I’m sure you can make it work well though if you build a unit right for it. And on a killer axe it could be pretty solid.

Leif and Ike do get better with the DLC. With Hector, you want your wt to be +5 over your bld for 5 free damage. Hector's engrave is meant to synergize with very tanky units. Also his ability lets you do added damage when a weapon is heavier than your build. So it's very specific but on the bright side it's not hard at all to use on slow super tanky units. I would probably use it on Blades to rack up that weight.
I have to unlock that for Louis and put one of the Weight Engraves on the Great Lance and see how dumb it gets. It’s kind of a shame that the Great Lance loses weight as you upgrade it. He does upwards to 60 damage with the base Silver Great Lance, I want to see how far it can go
I put micaiah's engrave on my chloe's killer lance and it let's her avoid attacks like crazy and crit relatively often enough to negate the mt reduction
Eirika and Camilla are good for a killer weapon for a Wrath and Vantage +(+) build with Ike Emblem. I have been using this on Diamont and it is quite good. At near half health he has 100% crit. Though this is just Hard mode.
Been waiting for someone to make this tho i was expecting it when the third round came along but its interesting to see what other people think of these
I used Ike’s engrave on the Thunder tome. It pairs will with the Dire Thunder shenanigans since you can’t double anyways and you get double the might bonus from the brave effect. Also 3 range means that your mage will be hitting from a safe distance if they’re behind your frontline, so Avo and getting doubled shouldn’t be a problem. What’s the enemy going to do, hit you with their own Thunder? Hah.
I gave micaiah engraving to my dagger unit because forging a dagger just gives such a huge benefits each level. The awakening engraving I gave to Ivy's weapon to fix her accuracy issues early. And Ike's is huge on long range magic/bows they aren't aiming for being countered anyways.
Engravings that give accuracy/avoid/crit seem way stronger that the rest imo. I feel like you're overrating ones like Roy's or Ike's. Speed thresholds are important but damage didn't seem so except on magic. Eirika's is way stronger than you seem to say, use it on a unit that never gets hit like Alcryst and you're golden. I don't understand why you value 2might over 40acc and 20crit so much. Rest I 100% agree
Here's the deal. More damage is always good, more hit is good until reaching 100. +40 hit is overkill most of the time amd wasted, even +1 can net you a clutch kill with braves or slayers.
Yeah, especially on late/post game maddening when every flier is rocking like 95-105 avoid. also used Eirika's on Alcryst's longbow for the longest time before his dex got to such high levels (to take the hit to his hit chance) and Celine/Alfred's luck grew to the point they can easily eat the -20 dodge without facing an increase in chance to be crit from non-killer weapons.
I use a lot of lances/swords/units with good dex so hit rate wasn't a huge problem for me. If you run a lot of axe units/inaccurate weapons accuracy matters more. Mt is one of the best stats in the game
Ike's engraving is super good for Hector's ability tbh. +8 dmg almost guaranteed. Put it on a brave Lance on a halberdier and you still quad w pincers and Hector keeps them alive on enemy phase. Pretty great on goldmary tbh since she needs the dmg and will have solid enough def growths+Hector to still function as a bruiser
Eirikas Engrave is mandatory on some great post game Maddening builds and therefore Tier 1 imo. +40acc is as much as you can get and excellent on Sage/Soren builds on Bolganone+5 with Hold Out+++ and Quick Re+ to solo maps (as long as there are no art users) and on your Juggernaut to clear Tempest Trials 50 Vulcano.
Hector's Heavy Hit skill really gives life towards the engravings that increases WT by alot. I think both ike and roy's engraving give alot of WT to weapons, but this can be turned into a postive with Hector's passive. Really cool
I gave Eirika’s Engrave to a Flashing Fist Art, which was being used by a Framme with Alacrity++. She quads the enemy and then I can just trade-equip something else if I need to.
I personally use eirikas engrave for the longbow since it's pretty inaccurate and you'll be far enough away anyway so the enemy could have difficulty getting to them to use that +20 crit if I have units in front of the archer
I put Erika on a plus 5 Thunder Tome along with Dire Thunder Ring. Gave it to Lindon trying to make it work with his personal skill. He has like 40 ish crit. This is only on hard mode but it's working pretty well despite Lindon being under leveled he can put in work with the Crit Dire Thunder.
I put Roys engraving on a Thoron for Citrinne. She dies in one hit and is slow anyways. The only positve she has is high magic so its like it was meant for her.
I used Roys and Ikes engravings on a Silver Greatlance and Spear that Louis uses. He doesnt need any avoidance and i wanted to increase his burst damage since he isnt gonna double either.
