say your thumbnails are bad, they could be way better and thus more appealing to people. Good thumbs would be your Ubisoft is dying video and to an extent your Bioshock one (although that one couldve been a bit better).
    I would suggest stripping it down to simplicity (as that works very well for video game essay type videos). A single recognizable image with text (max 4 words) would work great. The text shouldnt be heavily edited either (no dropshadow or outlines), different colors are fine.
    You can have more than image (like a collage) in the thumbnail but then i would still use a header image/object (like a character for example) and have that in the foreground while you desaturate the others in the background. In other words, the foreground is the important piece that gets the attention. This will help with the thumb feeling less cluttered and busy to look at.
    Im going to stop here bc I dont want to sound preachy or heavily critical and I hope you dont find any offensive in me giving this feedback!

    • @AsadAnjum
      @AsadAnjum  Год назад +3

      Not offensive at all! I typically like my thumbnails, although I do notice that they often look way better to me in photoshop than if I see then on RUclips itself. I think part of it is the reduced size, it really doesn't work well with a cluttered thumbnail. I do think I've generally improved on that front over time, but it's a bit of a mix between simple and complex.
      I think I need to recognize that what I like isn't always what does well when it comes to thumbnails. Again, I like em all, but it matters more if someone like you likes them. I'm glad you pointed it out cause it'll be something I pay more attention to going forward. My watch times always been solid but my click through rate not as much, so I think you make a good point and I appreciate you taking the time out to explain some ways you think it could improve also. Cheers mate

    Ayo this was high quality and very well edited and informed, not bad man. Kind of curious how much this will impact the industry if they do start trying to push into the console market. Also curious if Japan and Korea would even allow this to happen (At this huge of a scale I mean). Korea and Japan in their own rights have their influences when it comes to the eastern market. But from what I know Japan has pretty much almost an entire monopoly on foreign imports of video games to the west. I mean the Japanese have easily created/pioneered tons of genres from JRPG, BULLET HELL, VISUAL NOVELS, SURVIVAL HORROR and etc. as well as Nintendo to this day being one of the big three (And are still absolutely holding their own.) So I am very curious if this is going to lead China and Japan fighting in that market or working together. All of this is based on observation so I wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong but I do wonder how the Japanese and Korean companies view this, if China does do a Hail Mary and just RUSH B.
    Imagine Chinese companies trying to outdo or outperform Japanese titles like RE, MGS, DMC and etc. with their own titles, Imagine the younger generation growing up actively playing Chinese game titles, it would be nuts. Their would be crazy competition in the east, although I don't know if competition is a good idea given the landscape of the world and the economy nowadays. As I said before this is all speculation so I could be absolutely wrong about all of this.

      One more thing I AM worried about is Chinese Government being... the Chinese Government, you know, the "Big Brother." thing and all that. Hopefully their isn't too much Politics/Censorship involved in the creation of Chinese video games. At least more then usual.

      @AsadAnjum  Год назад

      Yeah China has a huge PC base but mainly for the same mtx-riddled, GaaS games, usually with mobile ports. What people generally think of as "console games" still don't have a huge footprint there, even their Steam counterparts

    I personally do not hold my breath for any chinese games regardless of how amazing they look. There's always the chance it's just vaporware or it just looks better than it plays.
    Good video though. I think China can be the most interesting player in the gaming industry if someone crazy enough there said "hey, what if instead of making a phone game that brings in billions of dollars on a $10K budget, we make a 20 million dollar budget game that would break even at best?"

    • @AsadAnjum
      @AsadAnjum  Год назад +2

      Lmao yup, they basically need to be cool with making significantly less money at higher risk. Although creativity is always a driving factor- most people working in the games industry as a whole are getting paid way less than they would be somewhere else for their skillset. A minority of people will always prioritize certain things over money. Looks like more Chinese devs are at least attempting to go down that road, we'll see if they have any follow through though

      MiHoYo has its headquarters in Shanghai. I honestly don't know what you're referring to, I found no evidence of the series or the people who made it being from Taiwan. In fact the game being from mainland China literally lead to it censoring the words Taiwan and Hong Kong in Genshin's in-game chat. Which is a total nono in china. So i heard atleast. I may be misremembering. (likely))
      Anway about the politics, China claims that Taiwan is part of Mainland china (As its the communist revolutionist's side/area) while Taiwan claims that Mainland china is part of itself (As its the pre-revolution goverment).
