my great grandma and my grandma survived.. my grandma is still alive! but my great grandma passed away before i was born :(
usuku meme you and me we’re all living proof of resilient people we are..my father’s parents are survivors and father never told me about it, I ended up learning about it via tv documentaries and later placing the pieces of the puzzle along with vague info about their travels during the timeline of events
@@JuukezeBarbie why do you think your parents never told you about this?
Leslia Ortez I’m guessing my father never brought it up as it was a dark time of their era. After the whole migration fiasco and settling in a foreign country starting with nothing, then dealing with the Great Depression. All I have is a photo of grandma and I was only told that she came from Odessa (formerly Russian territory but now Ukraine) and grandpa came from Poland. Father was born in Boston in 1919. I still wish to have more info
JuukezeBarbie or maybe because it was a scaring and traumatic event so he didn’t want to share it

We are not in Poland so we can say this: the Poles were complicit. You know it, we know it, and it will never be forgotten.
When I was 7, my grandma used to tell me stories about the WW2. When Japan invaded the Philippines. She saved a lot of peoples life, especially her mother when they were running from the soldiers & her mom slipped at a bridge. So my grandma was able to hold her moms hand & saved her. & she was very young back then. Their family all went to a mountain to hide & then suddenly my Grandma saw a soldier, so she run & told her uncle, they escaped. Stories like this is something that we should cherish and share to others. ❤

this is so amazing to hear, I’m so happy for your grandma ! How was she wearing that locket, they took everything away from them when they got to the camps??
Brinkley Whiteman It was after they were marched to Ravensbrück. The Nazis marched prisoners when the Allies were getting close to the camp. By that point quite possibly they were already liberated
She didn’t say she took the locket, she took the lock of hair and saved it. Probably got the locket later.
Her grandma with sharks so she would have assumed that they would have took it away from her so she probably would have hid it somewhere
iraje hall I have read some of your previous comments and you are definitely an anti Semite. Too bad for you that you have hate in your heart.
In some camps, they were aloud to let their hair grow back to normal and Guta might have found a locket at the camp.

For me my great-grandmother is my hero. My family is from Germany and near the end of the war the nazi officer from my town came to her and demanded that her sons (my grandpa and his brother) had to go to war (they were teenagers back then) but she wouldn't have it and screamed at him, in the middle of the street "You started this war on your own, so finish it on your own, without my children." To her luck the war ended a week later. As a german you had to pay the "Entnazifizierungsgebühr" (give money to the Americans so you weren't seen as a Nazi anymore). She went to pay it but they told her she didn't have to pay because she was on the list of people who were meant to be sent to a concentration camp.
That's cool. Part of my family was from Sudetenland so they didn't have problems with that either. My other great grandfather did not return from the war until years later as he was imprisoned in france, I do not know about my great grandmother having to pay anything.
Eliezer Greenspan I'm pretty sure even Jews wouldnt agree with israel.

My story of how my badass great great grandpa survived the Armenian Genocide:
My great great grandpa survived the Armenian genocide of 1915. He was from Artvin which used to be part of Armenia but now part of Turkey. When Kurdish and Turkish soldiers attacked his village he killed one of the soldiers with his hands and took his gun then went on to protect others and take them to Georgia for protection (Javakh region). He later joined the Armenian and Turkish war of lake Van. Tsar Nicholas of Russia then captured him and put him in jail for being in a group that wanted independence for Armenia. He then got out of jail. My great great grandpa also knew excellent Turkish and used it for his advantage.
Im from turkey but i feel extreemly sorry for your story dear sister.