Currently trying a vantage Panette build using Ike Emblem, Camilla engrave, and +5 Killer Axe and right now she crits and destroys anything that goes against her. Second sealed her to Warrior. Since she's lower HP to activate crit the AI swarms her thinking they are going to win. Just gotta avoid long range magic
I use Lynn's engraving on a killer bow for Etie. With the wind god ring and the sniper passive she gets anywhere from 70 to 80% crit chance without the enemy being able to hit back.
Eirika engrave can be good on long bow to prevent counter attack and offset the -20 hit from being 3 spaces away. You could also run the engrave on a unit and then give the unit +dodge skill from Eirika for fairly cheap. It uses a skill slot but considering +15 from Sigurd is decent +40 hit/20crit at cost of a skill slot on +20 dodge doesn’t seem awful
Ike's is amazing for whoever is using Hector cause you get the heavy attack + 5 damage and you're guaranteed to double anyways as long as you have enough health so it's pretty much perfect for that, it's also really good for any weapon you have specifically to use for engage attacks because weight isn't relevant there anyways plus unlike Roy's you don't lose anything like avoid it's just +3 extra mt for free as long as you're giving it to the right guys in the right scenarios, plus hector is one of the best emblem rings too so if you have the dlc there's definitely always going to be someone who will benefit from this potentially getting as high as + 8 mt on all their attacks
Panette with a silver axe is like the only character who can afford to have micaiah engrave on it and still do massive damage. It's helped me an awful lot over my run
Micaiah engrave is really good on units that abuse true damage with Eirika emblem. My martial monk Chloe was hitting for 22x4 on every single enemy, but really needs the avoid. Without the emblem, everything has 40-60 hit on her. She becomes untouchable after and, since might is irrelevant on the build, you can use it without changing damage output at all.
My only problem with this tier list is Roy and Ike. In my opinion, +3MT and +15 WT is nowhere near a tier below +2 MT, +8 WT, and -30 Avoid. Having that much WT is so "bad," that I feel both deserve the same tier.
That's fair, it depends on the use case of either, the high weight ones suffer if an enemy is able to counter attack or attack, but in some use cases I could see both being strong
I put Erika engrave on my mage with thoron, then it had 100% accuracy on any enemy and crit fairly often. My mage is never in the line of fire anyway for the reduced dodge to matter. Especially cool with dire thunder.
Lyns Engrave has been performing really well on a Brave Lance for Timerra in my run. The reduced weight allows her to quadruple against more enemies, which means more sandstorm procs, and combined with the raised critrate she occasionally just onerounds whatever she's attacking. Additionally due to the lower weight, she's harder to double on enemy phase, which means she can still be used for tanking-duties after braveswinging into something.
Using Ikes engrave on a heavy weapon on Louis with the Ike emblem, is the best use case. It doesn't matter if you get doubled with good enough defence. 0×2 is still 0. It's significantly less powerful on Maddening (still usable)
Would you recommend using Altear’s fire engraving on a brave lance +5 for Timerra? I feel like with her high luck & dex would work with the +20 dg & crt, plus I have her at 97 avo w/out it already and she can quad most things with 42 spd that the -1 mt won’t hurt too much.
Killer Lance is weaker and lighter than Killing Edge. I was somewhat surprised when I found that out. I would've been more surprised if I didn't already know that Flame Lances are weaker, heavier, and less accurate than Levin Swords.
Feel weird you value tiki so much but not eirika i put eirika on ranged weapon killer bow / thoron Basically mean they always hit and also straught up kill everything up front if you crit
I mean I can take this into consideration...but If there is an engage weapon that matches a normal weapon. Like Killer axe, Killer bow, Ridersbane and Wyrmslayer. those normal ass weapons are getting those engraves.
you said no unit will really be +6 speed above enemies on maddening mode unless theres an exploit.... and with Relay trials being fixed there is now an exploit, everytime you do 1 relay trial it refreshes everythign in the somniel so you can theoretically overlevel in the Arena and get materials and sell items you get from Relay trials as they complete for gold. I dont really recommend it tho because it takes forever.
Make sure to actually know what your units are supposed to do because I, thinking I was playing a gba FE game, thought I could make a dodge tanking mage and now I have a marth engraved surge tome just gathering dust in my convoy for like 45% of the game
the thing that's driving me crazy is. When I go to engrave stuff. I can't tell which emblem I've already used and which ones are empty. Is there any way to tell, besides going back and forth and visually checking out what items already have stuff? Its so annoying going back and forth. Mybe I'm missing something???
Roys engrave is good on armorslayers. You can orko lategame great knights with it. Ikes the best engrave on olwen users. Byleths wt penalty is non existent on daggers.
