- Cruising the Inside Passage aboard the Carnival Miracle offers a captivating journey through some of the most stunning landscapes and vibrant ports of call in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.
Departing from Seattle, this cruise navigates the serene waters of the Inside Passage, providing breathtaking views, unique shore excursions, and unforgettable experiences.
The adventure begins in Seattle, Washington. Known as the Emerald City, Seattle is a vibrant urban center surrounded by natural beauty.
Before boarding the Carnival Miracle, take some time to explore iconic landmarks such as the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, and the Chihuly Garden and Glass. The city's waterfront offers picturesque views of Elliott Bay, and the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) provides an immersive experience in music and pop culture history.
One of the highlights of the cruise is navigating Tracy Arm Fjord, a narrow, winding passage renowned for its stunning scenery.
Towering cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and deep blue icebergs create a dramatic landscape. The fjord is home to the majestic Sawyer Glaciers, where massive ice formations calve into the turquoise waters below.
Wildlife sightings are common, with seals lounging on ice floes and bald eagles soaring overhead.
The natural beauty of Tracy Arm Fjord offers a serene and awe-inspiring experience, showcasing the raw power and tranquility of Alaska's wilderness.
Next on the itinerary is Skagway, a historic town that played a pivotal role during the Klondike Gold Rush.
Walking through Skagway feels like stepping back in time, with well-preserved buildings and wooden boardwalks evoking the spirit of the late 19th century.
The White Pass & Yukon Route Railroad offers a scenic train ride through rugged mountains and past cascading waterfalls, providing a glimpse into the challenges faced by gold seekers.
For a more adventurous experience, consider a dog sledding excursion or a hike along the Chilkoot Trail.
Juneau, the capital of Alaska, is a vibrant port surrounded by mountains and accessible only by sea or air.
A visit to the Mendenhall Glacier is a must, where you can explore hiking trails, kayak in the glacial lake, or simply marvel at the stunning ice formations.
Juneau's downtown area offers a mix of shops, restaurants, and cultural attractions, including the Alaska State Museum and the historic Red Dog Saloon.
Whale watching tours are popular here, providing the opportunity to see humpback and orca whales in their natural habitat.
Ketchikan is known for its rich Native Alaskan culture and its reputation as the "Salmon Capital of the World."
The town's historic Creek Street, once a bustling red-light district, is now a charming area with shops, galleries, and restaurants built on stilts above the creek.
Totem Bight State Historical Park showcases impressive totem poles and offers insights into the traditions of the Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian peoples. For a unique perspective, take a floatplane tour to Misty Fjords National Monument, where dramatic cliffs and lush rainforests create a breathtaking landscape.
The final port of call is Victoria, British Columbia, a city that exudes old-world charm with its British colonial architecture and beautiful gardens.
The Butchart Gardens, a National Historic Site, is a must-visit, featuring exquisite floral displays and manicured landscapes. Stroll along the Inner Harbour, visit the Royal BC Museum, or enjoy a traditional afternoon tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel. Victoria's blend of natural beauty, historic sites, and cultural experiences provides a delightful conclusion to the cruise.
