How to make a Wood and Rope Clock

- Rope and wood clock video. In this video I show how I made a large clock using rope and wood. I had seen a very similar one on Instagram some time ago and wanted to replicate it. It is an easy project to complete needing only a few tools and little materials. The hardest part is marking and drilling all the holes. The wood I used actually came from the slats of an old bed and the dimensions were roughly 110mm x 20mm. The diameter of the clock is 320mm. The rope I used was 8mm in diameter and it took approximately 13 meters in total to do the numerals and the seconds. I applied 3 coats of wood stain to finish the wood.
Some of you may notice that my workshop looks a little different. Over the last few months I extended it and changed the layout.

On the road to 100k
Nearly there Colie! Hopefully this year.
Great Idea with the ropes, looks good! (A lot of holes... It reminds me the air hockey table I did few years ago and drilled 1056 holes manually LOL, can't forget this number)
😂 yeah a lot of holes but no where near 1056! I can se why you cant forget it.
@@EamonWalshDIY 🤷
This was for the kids. I plan bigger table in the future but the holes will be with CNC this time... 😃
@@XDIY Sweet, I hope you do a video on it!

The color of scorpions is dark. Is not clear
Wait...: a new shed *and* a new cordless jigsaw? WTF?
😂😂 Its actually the same shed Frank just a bit bigger and a different layout. I needed more room, I could could hardly move in it anymore so I extended it a few months ago while at home due to covid. I had been working off one plug socket and one light so added loads more too. I don't know myself now with the extra room, sockets and lights!
I have broken 2 black and decker jigsaws and burnt out another non brand one the last few years so I went for it and got the Dewalt one. Hopefully this will last a bit longer!
@@EamonWalshDIY Well it’s good to see you with more space anyways. Love seeing your vids.
I’ve a Dewalt jigsaw like that and they’re great but keep the blade retention area free from dust as much as possible. I bought mine used and the blades kept coming loose but a needle-pick cleared out the dust and it’s been a beast ever since. Apparently it’s a ‘known issue’ with the Dewalts.
Dare I ask where you’re located? Based on the name I’m guessing somewhere in Munster, Ireland.
@@frankblack1481 Thanks i will keep an eye on that. I am Roscommon, just a few KM from Athlone.