The downside to the DLC emblems is that you lose a lot of avo and dodge, and on maddening, any enemy hit or crit rates that aren’t 0 or 100 are basically 50%
It is always interesting how things are interpreted. I mention axes a few times therefore that is what you believe I am communicating about the engravings. Axes are my least used weapon type I am just mentioning accuracy increase is great on them.
Side topic, but silvers being heavier than steels is just sadge. Silvers are supposed to be the endgame of normal weapons, but with the added weight, it's not as enticing to get there unlike in the GBA games.
+1 MT and 30 crit A tier? +2 MT S tier? You are not valuing crit enough. Genuinely. Just one example of how valuable crit engraves are, is for whoever uses celica. Echo was designed for crit fishing weapons. Putting any crit engrave on nova is overkill, because if you echo with it, then you are around (endgame dex is around 20 = 10 crit) (fates engrave +30 crit) 40 crit - endgame luck 10-20 which is 30-20 crit x 2, then after echo, 30-20 crit x 4. Celica gives +8 MAG pincluding resonance passive. Citrinne was a hard carry because of this, divine pulse modifying accuracy. If an enemy can counterattack, fracture on one of your staffbots or many mages out of range or have nothing better to do is good, fracture is just good in general especially combined with warrior's merciless passive. I digress but I'd say all crit engravements are S tier except for Lyn's, because hers is pretty awful. While it could work on a killer axe the minus 3 damage always translates to -9 damage since you modify already high crit builds for consistency. Or -18 damage if you're fighting a corrupted wyrm which has 6 spd you can double and ridiculously high DEF and HP. Lyn's engravement usually falls to the celica user's thoron tome, which has enough MT not to care and can as stated previously crit fish with echo. I don't like Lyn's engrave and seeing how you value MT so much I think you' know why. (B tier) The only use I found for Celica's engrave is for whoever uses Ike. Put it on a greataxe/blade to use great aether on. Ike user can't avoid, so negating all instances of crit against a large horde of enemies is good. Roy's engrave... Probably best on a bow with low wt on a warrior that has high bld. Killer bow specifically. Other judgments are sound.
Mt is always good, crit needs a specific build but I mostly agree that it can be very strong. I am thinking about these in terms of how many units could use this/builds could be run using these. Crit is niche, you either are on a crit weapon or you aren't.
@@IcedCoffeeGaming I disagree, I'd say it is similar to skill proc fishing with brave weapons. Giving a 20-30 crit engravement on any unit that doubles via natural speed or brave weapon is similar to the percentage of proccing a luna or sandstorm. It is dependent on the unit, but endgame dexterity is around 20-35, with dagger units and Pannette on the higher end. 10-17 natural crit, and 20-30 engravement totaling 30-37 40-47 crit without any crit on the weapon. Luck between enemy types varies, from swordmasters on the high end to berserkers on the low end so it's so this chance hovers around 20-30 crit or more. I'd say this is around the same percentages as proccing sandstorm/luna, but obviously crits/skill procs have different strengths and weaknesses, skills dealing consistent damage like sandstorm, or in Alcryst's case half def but in either case it has a theoretically lower ceiling than a crit witch multiplies by three. tl;dr Crit engraves give units a similar percentage to skill procs, their value increases with the amount of times attacked. My example again being Citrinne with the Nova tome *which doesn't have crit,* a similar setup to your Quad Sandstorm Timerra, mine Initiating with 37~ crit, with 4 chances to proc the crit with Echo. That is the best way I can explain it.
Fire Emblem Engrave

I have a plan for the Fates Engraving, but I need to go through the rest of the story and recruit Veyle first.
He does upwards to 60 damage with the base Silver Great Lance, I want to see how far it can go
I threw corrin’s engraving on a +5 killer sword for an easy 70% crit rate. Gave that to kagetsu for 100% in every combat…
Hah.
Maybe do an emblem tier list per weapon type? even tomes? That might show some more diversity in the tiering.
@@marcoasturias8520 Good luck getting 100 acc on Maddening post chapter 17 reliably without support balling or engravings.
Yeah my merrin with killing edge eirika is wrecking. Needs alacrity is all
I use a lot of lances/swords/units with good dex so hit rate wasn't a huge problem for me.
Really cool
Right. Doubled Wt for Heavy Attack, and Quick Reposite let's you double anyway.
I put the fire emblem engrave on the wille glanz cuz its really good and i also enjoy how it makes sense canonically lol
Can we have a updated tier list for this with the new wave of DLC?
Chrom one s+ its basically sigurd with +20 dodge lol
I gave the Eirika engrave to my Etie's forged brave bow, which paired with her sniper class and Wind God, allowed her to nuke from a safe distance
corrin's is REALLY good on a magic bow
I used a erika on a tomahawk that i used on my Vander who was running hector
Panette with a silver axe is like the only character who can afford to have micaiah engrave on it and still do massive damage. It's helped me an awful lot over my run
Camilla's engrave is busted in half. absolutely S tier.
Erika emblem is great for General/Great knight + Killer Weapon tank. Trust me!
Ike engrave on Thunder+5 with Olwen S Ring is sooooo good.
I used that one that makes weapon super heavy on a spear+5 on my general with hector ring (auto followup) and omfg i only avoid mages and im good
Erika Engrave + Racket of Solm = negates dodge debuff
Camilla on a killer weapon has been almost a guaranteed crit every time
Using Ikes engrave on a heavy weapon on Louis with the Ike emblem, is the best use case.
It depends on how high your dex is, losing MT on a brave weapon feels bad IMO but you could do it
nice list mate 😎
Killer Lance is weaker and lighter than Killing Edge. I was somewhat surprised when I found that out. I would've been more surprised if I didn't already know that Flame Lances are weaker, heavier, and less accurate than Levin Swords.
Eirika on my bow knight Alcryst's +3 killer axe is auto critting everyone
For the ones that have downsides, just change the weapon after atack
Feel weird you value tiki so much but not eirika i put eirika on ranged weapon killer bow / thoron Basically mean they always hit and also straught up kill everything up front if you crit
I mean I can take this into consideration...but If there is an engage weapon that matches a normal weapon. Like Killer axe, Killer bow, Ridersbane and Wyrmslayer. those normal ass weapons are getting those engraves.
Late game diamant has enough build to completely negate the weight of roy and ike engravings haha
you said no unit will really be +6 speed above enemies on maddening mode unless theres an exploit.... and with Relay trials being fixed there is now an exploit, everytime you do 1 relay trial it refreshes everythign in the somniel so you can theoretically overlevel in the Arena and get materials and sell items you get from Relay trials as they complete for gold.
I dont really recommend it tho because it takes forever.
I used Eirika engrave on Roy Pannette Tomahawk. 100% hit chance tomahawk p good.
This one is really good on axes
Crit focused units benefit the most from Engraves, tbh.
Make sure to actually know what your units are supposed to do because I, thinking I was playing a gba FE game, thought I could make a dodge tanking mage and now I have a marth engraved surge tome just gathering dust in my convoy for like 45% of the game
RIP
the thing that's driving me crazy is. When I go to engrave stuff. I can't tell which emblem I've already used and which ones are empty. Is there any way to tell, besides going back and forth and visually checking out what items already have stuff? Its so annoying going back and forth. Mybe I'm missing something???
I don't think there is an easy way to check which are used unfortunately
@@IcedCoffeeGaming thanks.. whats the difference between steel and silver weapons? Is Silver better?
Roys engrave is good on armorslayers. You can orko lategame great knights with it.
Ikes the best engrave on olwen users.
Byleths wt penalty is non existent on daggers.
I feel like Hector Engrave is best on someone using his bracelet because of Heavy Attack right?
Give
Them roy engrave with dire thunder rings😂😂
Never engraved got to roll for rings
You forgot Chrom's Engrave...
The downside to the DLC emblems is that you lose a lot of avo and dodge, and on maddening, any enemy hit or crit rates that aren’t 0 or 100 are basically 50%
Erica engrave is great for bows
Looks like you beat the game again. What you doing different for the next run?
Is it time for Foot Emblem?
Trying out different classes/units/passives lol. By foot emblem do you mean not flying units?
@@IcedCoffeeGaming yup!
Pure Infantry oh god
The this is good on axes tierlist
It is always interesting how things are interpreted. I mention axes a few times therefore that is what you believe I am communicating about the engravings. Axes are my least used weapon type I am just mentioning accuracy increase is great on them.
@@IcedCoffeeGaming it was just a joke. Don't take it seriously
Side topic, but silvers being heavier than steels is just sadge.
Silvers are supposed to be the endgame of normal weapons, but with the added weight, it's not as enticing to get there unlike in the GBA games.
No downside....would you say that would be pure upsides?
Serenoa is B tier
lol so there all good, got it. 😂
Stupid nitpick but I wish instead of symbols it was just their faces or something. I can't look at these and know what any of them mean
(B tier)
The only use I found for Celica's engrave is for whoever uses Ike.
Anyway, your videos are great, as others have said, I like hearing your thoughts on the game.
